XD - bit (CPU function) disabled/not available for Satellite A100-PSAA9
Last week, I bought the laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-847 (Satellite A100-SPAA9) which has an Intel Core 2 Duo, model T7200.
Specifications Intel, this processor (as all Core and Core 2 processors) has the particularity of XD - bit, known in Windows like DEP. I had the unpleasant surprise to discover that this feature is
reported by Windows as unavailable (in hardware). I got the electronic manual on the recovery CD (which is an edition that is older than the printed manual that comes in the package) that I can do this feature
available (for some older models of Satellite) but I couldn't find any option in my BIOS to do this (my BIOS is made by Phoenix, version 2.0).
I really want to know how to make this feature available/active as my processor socket and so is the operating system purchased with the laptop and more than that, this feature is something beneficial - specially designed for security reasons and supported by all modern processors and operating systems.
What do I have to wait for an updated BIOS include this option (to activate the feature XD bit) or that it is automatically set as active/available (instead of disabled/not available)?
I expect a well documented answer from someone who knows what I'm talking about.
Thank you very much.
I know what you're talking about.
Execute Disable Bit (xD-bit) Intel can help prevent certain malicious types of buffer overflow attacks when combined with a compatible operating system.
Disabling malware code procedure is called the extension-> short adj. data protection
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats that attack by running (executing) malicious code of the locations of memory that Windows and other programs should use. This type of threat causes damage by taking over one or more locations of memory used by a program. Then she spreads and harms other programs, files, and even your email contacts.
Unlike an antivirus program or firewall, DEP does not prevent harmful programs from being installed on your computer. Instead, it monitors your programs to determine if they use the system safely memory. To do this, DEP software works alone or with compatible microprocessors to mark some memory locations as "non-executable".
If a program tries to run malicious code or not a protected location, DEP closed the program and notifies you.
DEP can take advantage of software and hardware support. To use DEP, your computer must be running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later version, or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later version. Software only DEP helps protect against certain types of malware attacks, but to take full advantage of the protection DEP can offer, your processor must support "execution protection".
The Windows 32 bit (SP2) version supports bit off Execute (xD) so the computer function notebook processor is running in mode of extension (PEA) physical address.
It is a technology based on hardware designed to mark the locations of memory as non-executable.
If your processor doesn't support hardware DEP, you need to upgrade a processor that offers execution protection features.
However, you can see the control panel-> system-> Advanced tab-> Performance settings-> Data Execution Prevention tab.
By default, DEP is enabled only for essential Windows operating system programs and services. In order to protect more programs with DEP, select turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
I installed a new custom application on a Linux server. I followed exactly the steps on Metalink Note: 70276.1.
The problem is that I get the message "function is not available in this responsibility. It seems that something wrong is with regard to the path of the functions/forms...
After I put the custom variable env XXTEST and restart the application... server that issues the command:
echo $XXTEST dir that points to is displayed as expected...
In addition, all directories (void) and all forms (fmx and fmb thus) have the privs "rwx" for all users and groups of users.
BasePath declared this custom application registration is identical to that stated in the custom EPS file that is called when the base apps env file comes from.
I tried to copy all the files of fmx in custom, application files (for all lang installed) and change the info from basepath_top of this new custom application. The result was successful... I mean I launches the all-new custom appl (all forms) under an other custom folders...
Do you have any idea what may be wrong...?

This is explained in the second note referenced in my previous answer (define a product_top).
I need to download the software for my A100-165(PSAA9E-OOVOOHFR) and it is not in the series of laptops?
I put t really know what your problem is, but if I look on Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAA9E I founded all the drivers and tools.
Try again, maybe you searched on the wrong Web site:

I should update the drivers for my Satellite A100 (PSAA9) according to the last email received by Toshiba. Check it HERE
However, I am not sure they are the right ones for my Intel(r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. The download page includes not 3945ABG, but only Wireless 3945.
Any help? I'll download them anyway? Thank you
you know that you can use the drivers, because they are for this series of w - lan cards. Moreover, intel drivers for the lan cards are almost the same won´t then you have problems with the installation again. My Satellite A100 PSAA9E is so amazing slow, in my view, that the only option is to uninstall everything. I mean how do I restore my laptop to its original condition inlc. last units of driver.
Before performing a new installation, you can clean your system using a software like TuneUp utilities. This is shareware, but you can use it for free for a month. It cleans up the registry, removes matched files, and...
If you want to restore their original state, use recovery discs or hard drive recovery image (by pressing F8 at startup). If you burn and missing hard drive recovery image, you can order from Toshiba for money or get a copy of windows for installation (all drivers you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver)
I used uniblue offers scan - and now my screen function to optimize now unavailable to disconnect me. I can only minimize the access - and now I can't use the enlarge click.
Uniblue is NOT product of Microsoft and about problem with their product, it is best to start here:
I have a pdf file and create an import button. However, for the reader, they cannot import JPEG and png. Only able to import PDFs.
That is right. In Reader, you can only import the PDFs as the icon of a button field.
I'm working on an A100-197, which would not boot into normal Windows, but was able to start in safe mode.
I used MSConfig to disable all startup and other services. Not good.
I used the system restore. Not good.
I have scanned for viruses, rootkits, etc. None found. Not good.
I copied data to another hard drive in SafeMode with network and inserted the recovery DVDs.
Through unpacking and got message saying to remove DVD - did this and system seems to freeze.
Click the exit button and it restarts, but Windows froze (the movement stopped moving blobs). Tried safe mode
but got a message saying that the installation of the system has not finished.
Tried the recovery again, but this time I left the unpacking screen 100% of the overnight to see if

