XP Mode on Windows 7 Home Premium

I downloaded XP Mode on my Windows 7 Home Premium computer laptop - is it possible to use it?

After trying to open "Windows XP mode" I get the message "Windows XP Mode is not available on this edition of Windows". Especially after seizure that I was running Home Premium 64-bit before downloading, I was certain it would work! Did I forget something before downloading (the 500 MB...) file? Is it possible to make XP Mode work on Home Premium 64-bit?

Thank you.

Hello DiglDixon,

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
Use the following steps:
(1) right click on the program
2) click Properties
3) click on the Compatibility tab
(4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com), or any other 3rd party software virtualization and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can find the virtualization software free that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.

What are some ways that you can get older programs to work on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thank you

Marilyn

  • You can install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP with Windows 7 Home Premium Mode?

Windows 7 Home Premium with Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode.

I'm currently under Vista Premium and just-ordered Windows 7 Premium.  I noticed that Microsoft offers only the XP Mode in their professional, Ultimate and Enterprise versions. Once I've upgraded to Windows7 I will be able to download and install Virtual PC and XP mode and make it work in my Premium version manually?  Yes my AMD BIOS supports.  Thank you!

Only, you would have the same problems with 32-bit software in a 64 bit environment where it may or may not work as the others. XP mode is reserved for people who have a software who refuse, for some reason, to upgrade and that run only under Windows XP. But if you consider that Windows XP was introduced in 2001 and it is now 2009 and 1 other OS released and another is about to release... it's time to upgrade. Jonathan Matthis aka "7test" on MSN QnA

  • I want to back up the files on my computer Windows 7 Home Premium to my window 7 Professiional with XP mode

I normally like to keep the files from my old computer to a backup drive and just drag individual files from this drive on my new computer. It will not work from a folder of encrypted file. On XP, I was able to drag the files on the old office and then on the backup drive. With Windows 7, everything I have on the desktop when I try it is short without the real files. Is there a way to create a backup of Windows 7 Home Premium, which is not encrypted?

Thank youl mine seems to be the opposite, but your response has been the key. Because I was with a left click, I used a right click and got a menu. Move it that icon has been highlighted, so I moved to files and clicked and copied the files! Thanks again!

  • Satellite M40: installation of Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade my Satellite M40 (PSM40A - 03 K 009) for Windows 7 Home Premium, but towards the end of the installation, my laptop reboots and freezes you try to start Windows 7.

I restarted in safe mode, and it seems to get stuck loading \windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys.

I have tried everything I can think: Startup Repair running on the installation disc, install the latest versions of the drivers, update BIOS, disk reformatting, etc, but nothing seems to work.

    Can anyone help?

    See you soon

    Hello Rob

Please don t get me wrong, but this old notebook was designed for Windows XP Home edition. I imagine that you have problems with the installation of Win7, but I'm afraid that there is not much you can do about it.

This laptop old models are not supported for Win7 and Toshiba will not offer some updates as the BIOS update. If you want to use the newer operating system probably you must also update your hardware. Maybe it's time for the new laptop computer. ;)

  • Qosmio X 500 - 10W: old software with Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hello

First excuse my bad English, I'm french.

    A month ago, I bought an X 500 - 10W.

I would like to re - install two old games that turned on my satellite M30-104 with windows Xp.

I just can not install those on the Qosmio that works with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, even if I use the compatibility mode.

Is there a way to make these ancient works of software?

I found the virtual computer (for windows Xp mode), but it only works with Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate.

    Thanks for your replies.

This with virtual PC is good idea and you should get the right version.
I mean if you have games that are designed for Windows XP Home edition, then you know that this will not work on the new operating system to Win7.

  • Random BSOD - Toshiba Qosmio X 500 13R (Windows 7 Home Premium x 64) have min

I had some problems with random BSOD on my laptop.
The laptop itself is relatively new, bought in March of this year, very good model but refently that I started to have problems.

One day I closed the laptop and reflections he entered mode 'sleep' but a few hours later, when I opened a BSOD looked at me in the face, the processor part was hot enough so I restarted immediately to lower the temperature, but I remember the BSOD had something "Kernel Power" written on it.

It happened 3 - 4 times since then, the third time it happened that I enabled the logging minidump so now I also the log since the last time it happened, can someone take a look and tell me what is happening and how to fix it?

