Mouse cursor is not visible at all, Vista x 64 SP2.
01/15/10, computer of my girlfriend automatically installed several updates Windows day and then blue screened. Updates appear to have installed successfully, but immediately after restarting, the mouse cursor has encountered a problem in that it is completely invisible except when positioned in the very upper left corner of the screen (an area of about 100 x 100 pixels, I guess). The only solution that I might know which allowed us to see the cursor anywhere else on the screen was to return to the path of the mouse pointer. Change the pointer system is no anything, either - every diagram shows the cursor like schema by default when I can see him at all (with the active pointer trails). It is really annoying, and it makes my girlfriend and me crazy. I want to keep the computer up-to-date, but if MS updates kill something so essential as the mouse cursor, I can't do it.
Updates that were installed were:
Updated platform for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems (KB971644)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 update for Windows Vista Service Pack 2... (KB974470)
Update for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems (KB960362)
Definition update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB 972696 (definition of 1.71.2259.0)The system is a HP Pavilion Slimline with Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33 Ghz), 4 GB of RAM, Vista 64 SP2 and the graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE.
Hello
You can first try to check the mouse settings by clicking on Control Panel -> mouse -> Pointer Options -> uncheck the "Enhance pointer precision" and check if it solves the problem.
Now you need to reduce the hardware acceleration on your computer and look for the number, to determine this, click on the view tab and then, under DirectX features, check to see whether DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP Texture acceleration appear as disabled. If this is not the case, try to reduce hardware acceleration.
1. open the screen resolution by clicking on the Start button, Control Panel, and then, under appearance and personalization, click on adjust the screen resolution.
2. click on advanced settings.
3. click on the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4 move the hardware acceleration to min slider.
Now search for the question.

XP SP1 and SP3 are mentioned, but I can run latest Firefox on XP SP2?
I run XP SP2 and not load XP SP3. I run Firefox 3.6.22 because Roboform fooled me with a lie. When I bought Roboform, I was "guaranteed all updates AND upgrades for LIFE", but when Firefox 3.6, there was an apparent RoboForm complicity so that new versions of Roboform have been blocked from working in Firefox 3.6 (at the same time, of course, removed Firefox browser Firefox password management) , and clients that Roboform had guaranteed 'upgrades for life' were NOT excluded in to avoid the breaking of Roboform promise/warranty for them.
I will switch to Linux, but I use LastPass (instead of Roboform) up there. I'll never pay for Roboform a penny, and I always post my experience with their dishonesty whenever the forum is conducive.
I can switch browsers, but I remain all too quickly with Firefox if you can tell me what version of Firefox will work CORRECTLY with XP SP2 (and be maintained properly)? A link to it would be helpful.
Thank you
Grace bird songsThe plugin list below is partially, but not completely, correct.
I use Microsoft Office and do not use most of the plug-ins listed.Yes, I use it for years now and never had a problem with it. You can protect/encrypt your passwords in the main Manager of pw of firefox with a password is asked once per session (if not, a person with physical access to your computer could read the passwords).
Use a master password to protect stored passwords and logins

Layout, simply change line title to the foreground and freezes the screen except for the ability to close the page and return to the page where Page Setup was invoked. This print preview a gray monochrome page with the normal menu features that normally respond except the function of setting of the Page. Print prints a blank page still. Noticed problems with Firefox beta versions 10 and 11 and 12, with XP Pro SP2 x 64. Firefox version 11 has no such problems with Windows 7 ult x 64.

Tecra A8, WinXP SP2 - number with built-in speakers
Hello
I know that this issue has been brought on several times, but I can't find a solution.
I recently inherited a Toshiba Tecra A8. Problem is: the built-in speakers can't seem to work, but the sound is fine on speakers headphones or external. Speakers used to work at a certain time in the past, but the former owner cannot tell me what caused the change suddenly. Here's what I did, chronologically, after going through several forums:
-SP3 was installed when I got the computer. I tried to go back to SP2.
-J' reinstalled XP (due, machine was too slow). SP2 came with the installation CD.
-J' installed two XP patches that were supposed to solve the problem: KB835221 and KB888111
-J' I re-installed the Realtek HD Audio codec
-J' I always try to inhibition/reactivate after all that I do, even before or after a reboot. Here's what I can tell so far:
-Its icon is present on the system tray. All volumes are up, either on the Windows audio Manager or the Realtek one.
-I have no BACK beeps.
-I'm still in SP2. Tried to move to SP3 (on this new installation of XP, of course).
-Until I have reinstall Realtex HD Audio, the "in-house" option listed under "Audio i/o" has been shown, but I couldn't access it. After reinstalling, it is simply gone.I think that's about it. I came across the same solutions on various forums or discussion groups. I've been looking for two days now, nothing helps. The computer has never been dropped or damaged, and since then, it seems that many people experience (d) the same problem as mine, I'm sure this isn't a hardware problem. Well, I hope this isn't.
So there. I invite you, no, please use your magic and a flawless, absolute solution which will give back me the joy of listening to Justin Bieber in peace. Or something else.
Thanks in advance!

