  I recently updated my XPS 8500 with a new power supply and a GTX 770, the original case was a little crowded. So now I got a new case for it mid-tour, but I'm stuck at the wiring on the front panel. The façade on the motherboard connectors are as follows:

  The connectors I have of the new deal are: switch, switch to Reset, Power LED, hard drive activity + and hard disk activity.

  Can someone please give me some advice of prayer of wiring? Thank you very much.

  

  This one works for me, the Reset button also works. But I can not press and hold the Power button to turn off the PC more, don't know why. But everything sorted, very happy.

  Hey guys, I recently bought a 970 and I was so happy with it I am planning a SLI version but cannot do with the mother motherboard (I've already transplanted 8700 courage on another matter) then I'd be OK transfer my CPU to a different motherboard? I already know that windows 8 is rooted in the mobo, so this isn't a problem because I'll just buy a new one. Thanks in advance for any help/response

• XPS 8300 - Ivy Bridge & RAM support

  I tried looking for a forum, post, comment... anything which confirms what is the maximum RAM supported in a Dell XPS 8300 and also whether Ivy Bridge CPU are taken in charge or not.

  I am yet to find anything conclusive (Please share if you have), so, I did the test myself and can confirm the following:

  • Ivy Bridge CPU compatibility: No.
  • Maximum RAM: 32 GB

  I tested my 8300 XPS with Intel Core i7-3770 processor (8 M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) and the system would not POST. No beep codes; just would not AFTER. Then I'm under BIOS A06, of course, this has not helped. I read on this forum someone talking about a BIOS A07 which came bundled with their XPS 8300 (0Y2MRG) of replacement motherboard. If anyone knows how to get this BIOS A07 I'd like to get my hands on it to see if it offers support of Ivy Bridge.

  Regarding the RAM, I am running 32 GB of RAM without problem. I use 4 x G.Skill RipJawsX 8 GB (1x8GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 PC3 - 10666C 9 Memory Sticks (F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL). The BIOS and OS the two report 32 GB installed and everything works well.

  I hope someone benefits from my findings and I also hope that someone out there has access to the BIOS A07 is ready to share.

  You already know the answer, but I share this as another data point and using another brand for memory.

  Maximum RAM supported Dell for this system is 16 GB. However, it works very well with 32 GB of RAM. I've used this kit of memory in mine:

  No doubt others works fine, too. The only downside is that most Dells would come with Windows 7 Home Premium installed and which only allows access to 16 GB of RAM. You must have Windows 7 Professional or ultimate edition to access all 32 GB of RAM. You can make the Windows Anytime Upgrade to buy Win7 Pro if you want to go this route, it as if by magic basically makes your existing install in Win7 Pro, so you don't have to reinstall anything.

  If you put more than 16 GB in a system of Home Premium, when you right click on computer and go to properties, you will see the memory listed as 32 GB (16 GB usable). So the operating system you will see everything, it just won't let you USE it all. Hard, there is?

  I had looked at this issue and not have anything solid for an answer so I tried myself and write about my success.

  I have a laptop of Dell XPS 15z with a new motherboard, after the old one fried. I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 using the method of system recovery and resettlement of Dell DVD. I would like to get the "copy Windows files...". "step when an error that says:

  What it means? I actually wanted to start from the DVD and remove the previous partitions to do a clean install, but now I'm afraid of. Is any way to fix this error?

  1. do you have the computer CAME pre-installed with the Windows operating system?

  2. using a system recovery disk or an installation disc?

  This problem may occur if the files in the installation disk is corrupted. However, I'd suggest the link and try to manually reinstall Windows 7 on the computer:

• Dell XPS 18, Windows 8.1 using fixed headphones hissing, update the driver Realtek!

  I solved my problem and I wanted to just document here in case someone else goes through this. Just got my new 'giant tablet to the search"Dell XPS 18 last week. He loved until I decided to use my Bose headphones to listen to SiriusXM. I bagged just about up to return the XPS when I hear a constant hissing sound coming through the headphones. So I tried to listen to something on Youtube, and even with the muted Youtube audio, I even heard a shrill whistle.  Naturally, when energy saving, kicking because none audio wasn't playing, everything went quiet, but the whistle came right back as soon as any sound played through the headphones.

