XP won't boot up - just a blank black screen before "Newspapers Windows" appears.

I hooked up another hard drive and allowed the error checking in the tools to check it out when you restart.  That's when it started.  When I remove the player, all right.  There are actually 2 discs and they both have the same problem I only activated this control on one of them.  So obviously the problem is not hardware.  I could check with various utilities and everything was fine.  I can't imagine THAT XP has a 2 TB disks problem dealing with.  I should also mention that previously used on Linux.

Any ideas anyone?  Anywhere to check to disable this check on restart thing?

So I got 2 hard drives, leaving only drive C with XP and 2 new readers.  It started fine.  I added everything else and it restarted correctly.  Another mystery of Windows.

I always want to know if I can boot from a microSD card in a typical card reader.

  • Start window manager: sometimes when I started my PC I have a black screen with the Windows boot manager at the top.

Sometimes when I start my PC I have a black screen with the Windows boot manager at the top.  Although there are several options available, that nothing happens no matter what keys I hit and the only option is to shut down the computer and restart completely.  Sometimes the Boot Manager page turns and my office sometimes opens fine.  I've updated with everything Microsoft has Windows Vista and I still get this screen.  Anyone has any ideas.

Do a startup repair and see if that fixes it:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Check with the manufacture of the computer to see if you have a "recovery partition" and how to use it to restore XP or if they still have the support of Windows XP available with they can send you to usually a small fee.

Lights supply and all the rest are on. Just nothing happens. Any ideas?

I can't get in cmd.exe to reset because I can't get into windows (although through HP firmware, I can enter in "Administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe - cmd", which seems the same, but the orders that I see offered on websites do not seem to work - help?). Hello

No saving necessary data and re-installing Windows Vista might be the best option, but here
    are a few others.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

A method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is CTRL +.
ALT + DELETE - Manager tasks and tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is available by
repeatedly tapping F8 as you start. CTRL + SHIFT + ESC also begins the Task Manager.
