Yoga 2 Windows 8.1 - cannot use the external DVD burner

I bought a burner DVD LITEON plug-and-play. Nothing happens when I connect it to Yoga. It works very well on a laptop ASUS there must be something about Yoga.

About Yoga, it turns on but does not appear on drives.

If I look in the settings it appears on OTHER DEVICES like

MASS STORAGE DEVICE - driver error

I know that there is nothing wrong with LITEON

The USB ports work fine on YOGA

Thank you

Richard

The power is fine the player works on the other PC. We tried other readers on this PC and still does not work.
I'm no expert, but my IT dept at work tried to explain that the driver is corrupted but part of the operating system. Not possible to update or reinstall.
I called John Lewis. Immediately, they says no problem. We will swap it for a new.
Can't beat JL Customer Service.

  • I'll be able to use the external dvd drive on microsoft surface?

I like really the surface so far and I was wondering if I'll be able to use an external dvd drive on the surface because there only 1 usb port.

    Yes.

You can attach an external USB hub or port replicator and connect USB devices to one. And, if connected to the network, you can use the DVD player on any other computer network with any active permissinns and sharing.

    Hi storm36,

You must have the Windows XP disk to repair Windows. As the CD/DVD drive is not getting detected, we recommend you try the following steps and check the result.

Step 1: Check if the device is detected in the BIOS (basic input/output device)
    a. start your computer and press on delete key continuously to see the BIOS.
    b. check if the CD/DVD device is detected.
    c. If this isn't the case, then unplug the unit and he reconnected inside the CPU/Tower.
    d. check the result.

Step 2: If the device is detected in the BIOS, try the following steps:
    a. start your computer and boot to the desktop.
    b. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    c. select my computer, click the Action menu and click scan for hardware changes.
    d. check if the CD/DVD device is listed in the list.

Step 3: If the problem persists, restore the computer
see How to restore Windows XP to a previous state .
    b. Once you have restored the computer, check if the CD/DVD drive is visible.

  • HP Pavilion Windows 8.1 cannot use the TrackPad and keyboard at the same time

So when I play games on my laptop or just go on the internet I can't hold down a key on my keyboard and move the mouse at the same time, it just does not take into account my trackpad and continues to do what the action on my keyboard.

An example is so when I play one of my favorite games and the letter on the keyboard, 'A', is reached. I also spend my head of characters to get the lens during the attack. So I spend my TrackPad to aim my head during the attack. The recoil of the gun made my gun just start to reach the sky that its supposed to. But I want to move my head to redirect during filming. Does anyone know how to solve this problem.

To guide you, could you please tell me the number of model or product from your computer and the operating system that runs on it. Here are a few guides for How can I find my model number or product number? and Windows operating system am I running?

I suggest that you try to restore the original drivers for the TouchPad see if solves the problem. I am also including this document to use and configure the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista) in the hope that it will help.

I have also some steps that may work:

    1. click on the Synaptics icon in the system tray.

    2. Select properties of the pointing device.

    3. Select the device settings tab.

    4. Select the Synaptics LuxPad.

  • Windows Media Center cannot detect the error DVD Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive

Original title: why Windows Media Center does not detect my DVD?

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

    Hello

I have Satellite A300 and my DVD drive is not seen by Windows 7.

I do not see in the Device Manager, and when I use the updates provided by TEMPRO, and on the site, it just won't update.
When I opened the Toshiba Disc Creator, it gives me an error saying that it does not have any drive connected.

    See you soon.

    Hello

You should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the Windows registry. So just follow this work around:

  • Satellite A660 - cannot install Win 7 using the external DVD drive

    Hello!

Not so long I asked help to reinstall win 7 on my laptop.
The only option was actually in the restoration of order dvd what I did. Today, it has arrived.

Problem is, or was that some of the CD or the DVD couldn't be read for some reason any.

Now it won't boot from the cd, it says faulty hard drives.

So what I did I have pluged my detached external DVD drive and it started from that.

But just after a few seconds, she told me to '1 support recovery' and open the drive in the laptop. Tried to insert the disc - nothing, like its not inserted, tried to disable computers portable cd - nothing please help

    Hello

You should first check if the external CD/DVD drive is recognized as a boot device.
Connect the external USB CD/DVD drive and switch on the device.
    Press F12.

Now, you will see all bootable devices. Generally, the CD/DVD USB drive should appear if his support. If it does not appear, you will not be able to boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive.

In this case I recommend you to create a bootable USB flash memory and install Windows 7 from USB flash memory

  • Portege 3490CT - I can't install XP using the USB dvd burner

    Hello

I can't install Windows XP Home edition. I have USB-DVD writer and also an external recorder Toshiba on PCMCIA (CPI 5025a Toshiba) but he couldn t find any external recorder.

I remove the HARD drive and format the extern in 2 parts.
I first install BACK and copy the files of Windows XP Home edition on the second part, but I could also install it because of the conflict of the FAT and NTFS t. In the BIOS, I chose cardbus-16 bit. My CD burner works (tested before).

Please help to install Windows on my laptop.

You cannot install Windows XP directly because there is no driver for the external optical drive to build.

Mainly, you're on the right track.
Format the HARD drive, make two partitions the two FAT32.
Copy the folder I386 from your CD to install XP on the second partition.
    Start the installation calling winnt.exe.
Install XP on the partition of frist.
After the installation is complete, you can use the XP "convert.exe" command to change FAT32 to NTFS partitions. Run "convert.exe /?' in a DOS window to get the correct settings."

It is possible, but you need an extended drive Toshiba compatible and taken in charge.

  • Windows XP Pro - cannot use the logon Welcome screen

I use Windows XP Professional 2002 service pack 3. I am unable to access the logs on the Welcome screen / fast user switching.  When I go to Contol Panel under USERS the opportunity to "change the way users log on" does not appear, nor can I change my photos to logon. Help, please

Looks like your XP Pro machine is a member of a domain.  When connected to a domain, none of these features are available.  See the following topics:

  • Code 19: Cannot use the CD/DVD players

No apparent reason, my system has posted a Code 19 error on my CD/DVD drives. I'm pretty sure that both are in working condition (they will still open and close), and I see no changes recently that could have stopped their work or being recognized.

I have re-installed both used Microsoft all troubleshooting/fixing programs, and experienced Windows loaded with last good configuration, nothing not done - readers won't are always displayed in my computer, or recognized. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Looking very good for me. If the outcomes are unwanted, you delete it.

The folder that you play with is your CD/DVD drive, that it should not affect your computer if all does not.

    Go ahead and try it.

  • Z500 windows touch 8 - cannot remove the CD/DVD drive

I'm pulling the reader of CD/DVD the Z500, but even if I removed the screws now in place (and Yes, I mean ALL) does not move. I need to remove the disk to access the motherboard to replace my fan and he will just walk out. What is the problem? I'd appreciate any help or advice.

First make sure that there is no disc in the dvd/cd drive. Then remove the single screw shown in step 2 in the image. To remove the drive, you can either push with a screwdriver as shown in step 2 (if iti is you push hard with the screwdriver and help pulling the device at the same time) or you can gently pull the optical unit, as shown in step 3.

  • Error: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player can not support the Codec that was used to compress the file, MP3 downloads will not play

Original title: MP3 downloads don't play no not on WMP

My Windows Media Player recently stopped playing downloads from Amazon. I've never had this problem before. I installed VLC Player, has not worked... off the WMP in the Windows app, restarted, turned on the back and restarted... did not help. I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player may not support the Codec used to compress the file. This is for multiple downloads, so I don't think they would be all corrupted files.

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.
