XP pro do not start after changing the Boot.ini file

The problem is that my C: partition Windows 7
D: has XP Pro

These should be considered right resp. partitions 1 and 2?

I wanted to first XP pro to start the default partition.

A few days ago, I made a change to the boot.ini file. But since XP Pro was not starting at all.

I tried XP Pro to start first that the default partition.

Given that XP Pro and my D: drive have not been starting, I consulted the boot.ini file in C:, Windows 7 partition and I changed the order (i.e. partition No.) in the boot.ini file and saved it to the required location, i.e. D:/WINDOWS/pss.
through my drive C: of work, i.e. the partition of Windows 7, but it still does not work because apparently even though I save here, the actual values and the paths of the partition are not actually be changed on the system. I confirmed this by going into the CMD shell switching to D: and by running the command D: > bootcfg.
Apparently any values I save in the boot.ini file that I save as a text file or "All files" in D:/WINDOWS/pss/it does not actually change in the system because whenever I run the command bootfg values are remaining still and not able to be changed, because apparently it is not saved in XP Pro and the D : partition. No matter what I do and what I put in the boot.ini file to access the values through the windows 7 partition, the values that bootcfg returns me are always the same and he refuses to change the name of path or anything else. No matter what orders, I also put in bootcfg himself.

These are the values that bootcfg gives me:
default: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS

Boot entries:
Boot entry ID: 1
Friendly name of operating system: MS Windows XP Professional
Path: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
The operating system load options: / noexecute = OPTIN/FASTDETECT/usepmtimer

My XP Pro partition is simply not booting, and it of my main partition and has all my work. It is imperative that it starts.

My Windows CD is also not start because apparently my DVD drive does not work properly, I had the anti malware threatfire (ThreatFire) installed on my XP D:Windows program disk but have uninstalled just in case it was blocking my changes to the system.

On C:Win7, I put the default operating system option in the Advanced tab for Win7 and the D:XP Pro to XP Pro, when he was the starter and work. Now I can only access my files D:XP Pro Player C:Win7. But XP is not just start. What shd - I do? Thks.

I don't have a very practical windows CD but my CD/DVD drive is not read and does not properly.

Looks like your original post stated that your cd/dvd does not work.

Respectfully, you will continue these hap hazard patches and your computer will not start at all. I'll try to help you once again. Please follow closely.

Start your computer by loading Windows 7. Click HERE and download EasyBCD. Install the software in trial version. Once installation is complete open EasyBCD. You will see an interface like the image below. Click Add a new entry.

A new screen appears as in the image below. Use the drop down menu to select Windows NT / 2 k/XP / 2 k 3 as described below. Type the name of the operating system in the box below. Of course, it will be Windows Xp (you can add the home or Pro to the name if you want). Make sure now that there is a check mark in the box "automatically detect the correct player. Once you have completed these steps click on 'add an entry '. That's all! You are finished. If all goes well, and if you have followed these steps carefully, there, now you have a system dual boot.

You can now start working on your cd/dvd problem.

  • Satellite Pro L40 does not start after changing the BIOS settings

Changed some settings in the bios last night and now when I boot I get a screen black lights flash and hard drive lights up but nothing on the screen.

There is no password on the bios... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

I put a windows disc now, I hear the disc spin but nothing on the screen

(I think that I have come to the right place on the forum)

    It s a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 model psl4be.

    Thank you

    > There was no bios password... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

You can set the default BIOS ONLY inside the BIOS access BIOS by pressing F2 or at the beginning of the initialization of the order

But I doubt that this problem is related to the BIOS.
Maybe it s just a simple bad luck that this problem happened exactly after change something in the BIOS.

Try connecting an external monitor and check if you can see something on the 2nd screen.

  • OptiPlex 755 USFF does not start after changing the cmos battery

I have a desktop Optiplex 755 USFF requiring the cmos battery to replace. After the replacement of the computer will not start. It brings up the menu windows start, the sasfe mode, safe mode with network set mode command prompt, security, last know good configuration and boot normally. Any option will bring to the top of the WIndows XP loading screen and then re-boot of the computer right back to the start screen. A big loop. I can get the hard drive to boot in an Optiplex GX280 without problem. I was told of the motherboard needs to be replaced, but I changed the units of the system and the same thing with this hard drive.

I tried to reinstall the operating system and get all the way to "starting windows" and then the blue screen stop error message 0x0000007B (0xF7A10524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) dead. The computer is WIndows XP SP3, 1 GB of ram with 80 GB hard drive. It seems that the Setup program does not recognize the hard drive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

After several hours of experimentation, I finally found the correct BIOS settings in order to get the computer to boot. There are three BIOS settings that need to be changed or check settings by default so that it can work. SATA 0 must be activated, SATA operations must be changed from AHCI, ATA and in the modular Bay, by default "far-sighted" should be replaced by the IDE. Save the settings and start the computer to the right upwards.

  • Windows does not start after changing the partition with external software

    Hello

I messed up and followed some bad advice.  Water under the bridge, but I want to recover my bootcamp partition if possible.  I've seen several messages with the right process, but decided to post hear instead of assumptions.  I am running OS X El Capitan on an early 2011 MacBook Pro.  My 256 GB SSD is a bit pressed and tried to be too stingy with the Boot Camp partition, so my current troubles after resizing.  I have 10 Windows on the bootcamp partition.

I'm going to throw a bunch of data from my survey here.

  • Windows could not start after activating the boot.

    Hi all

I have a very serious problem.

A few lost technology from Microsoft asked that I have to do the following:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135.

Immediately after the restart, I was confronted with the following message:

    Windows could not start.

Bcdedit does not work - the requested system device cannot be found.

GParted does not work - cannot load the ntfs module: invalid argument.

How can it be fixed, please?

It is an extremely urgent situation which must be resolved immediately, because I use this computer for work and need to return to work on a large commercial project Monday. Forget the original question that MS tech was trying to 'help' with, everything what I need now is to be able to get into Windows, or even just make this record available and accessible on the LAN computer.

Type MSCONFIG in the start menu to run the System Configuration utility.

Are you able to boot mode safe mode with command prompt?  If Yes, then you can search for the file "dir /s /a RtlGina2.dll" lists the location where you moved to.  Then you can just copy (path\filename) c:\Windows/System32\(filename)

If you do not work in safe mode, then you can boot from a XP disc and go into the recovery console and do the same thing.
