Yoga 2 pro - lack of default boot device or startup failed. Insert the recovery media and press a key.

Hello

I have a Yoga pro 2.

I recently formatted my drive and got rid of all partitions. The reinstalled windows 8.

Everything worked well until I went into the bios and changed the legacy boot uefi support.

I get this is now pop up when I boot.

By default, lack of start-up or start-up device failed. Insert the recovery media and press a key. Then select "Boot Manager" to select a new device boot or boot recovery media.

I have no support from reccovery.

I tried to restart the mchine pressing F2, but I still get the same screen.

If I press on enter I then move the pop up to the Boot Manager when the list is empty, so I can't start any other readers because there is not to choose.

I don't know what else to do...

Help, please.

  • Acer aspire s7-392-9439: lack of default boot device or startup failed.

    Hello
I bought an Acer aspire s7-392-9439 3 months ago. It has been working fine, until yesterday.
I turn on the computer and it poped a blue screen with the error: 'lack of default boot device or startup failed'.
This error reminded me that a message on a bios updated poped over a few days and I have the chance to install it.

I contacted acer support, I was told that the update of the bios would have avoided this problem. Also, they told me to try things that can help, but unfortunately none of them has:
1 restore the default bios settings.
    2. change the bios settings: uefi to legacy.
3 type the Windows key + c when the computer starts.

When these options do not have they said it is probably a hardware problem and I should send my computer to their repair center.
    My questions are:
    1. If they updated bios would have prevented the problem, how can it be a hardware problem?
2 - does anyone know how to solve the problem?

    I would appreciate your help,
    Michael

I had the same problem.  Tried the diskette of starting BACK and did not work.

    Here's how I solved it:

(apologies to memory are some terms is not on-site)

    1. download the Setup file of the BIOS - link provided above in this thread (isST2212.exe)

    2. on a Windows 8 machine that works - search for 'Create a recovery disk' and run on a USB drive

    3. copy the file #1 to the USB drive once it's done make a recovery disk

    4. in the Acer BIOS (press F2 during startup), change to the method of priming of the legacy

    5 save and exit

    6. turn in the BIOS and move the option USB HDD as first boot device

    7. Save and exit

    8. you will end up in a Windows 8 recovery console

    9. go to Advanced Options - find the option that leads you to the command prompt

    10. from there I went to d: drive and found my file isST2212.exe - run by typing the file name when you are in the folder

Make sure that you are connected to power - let it run.  It should install, automatic restart and you should be in business.

I had an Acer offer to fix it for free with a 7-10 day turn around and at the risk of losing all my data.  It's a much better solution!

  • no boot device found message after that finishing recovery disks and restart...

I recently bought a new Wester Digital hard drive my laptop HP provided with is death/failed, but now I have no found boot device / error message even after complete installation floppies and disk 4 is ejected.  He did the whole insert the disc 1, 2, 3 and 4, and he went to 100%, then said to remove recovery media and press on continue, so that he can restart and complete the process, but it just reboots the computer, gets the no boot message device and stays there.  There's too much during the night and still the same message.  After disc 4 finished what she also said not to touch anything or do something, so I did everything, he said to do.  The hard drive is new, as I said, and is the same 500 GB which was the one I replaced.  The recovery disc were not created by me, they came with my laptop when I bought from futureshop in late October 2010.  It is out of warranty too, that's why I'm looking for a solution...

    Any help would be welcome...

I did something else I looked and everything got up and running, so it's all good now.

Home premium Windows Vista, 64-bit operating system

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    ____________________________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    __________________________________________________________

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Aspire M5 'Default boot device lack or failed to start.

Hello and thanks in advance for ANY help you can offer. I have an Aspire M5 that suddenly no longer starts and gives the message "Default boot device boot failure or lack" and claims recovery media to be inserted. I usb recovery media and have also signed up with cloud of Acer. With my recovery media, I tried to refresh and to my PC nothing will do. When I try a system restore is gives me an error and says "you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart, select the operating system and then select the system restore". Unfortunately there is no operating system to select when I restart. I am very worried about losing the data on my hard drive, it is more precious than the drive itself. Now I'm checking if somehow my files are backed up on Acer Cloud - is there a way to do this? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated thanks!

    Not good.

