You must reinstall .NET Framework. If you decide to remove all the using the removal tool, start with the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 and then do all the updates and then go back to 1.1 etc. Use Windows Update to guide you on what versions and updates you need.

Hi, the bad news is that .NET Framework is damaged and you will need to reinstall it.

    Use it as a guide:

When you try to install an update for .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update '0 x 643' error code or error code Windows install "1603".

When I had problems with the .NET Framework and had to reinstall, I used the cleaning tool to remove all frames on my computer (I have cleaned and repaired all versions like a month since I got the same error as you and the month following, that I had another problem with another version, then I cleaned up the problems all - no since).

With the help of WU (automatic), I then installed .NET Framework 3.5 and then returned to 1.1, 1.1 SP. Leave it to THE day those and if all those optional went for them.

After all, I even threw in .NET Framework 4.

It was annoying and time consuming but now .NET Framework is up to date and works well.

As to why it became corrupt, who knows.

  • Error code: 800b0100 (unable to install KB975558 & KB981322)

Whenever I run Windows (Vista Home Premium Version 6 SP2) update, KB975558 & KB981322 do not install.  I get the following error: "Code 800 b 0100 Windows Update has encountered an unknown error."  Why?  And, more importantly, how can I fix?

    Thank you very much

    Chuck.

After months of frustration of always having these two updates fail, I went on the www.microsoft.com site, clicked on 'Support', then the Knowledge Base.  Searched KB975558, got 4 results, clicked on Windows Vista on left, who got up to 1 reply.  Kept drilling down until he gave me the opportunity to download and install it manually.  Tried and it seems to have worked.  Have done the same with KB983122 with the same results.  Restarted and machine is still ongoing.  Always a good sign.

This may have solved the problem.  I will follow for a few weeks and try to make account at the time.

I was not able to install IE8 cumulative rollups of this month or last month.  The above error is what I get when I try.   The attempt takes for always (up to two hours).

I did CHKDSK F, no problem.  I ran update readiness tool - it signals that all is well.  Last month, I downloaded the standalone installation package, and he could not install, too.

I am logged in as administrator with UAC in diminished (silent) mode.

I don't have a suite of security of any kind and never have.  Virus/spyware unique periodical scans are negative.

Any thoughts?   My guess is that because of the time it takes because he even trying to install, it scans the WinSXS directory, and meeting a manifesto that he dislikes somewhere.   (I had a problem like this when installing SP1, and it turned to be a manifesto of zero byte buried breast... but there isn't that any zero byte is manifested here now - I just checked).

If it is a manifesto of damaged or broken, is it possible to identify that you are, or to obtain much more detailed information about where and why the installation fails?
