XW8600 drive carrier

Hi all.

I have a XW8600 running X 5440 two and 6 GB of ram.  I want to transform this system into a home media NAS FreeNas or Open Media Vault Server runing and have a few questions.

First of all, I read in a few places, this system can't handle 6 Gb/s SATA drives on its 3 Gbp/s ports.  I updated the firmware of the card bios to the latest version, and currently have a RED of WD 2 TB drive connected to one of the ports SATA and its market very well.  Windows Vista has been on that to test for a week, and Open Media Vault is currently on and running for testing before jumping into the first project manager.  Are these compatible ddriver 6Gbp/s at the moment?  The problem of firmware of the player is resovled have are new readers?  I read here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02711513&lang=en&cc=us&taskI... HP worked with HDD vendors, so that all 6Gbps SATA hard disks provided by HP works on the ports/3 Gb/s and 1.5 Gbit/s.  Have other vendors such as Western Digital included these patches in their own firmware as well?  I intend on adding 4 or 5 more altogether, and before I drop money on them I would like to assure you that I will not face questions.

My second question is - can I run SATA drives in SAS ports as well?  I know that SAS is back accounting with SATA, but I wonder if mixing SATA drives in SATA and SATA in the SAS ports ports will cause problems.  I plan on the creation of two virtual drives in software RAID 5 - one for SATA and a separate VD for ports SAS ports.  It will be a problem?

Well, I want to just update everything in the future find this thread and have a similar question.  I've been running the three red WD 2 TB drives in RAID 5 (software) now for three weeks using FreeNAS.  The system has not had any problems, SMART without errors or warnings and has a little less than 1 TB of data spread across the disks.  I'll tell you that, it's a victory for me.

    Hello

I am looking for the part number of the hard drive carrier to the c20. I was looking at the part of the c30 (03W5463) number of lenovo and only found support page.

They share the same part number?

    Thank you.

The C30 hdd carrier should work ok in the C20 as the C20 and C30 share the same mechanical chassis design.

  • Portege M750 - 2nd HARD drive in the Bay select instead of optical drive carrier

I just bought I used Portege M750 because my M700 was broken. Unfortunately, the berries to choose between the two models are not compatible. Although the availability of a 2nd drive hard trolley is mentioned in the user manual, I couldn't find the part of the disk for the M750 caddy. I tried a standard SATA-SATA HARD drive caddy, but I get a message "select Bay error" at the start, although the caddy runs under windows, as long as you do not hibernate.

Does anyone know the part no of the real 2nd hard drive for Portege M750 caddy / M780? Or is there another 2nd carriage of hard drive that works with the M750 without restriction?

    Hello

I guess that you will need a hard drive caddy part number: P000452980
Then you could place this in the Toshiba Ultra Slim PA3408U-2CTE and PA3408U-1ETC HARD disk adapter

But you can also contact the Toshiba ASP in your country to get a confirmation...

  • Satellite A300-1EG - hard drive carrier

    Hello.

    I have this laptop--> http://www.toshiba.eu/discontinued-products/satellite-a300-1eg/

I would buy the new hard drive, specifically this one--> http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/937740-REG/seagate_st1000lm014_hybrid_1tb_2_5_sata.html

My question is, will it work? Laptop is old enough, I don't know if it supports this capability and/or additional 8 GB SSD.

Satellite A300 is old but very good machine. I got it a few years ago. In general there is no list some specific with all hard drives supported and compatibility information can give you just someone who has the same machine and use it with an identical hard drive.

In my opinion, you can upgrade your machine with this drive and I'm pretty sure that in combination with Windows 7 it works perfectly.

I don't know what is most important to you: spatial ability or portable s performance, but if your laptop supports the option with two hard drives, I recommend to buy SSD and use it as a hard drive main and old original HD, you can use it as a second drive (if possible) and, of course, for the storage of data only.

I have this hardware configuration on my Satellite P500.

  • Need info on Satellite 2800 HARD drive carrier

    Hello!

What HARD drive max can I use in Satellite 2800-200
    Thank you.

