Cannot install SP2 successfully updated both the windows and a manual update through microsoft Web site, it asks me to download the analysis tool that drives me to install KB947821 Hotfix but he hangs and never moved. Can someone help please, I followed several instructions of the other forums without result, I slot through windows vista Home premium with a 32but SP1. I need SP2 to make some of my programs work including glass fundamental living. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Hello

    1. you receive all of the error codes or errors during the installation of SP2 and when the system update tool crashes?

    Method 1:

You can try to run the SFC scan and check if you can run (KB947821) system update readiness tool.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

If you're still having problems, then try to install SP2 manually in the clean boot state.

    Method 2:

Clean boot will start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and help to eliminate software conflicts.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

After starting in minimal mode try to install the update manually.

    a. Download Vista SP2 by following the link.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=891ab806-2431-4D00-afa3-99ff6f22448d & displaylang = in & displaylang = in

    b. double-click the downloaded file and click Run and follow the wizard to install it.

Note: After installing all updates, please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7, mentioned in the article to boot.

  • Cannot install SP2 on different laptops Toshiba

I want to install the new SP2 on Satego X 200 and a Satellite P200.

The installation fails with the error code E_FAIL(0x80004005) on the Satego and ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED(0x80070005) on the Satellite (both Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1). I tried all of the solutions provided by MS, on the Web and in various newsgroups. Nothing works, so I think it's a problem between MS and Toshiba.
I had no problem with the installation of SP2 on three non-Toshiba notebooks.

Maybe your Windows installation is damaged or incorrect?

What you can try is to back up your data and run recovery, then install SP2.

    S1800-712 Windows XP
I wonder if someone can help me. I tried to install SP2 and the message "Power" required for this upgrade but the laptop is plugged in, so it is not relying on the battery?
I tried to take on the battery and installation, same message.
I have a feeling that the problem is related to the fact that every time I turn on the laptop, on his boots upwards then before the login screen windows appears that he goes into hibernation, I can press the power and then button sparks in life and go to the login screen. The battery should replace - I ordered an and will try to reinstall sp2
Do you think my power settings are corrupt?
    Thank you

    Hi Richard,

You use the utility Toshiba Powere management rather than the Microsoft option?

If yes I will try to re-install the Toshiba utility, then goping through various power options to ensure that you are running on current alternative.

You can also get back to you the options of Microsoft Power even if they lack the flexibility of the version of Toshiba.

  • Vista - Cannot install SP2. Cannot install checksur.exe

For Vista 64 SP2 fails to install on my machine (I have SP1). I get error 0 x 80040002 (no such interface - wish he told me what interface on which object but it is too much).

After trying all sorts of things, I have downloaded and run installation for "analysis of system update tool." After a very long period the installation came back and said it was successful. But I can't find the checksur.exe anywhere on my machine.

Everything I found was a new dir, d:\windows\checksur. This directory contains only 5 .cab files. I have not found the checksur.exe in any of them. Windows desktop search fails to find the file also (is not surprising given that I searched all c:\ and d:\ and came up empty.) Note: c:\ is my 64 bit XP and d:\ where my Vista 64 SP1.

So, where is this tool or do I have to do now that I have installed these .cab files?

    Hello

We will try the steps below to solve problems installing SP2 for vista.

Step 1: There are a few steps to keep in mind before you install service pack 2.

    For more information visit:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-Vista/learn-how-to-install-Windows-Vista-Service-Pack-2-SP2

Step 2: Close or disable any applications that may be running, restart the computer, and then install the service pack

Important These steps may increase your security risk. These steps may also make the computer or the network more vulnerable to attack from malicious users or malicious software such as viruses. We recommend the process that this article describes to enable programs to operate as they are designed for, or to implement specific program features. Before you make these changes, we recommend that you evaluate the risks that are associated with implementing this process in your particular environment. If you decide to implement this process, take additional measures to protect the system. We recommend that you use this process only if you really need this process.

During installation, one of the most frequent causes of failure occurs when a third-party application holds open a file or locks a file that the service pack installer should use. For example, an application third-party antivirus or antispyware may cause this problem. To minimize this risk, follow these steps:

    a. close all applications and restart your computer.

    b. Once your computer has restarted, disable any antivirus or any antispyware application that can load during the startup process. You can normally disable the notification area application. This area is located in the bottom right corner of the computer screen. To disable an application in the notification area, follow these steps:

    i. right click on the icon of the third-party program.

II. clickClose, disable, outputor an equivalent term in the list of options. If these options are not available, you may open the application and then close or disable in the application.

    c. as soon as you close the antivirus or the antispyware software, try to clickhereto install the download package full of the service pack that you previously downloaded from the following Microsoft Download Center Web site.

    d. After completing the installation of the service pack, enable the antivirus or the antispyware software that you disabled in the previous steps.

Step 3: Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Try the steps instep 1 in the article to put your computer in clean boot mode.
