Y at - it an upgrade to Outlook Express 6

I have Windows XP Home edition is installed on this computer.  I would like to configure Outlook Express 6 for my e-mail address.  But I would

first find out if there is an update for it.

Thank you

Ron

There is not any update for Outlook Express 6.

There are updates that you can get through your updates.

The spell checking feature only works if you install MS Office.

Some people call Windows Live Mail upgrade, I do not have!

  • Upgrade to Outlook Express and lost my English Dictionary have only French and I don't know how to retrieve or repair.

I have a French dictionary and it isn't for a little help!  I am running Windows XP and I have updated to Outlook Express 6 and I lost my English Dictionary.  I went to options, spelling and dictionary and all what to choose is French.  At the same time I had fixed by someone at Dell. Then my computer had to be "setting back to the default settings" and when I loaded my upgrade he messed up again and I have to pay this time to have someone to help me.  I don't know what exactly I did to install English Dictionary, so it worked properly with Outlook Express.  What they had me has worked flawlessly. I hope that someone with the knowledge they can share with me!  Thanks in advance!

[I did the following (below) and got this error: Documents and settings\rosa\local settings\temporary Internet Files\content.ie5\96J19EGQ\spelloe_setup[1]. exe is not a valid win32 application.  I don't know what it means at all.

It takes you by surprise... one day (you probably noticed it today), the spell check dictionary in Outlook Express changed in French. You know that you has not changed anything in the program then, how this happened? But before I tell you the cause of the problem - you can read below - I'll give you the solution.

As recommended by Microsoft itself, the best way to recover the English Dictionary in Outlook Express in French that you see now, is to use a third party program – a dictionary developed by another company. There are tons of these available, but we expect all first of all for the free options, right?

  • recover email lost in outlook express 6 upgrade

my computer automatically upgraded to outlook express 6 and lost all my emails from the old outlook express. any info on how to retrieve them would be great

It seems that your OE message store can become corrupt and Windows creates a new. McAfee and Norton analysis e-mail used to be the #1 guilty, but no analysis emails can cause these days.

You can be the GROUND if you have never backed up your messages, but we'll see if there is something on your machine, we can come back. Check the following, but do nothing before posting back.

1: check the trash for the bak files. If they are there, note the date of creation.

2: Check if you have more than one identity in OE. File | Identities | Manage identities. Is there more than one, or just the one you have now?

3: select Show files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View. After selecting the button to show hidden files and folders, search, and search for *.dbx

Post back with the results of these three tasks. If you have no chance, your only chance to possibly retrieve messages is with this tool.

You may need to run in the extract from disk Mode if its normal recovery mode fails to find lost messages.

  • Upgrade to Microsoft 2010 and have now lost all my Outlook Express emails!

    Hello

Yesterday, I upgraded my pc from 2007 to 2010 from microsoft, I had no idea that outlook express is no longer taken in charge & a so don't had not saved anything express before the upgrade.

I used two Outlook + outlook express to run 2 separate email accounts.  How Outlook works well and moved all my old mails/contacts.  Express however is not found, I can't open it.

I have installation the other account on the new perspectives, he transferred the emails from the last 30 days, which lie on the mail server, but nothing beyond that, plus all of my files are missing & what is the most important!

Please help me, I got hundreds of emails that are very important to me and I am in despair that they have all been lost.

    Thank you, Emma

If you use Windows XP (which I assume you're OE does not work on any latest system) then by installing Office does NOT remove Outlook Express.

He can't because Outlook Express is part of Internet Explorer, which is part of Windows.

I think that Outlook has replced just the icon of EO for mail.

    Do a search for msimn.exe

You should find it in c:\program files\outlook express.

Then you can add back a shortcut on your desktop.

  • How to upgrade Outlook Express 6

I use Outlook Express 6 on Windows xp version.  I want to improve. Is it better to do it in stages or should I jump in version 9?  Looks like a lot of problems with 9.

I think you mean Internet Explorer? Version 6 was the last version of OE made.

You don't have to worry about having problems with IE9 because it does not work on XP. (Not sure of the problems you are talking about).  You can go to the right of the IE6 to IE8, just make sure SP3 is installed.

Download IE8 on your desktop. Do not use Windows or Microsoft Updates.

    Download Internet Explorer 8
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Internet-Explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

Restart your computer. With no other programs running, disable your antivirus software and spyware or programs you can have spam. If you run a third of firewall, disable it and enable the Windows Firewall.

Now install IE8 from the office. When finished, restart your computer two times and make sure your disabled programs are back in business.

  • My Outlook Express came with my XP, I upgraded to IE 6 and now I can't reply to all threads in my emails? How should I do?

"" I get e-mails that contain a blue response below the address line, I was able to meet until late November 2011, but now the "blue line" will not use the addresses included in the emails. I continue to get online with Google Crome and IE and receive emails with Outlook express. What can I do?

1 start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults: select (check) the CUSTOM [<>] configuration option, and then click the arrows pointing to the far-right | Browser: select "Internet Explorer" here (to not "use my current... »).

    Illustration: http://teamtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/set-program-access-defaults-02.jpg

If you return to check the out parameter #1 above, it'll be "Use my current..." "but now it's going to be"point"to IE so that you don't need to change anything or reset. [Think of it.]

    2. check your settings here: IE tools | Internet Options | Programs | Default web browser: If the make default button is NOT dimmed, click/press it.

    3. right click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop: http://www.slipstick.com/doit/chromehtml.reg [1]

    3. double-click the file that you saved in # 3 above (i.e. chromehtml.reg) & accept invites him to MERGE with the registry data.

    4. setting of Internet Explorer settings through this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Tip: For best results, check the option Remove personal settings .

    5. restart & test.

  • The upgrade to Windows 7 using Outlook Express for email

I am currently using Windows XP pro, and considering the purchase of a new PC which has Windows 7 installed. I use Outlook Express as my email program. What would be the procedure to "migrate" my address book and outgoing emails from Outlook EXpress in Windows 7.

Thanks for any help - local retailers just say it may be possible, but not sure about the process.

Windows 7 doesn't have a native email client integrated as previous versions of Windows, so you can decide what email client you use first.

  • 7 eliminated Windows Outlook Express & all files and settings. Are they buried somewhere were I can get back in?

Laptop is a Dell Studio 15, about 1 month.
    Upgrade Vista to Windows 7.
Previously, I used Outlook Express and saved some important emails into different folders in Outlook.   I didn't know that outlook Express would be gone.  Message says "e-mail & settings files will remain available after the upgrade".  Loaded a new email program (Mozilla Thunderbird) but can not find some old files of e-mail.

If you use Outlook on a previous version of Windows, and then once you have upgraded to Windows 7 then you should be able to reinstall Outlook and open your previous email information.  For longer instructions with migration check Outlook the

    Office forum.

Outlook 2010 was the last version. You can get any version prior to that as well.

Reset IE as default value even if it already seems that is first, and then restart it.

And if you still have problems, try a new OE identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.
