  Hi all

  I read a lot of resources on this forum about M.2 SSD abot slot and I have a few questions.

  First of all, I want to replace this SSD with a capacity of higer and install the operating system to this ssd without removing the HARD drive. I mention this because someone said to remove the HARD disk to boot from m2 due to the limitations of the BIOS but another says you can fix with the settings. My first question is this possible?

  My second question is if replace SSD HARD drive without removing M.2 SSD will it become a problem later? Due to the older SSD has short life of reading / writing and cache ssd made these operations every time as a primary hard drive and maybe HP used an older technology on the SSD m2.

  And the last question is if I delete complately m2 SSD can I boot from 2.5 HARD drive with no problems?

  Yes, you have a hybrid drive. The 8 GB NAND is built into the hard drive. I do not believe that your model with the screen 15-inch has a slot m2, only versions of 17 inches. So if you want an SSD there should be only a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

  As you can see from the image below, I am after a compatible disc SSD m2 (ideally 256Go). I selected in red the single 'hole' in the connector as the largest part of the SSD M2 card I see online have two "holes".

  Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

If you are an experienced technician and just lucky to have a disk of 2280 m2 WSSD sitting around, it might be an interesting exercise, but I wouldn't have someone to invest in such propulsion for this laptop model right now. Your best bet is a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

  I understand that you want to know if your computer supports a SSD m2. When I checked the HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC and Maintenance of PC portable HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 and Service of Guide , it has no mention of an SSD of m2. Please note page 5, SSDS.

  Hi all

  I have a 8570w EliteBook using default HHD and bought 500 GB SSD value in one of two existing readers. I recently bought a second SSD to the second location available, but I can't seem to have it working (I place the SSD in the slot and all fine adjustments, but the system does not recognize).

  Things, I've tried so far without success:

  -Diskpart, miniTool Partition Wizard of Samsung

  -Exchange the old SSD with a new one. New starts working while old stops working (which to me points out to a housing problem)

  -Pic attached, with the (green) SSD slot and no working crack (red) - regardless if I change the SSD

  is - it does not not by design? Is there a place where I have to put me on? Is there something we can do about it?

  Sorry, I have to say: this slot (red) is for the WWAN card, not for a second SSD and no way you can install it on the SSD on it because not all PCIe slots are the same.

  I recently bought the HP Envy 15 t-as000 of store.hp.com and configured for a 1 to HARD drive as I have seen that this laptop has a HDD only / SSD only / combo HARD drive + choice.

  Now, when I opened the laptop, I find that the SSD m2 slot is actually missing! What is going on? I recently bought a Dell computer and I had no difficulty to modernize.

  You have 2 options

  (a) simple storage: HARD drive or SSD

  (b) double storage: SSD and HDD

  And you chose 1 TB HARD drive that is only storage with disk only. It's your choice. You did not M.2 SSD slot.

  shows only a reader of standard style. No indication for a slot with SSD compatible m.2.

• SSD has added to the system (y500) without one, and now it shows not SSD & HDD

  So I bought the model without any SSD because I knew that I would like to upgrade, and I did exactly that.

  I installed the SSD slot msata and when I removed the HARD drive I managed to install windows 7 on SSD and it worked perfectly. So I stop to replace the hard drive, and when I start with both installed, it starts only from the HARD drive. I checked the BIOS and it only shows 1 or the other, but never both. If the HARD disk is installed, it only shows the HARD and never the SSD drive.

  I don't mind having to remove the HARD drive and use only the SSD for a boot device, but I feel I'm missing something simple as to why it does not detect the two.

  So it was a setting I missed, I changed the boot of EUFI (or what ever Windows 8 uses) but missed the option next, changed inheritance (I think) and he sees the devices and the boots of the SSD.
