XPS 14 cannot adjust the brightness

Hi all

I have 10 windows and I can't adjust the brightness with the latest video drivers (Dell and Intel\Nvidia also).

Can you help me with this problem?

I found another thread on this issue which solved my problem. 'en.community.dell.com/.../19526400'.

I have Intel UMA graphics card and had to update a record.

I needed to change only the first line in the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\ {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} \0000] "FeatureTestControl" = dword:0000ffff

Here's a good page to Microsoft on how to change your registry file. Be sure to follow the steps to back up your registry first.

'support.microsoft.com/.../310516'.

  • Cannot adjust the brightness after display driver update on Satellite L855-118

    Hello.

I just bought a SATELLITE L855-118, with ATI graphics card today, it was between this and another of them, but I know that you have problems updating graphics drivers on a portable Sony.

    I did a restore point.

So I uninstalled the ATI catalyst graphics card and then did a sweeper driver and rebooted and then installed catalyst 12.6, installed fine, but my screen went to the maximum brightness and I can't adjust, BRIGHTNESS osd is displayed but the brightness of the screen does not change.

So I used my restore point.

This time I crushed the catalyst 8.9 with 12.6 stock, still cannot adjust the brightness.

Someone knows how to solve this problem.

  • XPS 14 L421X cannot adjust the brightness of the screen

    Hello.

My Dell XPS 14 L421X is now a week, and I have another problem with her...

I can't adjust the brightness of the screen.

Everything I use the Fn F4 and F5 keys (indicator appears and move correctly but the screen is always the same) or charm brightness slider, or the settings of the power plan or power settings advanced with percentage, none of these options work. The brightness of my screen does not change.

When I go into the Bios, I can change the brightness using the Fn keys.

I've seen several thread on the same issue but could find a solution to work properly. I've updated my bios (which was A09 to A12) Although in the driver of my service tag page, I could not see the update (I had to choose "Show all the drivers for you product").

I wanted to update the chipset and video card driver, but when I look at the version already installed on the computer, they seems newer and when I tried anyway to update chipset, that it crashed and the computer wanted to restart (blue screen saying that it but stuck at 0%) and I had to stop it manually.

Anyone have a solution for this situation. It looks really not in that there is an incompatibility of drivers, but I couldn't put a finger on it.

My version of the chipset is HM77: 9.3.0.1020

    Intel HD 4000: 9.17.10.2867

    And Nvidia GT630m: 9.18.13.697

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Kind regards.

Miracle. I did something even simpler

    1. Uninstall the intel driver. Check the box to delete the driver files
    2. Reset

  • 15 - r254nu:. Cannot adjust the brightness on Windows 8.1

So I tried different ways to resolve this issue, but again the light cannot be turned on/off. Help, please!

    Hello:

There are two Intel driver links to the choices on your laptop support page.

I explored the folder of the driver of this driver file to support your laptop and driver page, and it is suitable to use driver.

This package provides the driver that allows graphics Intel high definition (HD) in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

    File name: sp69589.exe

The hardware ID for the Intel graphics card in your laptop must be one of these...

    ;=====================================================================
    ;    Windows 8.1 install
    ;=====================================================================
    [IntelGfx.NTamd64.6.3]

    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_220F103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2213103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2210103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2214103C

You should see a device from Intel HD graphics instead of the graphics card base of Microsoft, and unless you can get the graphics driver to install you will not be able to adjust the brightness of the screen.

Is the above driver do not install the Intel graphics card automatically, try to install the driver manually by navigating to the folder of the driver that is created after running the above file.

Confirm that the hardware for the Intel graphics card ID matches one of the above since the driver installation information file that I posted.

To find the ID of the hardware, Device Manager, click the graphics card Microsoft Basic.

Then click on the Details tab in the upper part of the window Microsoft Basic graphics card.

Now you should see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.

On this list and select the 3rd point (Hardware ID).

Confirm that the hardware ID, you see there is one of those listed that I posted.

  • Cannot adjust the brightness after installing Windows 10

Hello. I have a Dell XPS 15 L521X.   Recently updated to Windows 10 and I can adjust is no longer my brightness upwards or downwards.