I suspect a failure of HARD drive, the only way to check is to remove your laptop and connect it to another PC with a external HARD drive Bay.

I am trying to install Windows 7 via USB, (El Capitan, Macbook Pro - early 2011), but this mistake "No. BOOTABLE DEVICE - INSERT BOOT DISK AND press ANY KEY ' when bootcamp restart my macbook to begin the installation. Any ideas?

You cannot use a USB on Mac 2011 Installer. Please burn the ISO on a physical DVD Windows (a DVD - R Carbon SL on the rate of burning slower is better) and use it to install Windows. The file Info.plist changes only allowing the creation of USB, but does not fully support a USB Installation.

    Hi Ryan,

Please contact Microsoft Community. I will surely help you this question.

To better understand the issue, let me know if you have tried pressing the F12 key or the key that is used to start the BIOS on the computer?

    Method 1:

You may need to press the key (which is used to start-up the BIOS) as soon as you turn on your computer before Windows starts. See the article for more information.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7095ca: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

Thanks for your help and please excuse my bad English.
Please check item 7, if you're in a hurry. This is the point with my Pavilion DV6 - 7095-CA:

    (1) the operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), the provided original with my 7095CA Pavilion, more updates HP until 2013, and all Windows updates until July 2015.

    (2) now I can't access the operating system and I have no interface UEFI. I can see that I press F2 at startup, just a test simple disk in BIOS f.0Une (the test shows that the disc is OK)

    (3) return in 2013 it took a drive failure. I did replace the disk and reinstall original Win7, all updates, including the HPS, win7 updates and all my personal software.

    (4) at this time, I bought a spare hard drive and did a complete copy of the disc using Partition Wizard bootable cd. The second disc has been tested and worked perfectly, with all of my personal software on this subject.

So I have 2 HDs identical with the same system on both drives, fully working and tested.

    (5) a few days ago I came across the HP website and made a few updates, including the BIOS f.0Une (the last BIOS update, was of course).

    (6) after BIOS update ran, I received the message "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".

    (7) I couldn't solve the problem, so I did remove the hard drive and install my backup drive, which lay in a dry place without danger from 2013.

    (8) I turned on the computer and got the same message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", and I couldn't find any way to solve this problem.

Now I'm doing a new installation on a third HD everything works very well, so far, in the new facility and I will never buy HP again.

  • G72 Pavilion. : no boot device. Insert the disk and press any key

My hard drive died recently. I installed a new. Now I'm gettig no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key. What should I do to fix this?

    Hello

If you find your recovery DVD, you can use them to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not, you can order a replacement set by starting at the link below-, the cost can vary a bit depending on where you live, but they are generally inexpensive.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, try to order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    Kind regards

  • I screwed up trying to install windows on my computer 10 and I XE off installer and now its says "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".

I was just trying to download 10 on my computer windows using boot camp assistant. I answered the questions for windows when you need to respond as what kind of language you use and then I messed up on one of the questions. I didn't know how to go back so I just pressed the red x. When I did that he must get off my computer and when it's done I got a black screen and then it says "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key" I don't know what he meant by no bootable disk and I was hoping that you guys can help me fix.

If stop you your Mac and your power it back up and hold down the Alt/Option key, you see a Windows selection? If so try to select and see if the installation will continue.

  • No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

    Hello

I was with boot camp to install 10 Windows from a usb key. The first problem I encountered was an error message stating that Windows supports software could not be downloaded on my flash drive. I read that the necessary drivers could be installed later so I unchecked the box. The part of the installation, then training camp as it should (create a partition etc.)

However, when the Mac went to restart and (probably) to start the program installation of Windows, the error message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key" displayed. My problem is the wireless keyboard does not respond and the light on this issue seems to suggest that it is not connected. My guess is that the drivers needed, such as Bluetooth are not there.

I'd be happy enough to restart OS x and forget all about Windows, but I can't see how to get around this problem?

    A wired keyboard could work?

    any help is appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

    Max.

A wired keyboard and mouse will work. If you try to install Windows and tried to download the Windows software on a wireless network, try a wired connection. to rebuild your USB Installer.

    Hello

Have you tried to reinstall the hard drive if yes. Then the drive is bad & who has need of a replacement.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.
