Hello
Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.
Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.
Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.
Public share = network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks. For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions
General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

I have a portable desktop and win7 winXP connected via a wireless router. Can see the XP machine with the file full access Win 7 but not vice versa. On XP, clicking on C: of the laptop gives error "C: is not accessible. You have no permissions... "How can I fix it? As far as I can tell all together relevant upward is correct on Win7. FTP problems and printer network in windows 7
Hello Experts,
We use an FTP server based on linux to save MS Office files on it and the PC client are Windows XP and Win7 and use MS Office 2003 + 2007 + 2010.
There no problem at all on XP based machines regardless of the version of MS Office to connect to the FTP.
Also, there is no problem on Win7 machines using Office 2003.
But there is the problem where we use Office 2007 or 2010 on a Win7 based machine. The problem is that the option ' add/modify Ftp location' never appears in MS Office applications. If we are able to add FTP through the card reader option, he is able to open the FTP files at very slow speed, but he never recorded any file on ftp after editing or having a few new files.
Also, there is another problem that is a little different but I put the link here, maybe he has links with the above problem.

Greetings programs,
I signed up for 35 G internet with Brighthouse lightning in August of last year. Worked great for two months, then started getting more slow slow and capped speed DL 12 G.
BrightHouse over the last two weeks came out and replaced all the cables on the House, the street and poles near home. Replaced twice modem (Motorola, only an Arris, now a huge Ubee modem. Thinking it was my four year old and put DLink upgraded router to a Linksys AC1600 model +. I even spent two days and six hours on the phone with supervisiors to Brighthouse trying different things. Nobody seems to know what to do. When I bought this laptop that is Windows 8... and has been finally updated to 8.1.
BUT...
I'm still a bottle neck to 12g on the laptop... but devices ALL wireless, three tablets, three phones, PS3 (connected, but capped by Sony at 20G) etc. are the actual speed. ONLY my laptop is capped at 12 the wire or wireless... BUT when I got the service in August of 2014 all worked for two months. Laughing out loud.
I have rand scans using malicious software Bytesand Microsoft Security Essentials to see NOTHING infect my laptop. I am at a loss now what to do.
Need help...
Hello @NeuroMan42,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.
I read your post on how your laptop's Wi - Fi connection keeps dropping, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!
To re - establish a coherent link between your laptop and the network, I recommend later in this document on troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8). This should help to run a diagnostic on your system using the network and Internet troubleshooting, as well as measures to maintain your system over the wireless network.
In addition, I suggest also follows the steps below to ensure that your power management settings do not interfere with
the connection to the network:
1. open DEVICE MANAGER
2. open the NETWORK CARDS
3. right click on the WiFi adapter for the pc and left click on PROPERTIES
4. click on POWER up.
5. remove the check mark beside : ALLOW the COMPUTER TO TURN THIS DEVICE SAVE START STOP
6. click on OK
7. close DEVICE MANAGER and test. -

How I can run XP and Win7 on separate hard drives and one PC?
I had a HD crash all using XP Pro. I bought a new 1 TB hard drive. I got a free upgrade to Win7 with my PC. I proceeded to program my new hard drive with XP and made good. When I bnotted I was asked if I wanted to go to Win7 or if I wanted to an earlier version. Worked pretty well. 2 OS - XP Pro and Win7 with their own hard drive.
Last week, I discovered 2 very important programs have to use XP. I bought another hard drive; and now my life is quickly falling away. I have worked with Dell throughout the day and have the first hard drive using XP but I'm having some difficulties to paginate in Win7. He suggested, I use the function F2 to setup and change the sequence of boot but that takes a lot of extra time. And now my (currently (E) CR reader contains a description of hard disk)
Can anyone provide a solution to this.
Help a dummy! Please, I beg you!

I have 2 GB external usb external hard drive that appears in the XP and Win7 system tray, but not in my computer/workstation?
When I go to the management of computer disk/storage/management - is not there in XP but it is for Win7.
How to work various PC and diferent OS?
If you view the contents of the external drive, I think that the first folder contains a USB driver that you need to install to run properly, if you cannot view the contents of drive I'm sure you can download the driver for Western Digital. I think that the work of readers well on Windows 7 installs with 3 USB ports, but drivers are needed for USB 2.

I found the problem (s), even if I am always left with a few questions.
During this process, I have disabled the firewall, but that did not help. However, I noticed 'tweaks' accessed via the tab 'Advanced' in 'Microsoft Firewall' which looked like, they must be checked in order to access the internet. I checked these and reintroduced the firewall. After I got things working, I unchecked them and things still worked so I obviously don't understand what these parameters.
The solution:
(1) I have to go straight from the modem cable to the computer. I can't have a cable modem, router wireless, computer, even if using hard wire, and even if this same configuration works with another computer. Also, I can't use a cable length to go from modem to the computer. So, it seems to have had a problem of cable length. Power problem? Only connected to this computer devices are the mouse, the keyboard and the Ethernet. Would not this be fixed with an upgrade of the power supply? Or is it due to the quality of the Ethernet hardware on the motherboard? It's a Dell Vostro 200.
(2) in back and forth between configurations while following the problem, you must think to unplug the modem to reset between each configuration. You may have stumbled upon the solution, otherwise he's not shot. Also, I unplugged the cable from the modem when you reset data cable - do not know if it was necessary. I wanted to limit the degrees of freedom that I had a lot, as it was.

Update XP, Vista and win7 PC with disk ssd
Hello
I have 3 computers with XP, Vista and Win7.
I wonder if computers laptops XP and Vista (sata) will be able to get the most out of the SSD HDD?
The sine qua non of not losing a lot of performance, is that the bios ahci mode available for hard disk?
Is there something else?
Some older computers, laptops and desktops may not use a SSD HDD?I have an external SATA enclosure for a disk hard 2.5 "regular who was not particularly to adapt to an SSD HDD. It fit? I'm wanting to copy the contents of all of the hard drive to the hard drives(xp,vista,win7) on the new discs, including the hidden partition which has the OS on it with something like Norton ghost or acronis true image software. Are there suggestions which we use, and which cable (what is a sata to usb cable?) do I need for the migration if I use a laptop computer to copy these disks?
Does anyone have any suggestions of what SSD to use? I'm looking for a 120gig SATA 3 with faster speeds.
Thanks in advance
Hello
3 SSD have more fast read and write times when they are installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface. You may be able to search online by using your favorite search engine to know the different manufacturers.
SATA cables would be also faster to transfer the data.
