1. are you able to boo on the desktop?

2. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

I suggest you remove all external devices except the keyboard and mouse and check if it helps.

    You can try the steps below, remove the updates by using the DISM tool and follow the steps below:

    1. start under System Recovery Options , and then select command prompt.

    2 from the command prompt, run the following command: Dism/Online/Get-Packages

    3. This will produce a list of updates installed and packets.  They will look like this:

    4. package identity: WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-opLevel ~ 31bf3856ad364e35 ~ x 86 ~ ~ 7.4.7600.226

    5. status: installed

    6 output Type: Feature Pack

    7. install time: 25/09/2009 12:02 AM

    8. find the most recent and then make a note of the name of the package.

    9 then run: dism/Online/Remove - Package PackageName:WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel ~ 31bf3856ad364e35 ~ x 86 ~ ~ 7.4.7600.226(name of update from previous step)

    10. restart your PC.

    11. you want to start with the most recent and remove them one at a time to find the update problem.

  • Mirage Pivot fails when you are using software that replaces the Windows Login (GINA) as Imprivata

    When you try to perform a migration recently at a client site the pivot process has not completed as planned because of Imprivata. Imprivata is a SINGLE sign that seems to replace the Windows GINA and provides a custom login screen.

    During an attempt of the Pivot process (Mirage 4.3) the start of Windows Update screen does not appear and the standard Windows login is displayed. When you manually login customer Mirage shows the USMT process is underway. This allows users to log in and is generally not the process but it does not complete the USMT process and join the domain.

    This is due to the customer Imprivata, although we suspect that would happen with any product which replaces GINA of Windows.

    Workaround solution:

    We are uninstalling the client of the base image Imprivata and try to apply this to be an application layer or display the migration script.

    Has anyone else had this problem with a SINGLE sign or a custom GINA solution?

    We have removed Imprivata and the process worked ok. We are now reinstall using the post migration script that works

    I read this from an old thread in this forum.
    Here is the suggested solution...
    Disable the webcam.
    Start button > Control Panel > Classic view > Folder Options > view > first entry,check "always show icons never thumbnails" > OK.

    Open your Webcam again. The message is passed now?
    If so, turn off the webcam.
    Back to Folder Options > uncheck the first entry "always show icons never thumbnails".

    Open the webcam again. The message comes back?
    If not, problem solved.

    Desktop applications only which can work to the Surface RT are Office Office RT and IE10. Apart from this, you will need to find a modern application (aka metro) of the Windows store.

    Thus, you can not install Windows Essentials, which is a desktop application on the Surface of RT.

    Video editing is very demanding on computer equipment/resources. Tablets are not the best devices for this type of work even if you do not find an app. I can see some video party 3rd edition apps on the Store Windows but I have no experience with them.

    You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully save programs and data) or a repair installation.
    Be sure to do a good backup or three.

    Unfortunately, you cannot use the keys provided for Windows 8 for Windows 7. In any case, directly upgrade your installation from Windows 7 to Windows 8. The keys are specific to the Windows versions, editions and architectures. They cannot be used between.

    Yes, you can go ahead and try the steps in my previous post and check if this solves the problem.

    If these steps is not enough you can follow these methods and check if it works:

    Method 1: I you recommend to turn off the computer, unplug the power, restart the computer and reconnect the USB device. See if the device is detected.

    Should I use basic mechanical system on my new Windows 8?  Whenever I have call Dell for support on another issue, they me to do this, the pressure insisting that Dell prefers customers to have this and it is very important.   I finally gave in last night after two hours of tired discussion (always support the India).  They carried me, against my better judgment and I charged $115.  (When I asked the price several times, each person evaded my question with finesse.  4 people, quite hammered me on this subject.)  I found it only cost $40 on the site of SM, so for me it is a real scam and will take opening upward with them tomorrow when business offices.  Everything I read in the MS community suggests that it is a bad idea, but I'm not clear on the question of whether it applies to Windows 8.

    I really hate Dell support and hold that I had utilisΘ Geek squad.  Microsoft so far has been very useful for its support.

    You must uninstall System Mechanic and not to install any third party maintenance program if free or paid for.

    I would not recommend Geek Squad either (after having seen a lot of posts here related)

    You sure it was Dell support were you talking so that I find it most odd that they suggested you buy such a third-party utility.

    I suggest you to completely remove Norton of the system using Norton Removal Tool and check if the problem persists.
