  Usually, a tree is created with nodes is collapsed. Are you sure that you do not have somewhere call ITreeViewMgr::ExpandNode()?

  If your expanded nodes only reflect the previous state, the commentary to the header in ITreeViewMgr::ChangeRoot() mentions ClearTree (kTrue) for exactly this case...

  I no a lot of experience, but the best way to send the TV signal in laptop is using the coaxial antenna to the port.

  On the back side of your G15 also there S-video port. This port, you can use for the insertion of signal for your laptop.