Now the screen is quite low.  I'd say about 30-40% brightness.  10 widows I found about 5 different places to adjust your brightness and I made sure all of them have been set to 100%.  I have my power plan to high performance and I went into advanced settings and turned off Adaptive brightness and made sure that the brightness of the screen the two Dim brightness set to 100% on battery & are plugged.  Rebooted and still dim.

My question is, on Dell laptops, Windows has full access to the brightness control?  Or Dell replaces Windows with their software customized for the display settings?   When I bought this laptop in 2012, the software, at the time, was called Dell QuickSet.  What is the responsible application of brightness of the screen control?  And is it necessary?

    Thank you

    Mike

I am also having this same problem. My brightness has been set at max after update and it hurts my eyes. I did it... Control Panel > Device Manager > graphics cards > Intel HD Graphics 4000 > pilot > Update Driver > Browse my computer > let me pick. Choose Microsoft Basic graphics card.

After doing this, my problem was solved, and I was able to adjust the brightness of my screen again. BUT if you play games on your laptop, it will cause display problems in your game.

  • Qosmio G30-140 - cannot adjust the brightness of the screen on Windows 7

    Hello

I installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio G30-140, but I can't adjust the brightness settings.
Instead of allowing me to place the cursor on any position, I want that I'm stuck with only 3 steps which elect to.
The last of them is way to bright and my eyes keep tear having to deal with this crazy amount of white, especially on white background.
The other two are very, very dark.
What is going on? I installed the right Nvidia drivers.
Also, I can't adjust the brightness using the FN keys on my keyboard. They simply produce no result at all.

Need help appreciated, I can't work like this.

    Thank you!

    Hello

The brightness of the display can be controlled by the FN + F7 and Fn + F6.
I think you should install the VAP and buttons of the Support of Flash memory card utility in order to get this to work!

Check the added value Package and Support Flash Card which are released for Satellite L500 utility or new models of laptops.
    In my case it worked!

  • Satellite L500 - cannot adjust the brightness of the screen

I have a L500 - came out with Windows 7. I can't also adjust the brightness - the external monitor is fine. 17 other laptops in the same school are fine - just this one.
The FN key doesn't seem to work - the laptop screen is so dark, that it is not readable.

I didn't know all the answers that respond to that?

    Hi redmg,

The FN keys are controlled by value added and Flash Cards Support utility package. So if you can use t FN keys correctly reinstall these two tools of Toshiba. You can download on the official page of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But remove older versions before installing the new versions.

After that all FN keys should work properly again.

  • X 1 yoga: cannot adjust the brightness

I can't adjust the brightness on my Thinkpad X 1 of Yoga. I ran all the updates driver, lenovo used and everything is up-to-date, including the BIOS. No matter what I do the brightness will either increase or decrease.

It is stuck on its maximum intensity, so is not too bad, and I would be reluctant to send in for repair and lose a week or work to get it fixed. Anyone can suggest that might help the wise software?

    Thank you!

Moderator Note: added the object model for better visibility.

In response to the customer reports that the brightness of the screen can be controlled via a key entry on X 1 Yoga ThinkPad, Lenovo has released a fix. The patch is a registry change to restore this function.

The patch can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118463

A permanent fix will be delivered with the Intel driver in a future release.

  • Tab 2 A8-50 cannot adjust the brightness

I just got my tab 2 A9-50 yesterday. I ran the update as soon as I started my Tablet for the first time. Software version: 150619-50F-A8. I had an Android tablet, so I know how to adjust the brightness. However, this tablet, brightness is stuck in automatic mode. I can move the cursor of HRT, but it now has the effect.

    Looks like something is overridingthe.

Not the end of the world, I guess, but I would like when I need it.

It looks like the soft Twilight. After setting the brightness in this app a bit, screen dimming controls in the rest of Android has started working. I used this app on other devices, but I never noticed this happening before.

    Problem solved I guess.

You have installed updates? I mean all this can happen without reason?

Have you tried to roll back the OS to an earlier time to check the functionality?
And Yes, do you use the original pre-installed OS that you got with your laptop?