I still have a warranty on this baby so I can get it fixed for free if it's a hardware problem, I still have some important work to do this week (already almost lost a crucial project file on it) so I want to try to fix it myself for now, until I get this project done.

The BSOD can be caused by a hardware problem software.
You can check if the new OS install would solve this if this software issue then a new operating system installation is the good workaround. Before you start an OS install, back up data ;)

But of course the question could be linked to the material; for example the high temperature.
You said that you have noticed a higher temperature everything to happen.
So maybe the memory modules are affected by a higher temperature, and this leads to BSOD. Often blocked fans are reason for this. Check to see if dust and debris must be removed you can remove the dust using a jet of compressed air.

But if this is not enough, I'd recommend checking the material under conditions of warranty

  • my windows 7 Home premium is now telling me that is not valid

Windows 7 Home premium is now say that it is not valid, it comes to start Monday

    Hello

It may be interesting to try windows System Restore as follows.

Shut down the laptop.  Windows system restore is usually better run in Mode without failure.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  When it has loaded, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours before the validation problem occurred, and then do the restore.  When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.

    Kind regards

  • Windows Vista Home Premium update problem step 3 of 3-100% complete

My Windows Vista Home Premium began the automatic update, reached the point of view "Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-100% complete.". Do not turn off your computer. »

Now he's just running for hours with this screen showing...

I can't say if this update will end finally alone, or if there is a problem and I should just reboot.

How long should I wait before abandoning me and shut down the computer?

    Thank you.

    Hi JIB1955,

Thank you for visiting the forums of answers.microsoft.com.

It's been a while, we can think that the update is stuck and will not continue any further.  You can press Ctrl, Alt & Del and open Task Manager.  You should see the update on the Application tab, and you can select it and press end task.
Click on the start ORB > Control Panel > programs and features, on the left, select view installed updates and see if the update that was being Setup finished installing.  If it does not have and does not appear on the list, you can restart your computer and try to install the update mode without failure.

To do this, restart your pc and even if your pc is booting press the key F8 on your keyboard to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.  On the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode and press ENTER.
Your computer will boot mode safe by using only the basic drivers and services, hopefully allowing Windows Update to complete the installation of the update, you are having problems with.

  • Error code 80070005 when trying to update Windows using Windows 7 Home Premium

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, upgrade from Vista on a Sony Vaio VGN-FW350D. The upgrade was promotional as part of the purchase of the laptop in the Canada.

I had no other pressing issues which have not been resolved. IHAVE run the built-in Windows based Registry Cleaner (like a cleaner 'free') and the dreagmenter of disk as part of the troubleshooting process.

I have tried everything I can find on the setting of the following problem:

When trying to update Windows (ie. Download updates of security or Microsoft security patches, etc.), the following is displayed: "Windows could not search for new updates - an error occurred when searching for new updates for your...» Code 80070005. It gives you the 'Try Again' button, but who does not work either.

Also, after running in a Fixit 'Microsoft' by default and aggressive modes, change my registration to God knows what state by applying other methods proposed CIHI, now when I try an update of Windows, the "last check for updates '"and updates have been installed"the both indicate '' never. '' BTW, I have the restore points before you make these changes, so no worries there.

I would like to point out that, as far as I know, this problem has persisted since January 1, 2011, when I downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, which would not update or another. Before installing MS Security Essentials, I ran Avast, I have re-installed after removing Ms Sec Ess.

In short, Windows update does not work, giving Code 80070005. Can anyone help solve this problem with me? Thank you...

    Ralph

    Hello

Error code 80070005 means generally that you're not quite allowed to install updates.

If the problem persists, follow the steps mentioned below and the Coachman.

    Step 1:

All first please confirm that you have logged on to an account with administrative privileges.

To connect to the administrator account

    a. Click Start, right click on computer, then click on manage.

    b. expand local users and groups, and then click the users folder.

    c. right-click on the connection of the administrator, and then click Properties, and then remove that checking the account is disabled.

Now, restart the computer and log on to the administrator account and try to update again.

    Step 2:

You could disable your anti-virue and malware/spyware protection temporarily to see if they are contradictory with the update.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.  In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 3:

Uninstall Security avast software, install the update day, then reinstall Avast.
