Y580 with Win 8 Wireless keeps itself turning off during sleep - new edition.

I have a newer Y580 with Windows 8.

I've had this computer for months and the wireless worked perfectly well. I did no new changes and updates that I can remember recently have run.

Whenever I close the lid on my laptop, the wireless connection will turn off. Windows displays the airplane mode is DISABLED and it shows no networks available in the section 'Wi - Fi '.

Wifi works only after disablng of the wireless device, the reactivation of the device and then clicking on "Diagnose" from the popup menu of the device.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi jaharris,

> Right click on the "WiFi" icon and select "Properties".
> Click on the button "configure."
> Select the tab "power management."
> Uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
> Click OK

Hope this helps and do post back with your results.

    Hello

Could be linked to the heat, make sure that the computer has adequate ventilation, maybe use a small fan to

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

  • Satellite A660-17 t - wireless capability is turned off

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I bought my laptop in February last as something "Toshiba reconditioned. The problem is that often when I use the laptop I suddenly lose the internet connection and troubleshooting knowledge than the 'wireless capability is turned off"even if I don't touch or whatever it is pressed. This happens randomly and not all the time I use the machine.

There is a wireless switch between the keyboard and screen, but which has no effect. The function keys don't seem to work as far as I can tell.

If I restart the laptop wireless then works fine? It can sometimes go for days without problem, or it can play up to continually?

I'm puzzled as to why he does on its own and why it is so random. I called the service desk and the guy got me to uninstall and then reinstall something in Device Manager, but it did not help. It was for me to 'restore' the machine to factory settings, but I am not convinced that this will help me?

I'm not a geek - then someone can you please advise if there is a setting or something I should use to prevent this.

The operating system is Windows 7 and my anti virus is AVG if that helps. It is not my router as other devices work fine.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    > There is a wireless switch between the keyboard and screen, but which has no effect. The function keys don't seem to work as far as I can tell.

As much as I know there not additional switch to activate the Wlan. You can enable or disable the WiFi network using the FN + F8 key combination.
    Have you tried that?

In your case I would recommend updating the driver WLan.
In many cases, updates to improve the performance of WLan and could help you solve this problem
Of my knowledge, the laptop was equipped with a Wlan Intel card.
Thus, you should use the driver Intel Wlan from here:

This behavior does not seem normal.  7 Slate do you have?

If it were my camera, I erase it with a Factory Reset and start over.  If the behavior appears immediately, then I would call HP for warranty repair.

  • Equium A100-549 itself turns off

There is a lot of dust in the vents, etc., so it's probably what is wrong.

    Definitely Yes!

Compressed air jet is a professional tool to clean the laptop cooling modules.
You can buy these sprays of most computer resellers!

I would not recommend you to disassemble the laptop to clean the fans. First it is very complicated and risky.
During this disassembly procedure, some parts may be damaged.

The jet of compressed air is safer and you can clean a lot faster

I bought the new laptop and has worked well for me the last couple days. Clicked on another page and says unable to connect to the Internet. Resolve to see what the problem is and says 'wireless capability is turned off. Tells me to find keys function or button wifi, but as far as I know I am not one of them. Overheating is probably possible.  Check that the fan is working OK.  Also, make sure that the vents are not blocked. If they are blocked by the accumulation of dust, buy a can of compressed air in a computer store to blow off the dust, etc.

In addition, make sure that the cards any plugin (video cards, etc.) are securely fixed in their media.
