Xbox 360 controller (wired, Plug and play) in Vista!

I plugged the USB controller and let the drivers to install automatically, I restarted. But when I try to play, theres no response to all games. Can I activate the controller with the big Center (button as I would to turn on normally the X controller)? what I'm missing here? I even went to the control panel > game controllers and it is not listed in the menu options. Help, please!

Okay - I use a PLug-and-PLay charger with USB socket, I read that I might not be able to use this type of cable, can anyone confirm? It DL'ed pilots tho?

No, which won't work.  The charger is not a communication cable.  If you have a wireless controller, you need the PC wireless card for it.

  • Black wired xbox 360 controller for windows flashes and freezes games

I installed the xbox 360 accessories 1.2, I plugged my black Xbox 360 wired controller for windows on the computer. I let it install its drivers. The ring of light continues to blink all the time, no matter how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and drivers, it continues to Flash, I even looked for updates for the drivers. When I start a game it also works very well unless I have pull triggers or go at my card or try to pick a lock. (the game is skyrim) It freezes whenever I have try them and I unplug the controller and it thaws and if I plug it back in, it does the same thing again. I tested the controller on a real xbox 360 (works fine), but it doesn't seem to work on my pc. Any help please, but serious answers only.

    Hi JamBoard,

It is possible, that you need to install the drivers for the controller.  You can get them from here:

However, if it's not too hot, it could be a real hardware problem.

    Thank you!

  • You can use wireless controller if you use Plug-and-play?

Hello, I was wondering, is it possible to use a wireless controller with my pc, if I use a plug and play?

If the wireless controller is equipped with a usb port on the computer to connect to it, then it is probably intended for use on the PC. You can't just use a PS3 or Xbox controller on the computer just like that.

  • Xbox 360 controller to rumble does not and windows triggers

I recently brought a xbox 360 controller to my pc all the buttons seem to work fine execpt triggers, they work with games like halo 1 havnt tested too many other games tho
He came with the instillatoin disk but still do not work the triggers that bothers me really because I could have made a controller at half price with style ps2 but I perfer the 360 setup
so, it would be great if someone can help me solve this problem

    ray_mo_321,
If the controller works fine on other games (all the buttons and triggers), then you know that he is in communication with your PC correctly.  You must look in the configuration of the controller on the game to make sure it can use a controller and is properly configured for this.

  • What I need to download in order to play games on my PC with my Xbox 360 controller? It says I need a system with XP SP1 or SP2, but I have Windows 7. Any thoughts?

    • I already downloaded the patch for xbox 360 controller.
    • Windows 7 is installed, but the error message that appears indicates that I need XP SP1 or SP2.

    Hi SevOmega,

Welcome to Microsoft 7 answers Forum!

The patch you downloaded can support only Windows XP (SP1 or SP2) which is not compatible to your computer since your computer is installed with Win7.

I suggest that you visit the same Web site where you downloaded the patch and download the patch that is suitable for Win7 and check.

  • Does not, XP 8176 controller plug-and-play

I have a system controller 8176 under XP. OR PXI-devices are not detected plug-and - play. Last XP and OR corrections updated. The system has 512 MB of ram and > 10 GB of free space on the disk. No "yellow marks" ion device with the exception of the PXI advice Manager.

I have several different devices PXI, 6608 timer, 4461, etc. 5406. None are detected PNP.

This works: => Control Panel Add material etc.

Device Manager-online-online 'New Hardware Detection' data acquisition devices does not work

Whenever I put to update MAX, all PXI devices date back to be undetected, with a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager and MAX the device has an 'X' mark and a symbol of the plan.

Repeat Controll notes-online hardware etc add the hardware and then things work very well from there once again.

I tried to remove all cards except the 6608 timer, but it is still not detected.

Any ideas? Is it possible that I miss some of the software components?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Ghostdogaln.

How do hang you the controller?  You must either use a * wired * controller, or use a wireless controller with receiver game Xbox 360 for Windows.

If you use a wireless with a Play and Charge kit controller, it will not work as long as the USB cord only actually plug into the battery for the controller itself. • Xbox 360 controller not working not not windows 7 (detected in Device Manager, still does not)

    What I have
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (with the cable that allows you to connect it to the photo that is wired)

    This my problem
I connected the Xbox 360 controller to my pc via the cable, it is detected in Device Manager as 'wireless controller xbox 360 Via play & charge kit.
In respect of game controller does not appear even when you click advance to selected the device it does not always show upward.
I tried to use it TI a game it does not at all.
The rings on the Xbox 360 controller lights when I plug the controller in my pc (even though Device Manager detects a problem with)
When I press the button the controller guide, it just keeps blinking as if it must be syc (but it connect through a wire that shouldn't happen)

I tired using different drivers the same problems, I was installed the drivers off Windows 7 support site exactly the same problem...

I also tried unplugging all the USB devices on my computer and plug the controller Xbox 360 on USB port which are directly mounted on the mother exactly the same problem.

    Up to now NO solution.
Please help me because I think I got tired of everything I can

Unfortunately, this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit connects only up to the actual battery.  Still, the controller connects more wireless.

You would need a wired Xbox 360 controller or Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming receiver that connects to your wireless controller existing.

  • xBox 360 controller does not at all for PC

I downloaded and installed the Xbox 360 accessories. And installed everything and everything I plug the controller. When he was done, I rebooted my computer and plugged into the controller. He has ALWAYS installed the plug-and-play driver and is the only driver that appears in my device manager. It does not show the HID - controller game or the other. And in the xbox controller tab, it shows the plug-and-play/charge kit driver.

Now, I completely uninstalled, restarted, and redone it... two times... and at the same time UNIQUE of EACH result. I use a wireless controller - but I'm on the wired USB plug on it, to make wired. -What is the problem?

  • I can't use the Xbox 360 controller for condemned Criminal Origins

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • I can't using a wired Xbox 360 controller as a joystick for the origins of felons game.
    • I looked online for a solution and close using joy to key. I could map each button and it was totally functional, but I was still unable to turn or to consider, if I could walk because I had mapped the left analog stick for market controls. I tried to change the settings for the joystick in the game, but they are not what I noticed at all.
    • the game recognize at least some controller, when the mapping in the keyboard settings, it recognizes the buttons, but not the triggers or the analog sticks.
    • I tried to update my drivers, I tried different usbs and always made sure that it was connected, all of the simple things.
    • I really want to play this game, and I'll be really disappointed if I have to use the keyboard and the mouse to do it, I'm not comfortable at all to aid in a fps game.

    Thanks for your help!

but in fact I ended up understanding.

apparently my controller was defaulting to an old driver or the wrong driver or something, so the game incorrectly recognizes it. at least partially wrong.

the old, updated, deleted totally worked! for the most part, had yet to use joy to key to map triggers, and the d - pad is recognized as a button, instead of four separate.