T5500 1.66GHzWhat you did was right, but I m missing more important information: y at - it the same problem when you install original recovery image and test with the factory settings? If yes then we can say this isn't a hardware problem.
Now, we can only speculate if there can be unwanted hardware. Is that sound card works correctly, but somehow your internal speakers are disabled.Reason is little mixer port audio jack. Maybe they are blocked somehow. Who knows?

Tecra M9-136 - BSOD during Vista SP2 update
Tecra M9-136 asked this morning to upgrade to the Vista SP2 and in the process the BSOD 0x0000007E arrived. Restarted in Mode safe and continuous Setup and then finally reported that the update failed - and came back to SP1. It took most of the morning.
It will start in Safe Mode, but on a start normal, Vista SP1 gets through fingerprint recognition and then fails with the same BSOD (there is regarding the display of the desktop).
The laptop has BIOS 1.80 level. I tried in safe mode to install 1.90 but he told me that the battery has insufficient charge and the AC adapter is not attached. Both wrong.
Stuck - need advice. Could this be a hard failure? Can't see how I can update whatever it is if it's a soft fault.
Thank youHave you tried to make back the OS to an earlier time before the SP2 installation started?
You can do it in safe mode. -
Tecra S1: BSOD & reboot after installing SP2
After installation of SP2 for Windows XP on three Tecra S1 of the computer crashes whenever the power cord is out of the machines. Then it restarts and restarts until the machine stops completely.
The error ocures on three Tecra S1. It seems that there is a conflict with the pre-installed Windows XP Pro and the drivers Toshiba and SP2.
Someone at - it an idea how to solve this very annoying problem?
Thank you
Chris
Hello Chris,
the SP2 blocking ActiveX Toshiba Management Console modules, so you must install the fixed version TMC v3.5.2.
However, to avoid any problem, after installation of SP2 on Tecra S1, you need to update:
-Battery BT and utility (only for machines with BT)
Management - Toshiba console
-Toshiba Hotkey utility
Utilities - Toshiba
Energy saving - Toshiba
Toshiba - mobile extensions -
Qosmio E15: How to upgrade Media Center 2002 SP1 to SP2?
Hello
My Qosmio E15-AV101 was shupped with Media Center 2002 SP1. I did the automatic update from Microsoft and also downloaded the SP2 package. Still, the upgrade process fails. When I'm tired, I contacted MS technical assistance for the reason my Media center rejecting the upgrade. Microsoft replyed than the version supplied with Toshiba and other equipment manufacturers are customized to match the hardware manufacturer full compatibility.
Quote:
"
Notes of this part of the OEM and Microsoft agreement is to allow Original Equipment Manufacturer support for the products they have installed on a particular computer. The agreement was presented only the OEM often change and pre-install Microsoft software on their computers to ensure compatibility and to take full advantage of your computer s hardware. This means that the OEM has expertise on your Microsoft software on your computer in particular works.
"So, is the solution to my problem. How to upgrade?
Hello
First of all it is a user to user forum and you won't find anyone from Toshiba.
Secondly, as far as I know that your device was designed for an American market and if you are looking for drivers or updates you must use a Web from Toshiba site we:
http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_home.jspIf you have any problems with your unit, so you must contact the ASP (authorized service partner Toshiba) in your country.
As far as I know that Windows Vista is not official on the market. Maybe the end of the year or next year.
I can t believe that you are not available to install the updates. I checked a few comments and Microsoft updates have always worked. As I suggested at the beginning if you have some problems with your unit has so contact the service of Toshiba.

Cannot install SP2 on different laptops Toshiba
I want to install the new SP2 on Satego X 200 and a Satellite P200.
The installation fails with the error code E_FAIL(0x80004005) on the Satego and ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED(0x80070005) on the Satellite (both Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1). I tried all of the solutions provided by MS, on the Web and in various newsgroups. Nothing works, so I think it's a problem between MS and Toshiba.
I had no problem with the installation of SP2 on three non-Toshiba notebooks.Maybe your Windows installation is damaged or incorrect?
What you can try is to back up your data and run recovery, then install SP2.
