You are prompted to save the file when opening it

Here is a new... I am trying to open a file and adobe asks me to save changes... when it is not still open!

File does not open, and it is now corrupted.

After searching solution... found this in the forum and now it allows me to open the file without saving it quickly... and I can see all the slides.

Finally, I found that my user settings file was corrupted. I was able to overcome by following these steps.

NOTE: You will lose your preferences - so make a note of them before to do. In addition, you will need to make sure you can see hidden files.

1. close all instances of Captivate.
2. check in the Task Manager to make sure that no Captivate.exe process is still running.
3. navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Macromedia\Captivate
4. rename the captivate_v10.dat in captivate_v10.dat.old
5 restart Captivate (this will create a new dat file)

  • Why Lightroom will not save the file when you use the image Capture?

    When you work with video in Lightroom 5, whenever I press "Image Capture", I get an error message that says: "cannot save the file." I tried this on several video files, and I get the same message. Video files are. MOV files. I can't understand why this is happening!

    I had this same error message. I solved it when I moved the video file on the hard disk internal to the computer, and then it worked perfectly. • Solution: How can I disable IE9 asking if I want to save the file when I click on a video link?

    It happened once before, but I don't remember the solution.

    A few days ago started IE9 conventional if I want to save a file when I click on a video link.  I want to happen is for Windows Media Player to view the video.  I don't want to save on my computer, and if I did, I know how to right click and choose Save target as...

    It is very frustarting as Windows hides these obvious options without giving you a way easty to change.  I don't know what has caused the change at first.

    Solution: Although WMP is already set as default program for all its supported video format, I had to go to set your default programs and select explicitly.

    Looks like the info bar itself would have the option available.

  • Lost emails after you are prompted to compact the account to save space

    original title: Aargh! Lost emails!

    I hope this is the right forum - cannot find a specific to Outlook Express, my mail server.
    I was asked recently to compact my emails, to save space and did.
    Apparently, I did not notice a check mark which allowed the removal of the most recent messages.
    Now, I've lost all those received & sent during the last 3 months. The before and after April-May are always accessible.
    So, how can I put on the recovery of the missing 3 months?
    Jump44

    1. Surprise! This is the right forum.
    2. Outlook Express is an e-mail client. Your e-mail server is where OE downloads the message of.
    3. There is no checkbox that allows the removal of e-mail.

    Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

    Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:
    http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

    Recovery methods:

    If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

    To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

    Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

    In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

    Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

    Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

    First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

    If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

    If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

    If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

    A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

    Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

    Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • You are prompted to install the security update even if the update is already installed

    I use a laptop which has downgraded from Vista Home to Windowx XP Pro w / SP2 (although maybe it's not relevant). Issues installing security updates through Windows Update before today have never known. I am prompted to install the update from a security XP KB956744, what I have done. I installed it through Windows Update and automatic command prompt directly. I even posted the update as something to ignore, but I am always prompted to install it. I also tried to uninstall the version on my machine, and then reinstall the update, but I am always prompted to install it.

    Two questions:
    1. because I received a prompt saying that it has been successfully installed and it appears in Add/Remove Programs, I can safely assume that it has been installed successfully even if I continue to prompt to install it?
    2. If my previous question is true, how can I window update to ignore this update even if I have already reported as such by the normal means?

    Thank you.

    hey im trying to write and read from a file, but I don't know what I'm doig wrong please help

    This is the handwriting

       FILE* f= fopen( "data/t.txt", "w" );
                        if(f==NULL){

                             fprintf(f,"%s",str);
                                   fprintf(f,"%i",num);

    and read

    h= fopen( "data/t.txt", "r+" );
        if(h==NULL){
            h=fopen("data/t.txt","a");
                    if(h==NULL){
                                             fprintf(stderr,"Cannot open t.txt in r+\n");
                                             exit(1);
                                           }
        }
                    else while( fread( &r.name, sizeof( r.name ), 1, h  )!=0){

               fscanf( h,"%s",&str  );

    Of course, I was wrong about the deletion of data-------.

    This code works perfectly fine - just tested:

       char str[] = "test";
        int num = 1;
        FILE* f= fopen( "data/t.txt", "w" );
        if(f==NULL){
            fprintf(stderr,"Cannot create output.txt\n");
            exit(1);
        }
        fprintf(f,"%s",str);
        fprintf(f,"%i",num);
        fclose(f);

  • Qosmio F20-136: scanned TV guide channel - save the file so you can recharge?

    I have a Qosmio F20 - 136 running XP Media Center. My question is does anyone know the name of the file that has the channels scanned so that if I do a re scan and don't get all channels from the list, because of my reception antenna I can re - load the file on the system with a complete list?

    What happens, if I make a new analysis of the channels of television at home I don't get that nearly 20 tv channels, but if I take the laptop to work, where I guess it's a better reception from the transmitter, I travel 35 channels found. I would like to save the file when its 35 channels scanned and have the opportunity to replace it in the directory, if I do a re scan at home.

    Thank you.

    Hello Mike

    Your validation list is very impressive and you should be an expert Qosmio. ;)
    I have F20 too and I also noticed that I can't watch all the channels available on cable TELEVISION here at home.

    Have you already found something interesting about it?

  • VI connects to the file but empty the file when collapsed

    I have a VI that creates colum headdings and then updates the rows with data every second, if I open the file during the execution VI all my data is there but if I stop the VI then open the file only my headdings colum are there.

    I guess that is not complete or save the file when the program stops, but I can not understand.

    Any ideas - I've attached a photo...

    I wish I had known you were using this as a Subvi because now your problem is logical. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of LabVIEW and data flow. Because you used controls and not the references, in the Subvi controls are updated only when your main VI calls this Subvi. The values remain the same until the Subvi is stopped and recalled by hand.

    It would be better to have your Subvi simply writing data - no loop or anything else. The second 1 loop in your hand as a single instance of the creation of the header.

  • the old version would save the tabs when closing, how can I get the new version to do the same thing?

    the previous version would ask something like "save the file" when I would close firefox. as I use different tabs, it is a very useful feature for me. I want to get this same functionality on the new version, if I want to know how to go back to the old version.

    Thank you

    Firefox stores now always the old session, and you can access it by going to the history menu and selecting "restore previous Session."

    If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
    4. Repeat this for 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, the browser.warnOnRestart and the browser.showQuitWarning

    If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:

    1. Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

    Hi Mike227,

    I couldn't find a way to immediately make the bat. I guess you need to mess with ActiveX to do. I found an msdn page that could help with this.

    Have you considered simply concatenating the name of the file and the time stamp with a path of the file and save the file when you create it, without inviting the user?