  The ATTEMPT FAILED: as more irritable geeks, I did an uninstall driver full audio drivers. Then I downloaded the drivers from the Dell Support Web to ensure site I had later and did a reinstall with a few reboots. Not surprisingly, I always understood that annoying hissing static coming through the headphones. Then I found somewhere a mention to go to Realtek.

  SOLUTION: Go to the Realtek site (www.realtek.com.tw) > click on downloads in main menu > click on High Definition Audio Codecs (software) > accept the advice > download 64-bit Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1 driver only. Version R2.73. I clicked and downloaded the link US2: 64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_R273.exe (103MB). I then ran the installation program which required two reboots to install completely.

  ITS OWN PURE! The hiss is now gone when listening with headphones.  Moreover, the Dell Audio MAXX Audio Pro, which is delivered on the Dell XPS 18 works always. I don't know what hidden feature, I could have lost, but I consider that it is resolved.

• Dell XPS 8500 needs new motherboard; All recoverable parts?

  Okay, it looks like my Dell XPS 8500 which is only 2.3 years needs a new motherboard.  I was quoted $350 to fix it (90 day warranty) by Dell.  I asked Dell how much it would cost to return the warranty once I fixed it and it is $ 200 per year.  Not sure I'll go along with this.  A local technician gave me his estimate and it's $250 parts and service which includes 90 day warranty.

  Rather than take the option repair, I think to recover the coins for my next computer purchase.  My XPS 8500 has 12 GB ddr3 sdram [1, 600 mhz (2 gb x 2) + (4 x 2 GB)] and a 2 TB hard drive and the hard disk of 1 TB (from 8000 of my XPS Studio who died after 2.5 years).  All other recoverable parts here?

  All models Dell that are compatible with the latter?  8000/8500 are no longer sold.  Dell sells XPS 8900 8900 SE using DDR4 Rams.  I don't know the compatibility of the hard drive.  Dell Outlet still sells XPS 8700 expandable up to 10 windows, which uses ddr3 chips and is is compatible with the hard disk probably.

  Should not be XPS.  Actually, I prefer not to buy another XPS because I had this terrible luck with them.  I think maybe like OptiPlex business models which can have options of compatible extension of hard drive and RAM.  Anyone direct me to the configurations of these models?  Thank you.

  Some confusion here. There is none of these models as Studio XPS 8500. Amazon is the inscription incorrectly. There's a XPS 8500.

  I have a XPS 8300 i7.  I want to change the existing motherboard for Asus P8P67 PRO.  A that someone does something similar and faced problems?  Primarily, problems with a reinstall of Win 7 recovery disks.  Does anyone know that the motherboard Dell is linked to the Win 7 install?

  You must purchase a valid license for Windows 7 retail.  The license that comes with the computer is called OEM, is specific to Dell and is limited to the computer with which it is delivered.  As a general rule, the installation disk will check the BIOS to see if this is a Dell system. If this isn't the case, it will usually stop installation.  I've heard of cases where it will install, but in any case, it will not accept the product key for activation.

  Other things to watch, which are common for this type of project... various and devices on the system Panel do not always have standard connectors, so rewireing a connector is sometimes necessary.  I can't say with certainty for the 8300 in particular.  The alignment of the fixing holes can also affect the ease with which other advice can be used.

• Replaced the motherboard on XPS 8500, now no visible display?

  A week ago, my XPS 8500 just stopped turning. The power button is Orange fixed, which is a problem I've met about 3 months ago. At this point, I ran across a lot of troubleshooting here, replaced the original motherboard, PSU and HDD. I finally got the system running and upward and he ran for 3 months until light solid amber shown once again at the top.

  I assumed it was the motherboard once again, and I have fortunately my 90th day of a warranty of 90 days, so was a replacement motherboard sent to me. I just installed the new motherboard, the amber light has disappeared, I have a white power lights up once more, then I guess it's good news, but I get nothing on my screen.

  I have read some other posts and contracted / reset CMOS battery and also reinstalled everything on the Board with no luck. I was hoping someone could suggest other ideas?