I think that connects the hard drive on another machine and RecoUnpack.exe a work PC running to

I would say that you have some serious hardware malfunction. Have you ever tried to check the RAM and the processor?
In your case, I would try to run the UBCD4Win (www.ubcd4win.com) and superPI allows to see if the RAM is faulty.
It could also be another component such as the motherboard or something on the motherboard (graphics, sound, some capacitors)
It s just a suggestion, but you could really give my hint a chance. ;)
I would also try another HARD drive in this machine, maybe the controller from your old HARD drive disappeared...
Welcome and appreciate all comments
I had to re - install Windows XP on my laptop. I don't have the CD of drivers Toshiba however.
So I came here to get the drivers, but I don't know which driver goes with what material in my device manager.
Here's what I need the drivers for the Device Manager under...
Mass storage controller
Device PCI (new)
SM Bus controller
Can anyone advise which specific driver I need for each?
Thank you very much
Let's just do it.
After the new installation of the operating system, you must install all the necessary drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities. All these things must be installed in the order of specific facilities and not the rest of your list in your ad.
What you need to do is to visit the support page of Toshiba and search for all the drivers available.
All these things you can find on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads
Choose your model laptop and you will find it.
First download file called instructions for facilities and follow the order of the facilities.
All that s!
If you have any other questions let me know.
I downloaded the drivers nvidia 97.45 but this driver recognizes my card GeForce Go 7600 NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110 M. Is there something wrong with the drivers?
Nvco.inf, I found that there is not only support for this last card. What is going on?
Can you please download driver and test again? Please report the results.
I have an A100-504 Satellite (PSAA9) with only 1 GB of RAM. CPUZ is a module of Hyundai HYMP512S64BP8-C4 PC2-4300.
I want to switch to 2 GB and I was wondering if I have to buy a special kind of RAM? What I should also buy Hyundai RAM or can it be a different brand? What about specifications? What RAM modules would be the best in combination with Vista and that Hyundai HYMP512S64BP8 - C4 1 GB module?
Thank you very much for your help!
There's not a lot of philosophy.
The best thing you can do is to use recommended and 100% compatible modules of RAM. According to the specification of the specifications compatible modules are:
512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)

I canoe found a chanlog :(
What you're looking for? You need information about the new version of BIOS or what?
Currently, you can find a newer version of the BIOS on Toshiba page.
I checked the site and it seems that the 5.10 version was published on 25/01/07 and operating system independent.
Unfortunately, you won't find information about the change of the new version of the BIOS.
It seems European Toshiba site doesn't provide details.
I have a Canon MG6250 connected via USB. I run Windows 7 with all latest updates and the version of Firefox is currently 38.0.5. Since some time, probably about a year, starting after a new version of Firefox, I think, I have problems printing. (Sorry I don't remember which version it started happening.) Unless I'm waiting for the printer to prepare completely, although the print dialogue box appears and I click on print, often (not always) nothing happens. If I try to print again I get a pop-up window indicating that the print function is not available. If I then close Firefox and try to restart it, it tells me Firefox is already running. I have to put an end to its process through the Task Manager. Often, I want to print from several tabs already charges with the pages to print. Even if I managed to get the first tab print, somewhere along the line the same thing often happens: before I printed the tab page from the last I get the box pop up again and I have to end the process of Firefox to make it work again. I can generally prevent his happening if I monitor the activity of the CPU of my computer (via System Mechanic) and make sure that all activity ceased after printing a tab until I try to print on the other. This makes printing of desperately slow Firefox!
I don't have any problems printing of any other application.
Note that relatively recently, due to a failure of the system disk, I reinstalled Windows and all my software. I was hoping that a by-product of doing this can solve the problem with printing from Firefox, but it didn't.
I would be very grateful for a solution to this problem.
I continued to use IE with no problems printing. But then after Firefox 3.0 came out I gave it another go - and the problem seems to have been resolved. No matter how much time I spend in another tab and select print, it behaves as it should. Thank God - Firefox is so much better than IE.
I tried to search Toshiba A665-14R drivers but drivers are not available for Windows 10, if I'm looking for the section Drivers on the toshiba Web site and select my computer model A665-14R then no driver rises, I think toshiba assuming that A665-14R cannot install Windows 10 rather I have 8 GB of RAM & CPU Intel i7 with a 3D graphics card! Its not like my laptop is old and cannot load windows 10, Microsoft has already tested and approved my laptop to window windows installed 10, since I have installed 10 my laptop works fine but I am not able to install TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor, Synaptics Pointing Device Driver, installation of equipment TOSHIBA TOSHIBA value added package Etc Etc
Its really annoying that I can't scroll down pages because the Synaptics pointing device has no update
Any help please?
This model is quite old and has been supported for Win7. I can just say... no luck. A lot of older machines may well work with newer operating systems, but they are not officially supported.
What should do? Try to check if the drivers, tools and utilities for a newer machine with similar hardware can be used on your laptop Satellite A.
I had the similar problem in the past with Vista and no supported Win7.