    Hello

the biggest model in the 2800 series was delivered with a 30 GB HARD drive. But I think you can try a 40 or 60 GB HARD drive.
The bad news is that I can not promise you, since the machine is a pentium platform 3 and I Don t really know what size they discs can be...

The safest way is to buy an external USB HARD drive and just put the data on it, but that's just my opinion... ;)

  • Cd/dvd USB for DOS drive carrier

I try to install my old copy of win 98SE (that I still hang out) on my eeepc 4G but BACK won't recognise DVD USB drive that I use (no IDE/SCSI internal drive). I was able to copy the contents of the CD on an SDHC card and install windows, but after the restart of the installation it says "error disk i/o. If anyone knows how to turn USB CD/DVD media, it would be much appreciated.

P.S. don't bother talking about XP. It takes up most of my 4 GB SDD. That's why I'm with win98SE > 300MB.

  • Qosmio G20-114: what are the features of hard drive?

I just deleted one of my harddrives to my G20 114 so that I can work on my data while my laptop was being repaired.

My plan was to put in a case of hard drve 2.5 "usb. I was also going to use a spare hard drive 100 GB I need to act as a backup of the operating system drive.

However, it seems that the arrangemnt pins on the drive, I removed from my Qosmio is different from what I'm used to and it does not seem to hold in the external box. I guess also for this reason that the spare drive I used to fit into the Qosmio. I guess I must be missing something as this may not be the case here. They use some sort of different player in these machines or have I forgot something obvious?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

AFAIK the Qosmio G20 was delivered with S - ATA drives.
The HARD drive is fixed by 4 screws on the HARD drive carrier.
Did you remove this media from HARD disk?
This is perhaps a question why the HARD drive does not fit into the case.

  • Satellite P500-12D adding 2nd HARD drive

Toshiba UK say it is not possible to install a second drive in a P500-12D.
The reason seems to be that the "bowl" for the second disk drive carrier is not sold.
I was also told that the second drive Bay could not be used "on the model" but the sata connection is there and inserts brass threaded in the case of the scree of the carrier are present.

The Bay is deeper than 1 Bay (for the thicker > 500 GB drives and, therefore, the support unit for the 1st Bay can be used - entire centres are also different.)

    Ideas for a work around?

Sorry for the spelling mistakes - my original message would not be accepted "your message contains profanity or inappropriate language.
In the interest of your fellow forum users, we ask you to change your message.
"but no indication as to where." Maybe it's that the things happening in the threaded inserts are not allowed

    Peter K

    > The reason seems to be that the "bowl" for the second disk drive carrier is not sold.
The reason is that there are different configurations of P500
The P500 and other series of Toshiba laptops are equipped with different motherboards.
Not all motherboards support 2 HARD drive controllers.

This can be a bit confusing for someone buying a laptop and see the second HARD drive Bay, but if you would remove the 2nd HARD drive Bay cover, then you will see that there is no HARD drive connector.
This means that you will not be able to use the second HARD drive.

  • Qosmio F750-121 - recovery drive missing

    Hi all

1 first, I'm a fan of Qosmio, owner of my 2nd unit, a 121-F750 (replacing a G30 - 189-"brick" I named TI-). It has been great so far. Now, I change the SATA for one SSD and I just realized I threw the recovery disc! Does anyone know if I could DL the iso from the Toshiba support site? I have the invoice and series, is not something that the result of a hasty mind, mine...

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello

More information on the recovery disk drive, you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0202TA0000R01.htm
Please note: you can order a recovery disc for EMEA models only.
    > So my mind early cost me $ 35? Is this really a decent brand of media forum? How to I > pay for what I already paid? Congratulations to the genius who planned this!
When you buy a new laptop model, you will not get recovery disk with your laptop. original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. In s manuals you can find detailed instructions on creating recovery discs and advice why is so important backup image recovery.

    Here is the original information:
    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * Your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do so directly from the hard disk (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original, factory-installed state even if your computer is seriously damaged *.

Is there a reason why you didn t create a support of recovery in the past? Please don't get me wrong, you have been informed but you didn t take care about it.
Anyway, Toshiba offers to get it again. Yes you have to pay, but you will get the active OS version again including all necessary drivers, utilities and software tools, additional again.
