you want to replace my hard drive?

Seagate ST1000LM014 1 TB laptop computer Solid State Hybrid Drive MODEL IS COMPATIBLE WITH the DELL INSPIRON 15R 5521 OR NOT?

Hi, Mr. Kumar,

Yes, this drive should work. Keep in mind, it's a hybrid drive, NOT an SSD. If that's what you're looking for, the Seagate drive should be good.

Seems that you need a 2.5 IDE HARD drive.

  • 17i wanted to replace SSD HARD drive

I just bought a new screen Envy 17 t tactile image with a 1 TB HARD drive 5400 RPM. At the same time, I bought a new Samsung 840EVO 500 GB SSD with the intention to replace the slower HARD disk with the fastest SSD. I thought it would be a simple switch (I replaced the older drive in my laptop with no problems). I thought it would be a few screws and a small sign removed from underneath the laptop and everything would be made.

But after I got the new machine, I got everything install and running and left information for the SSD HARD drive, I have everything off and returned the machine and unfortunately... There are no signs (as described in the documentation) that I expected. She only siingle piece!

How to HARD drive to replace it? Am I supposed to remove all the screws and remove the bottom or top (where the keyboard is) does jump off and you have access from above?

    Help!

This model requires the removal of the top cover to the hard disk:

  • I want to replace my hard drive with an SSD. I is a SATA drive, but do not know the type.

I have a model m9373.me, an office, built in 2008. I want to change my SATA hard drive for an SSD, but I can't know what the active drive SATA type is. Should the new disk SSD be SATA I, II or III? How will I know?

Here are the specifications of your computer has HP Pavilion Elite m9373.me-. According to specifications, your computer is shipped with 2 x 750 GB drives (3.0 Gbps) SATAII 7200 RPM hard. Depending on the age of your computer, it supports the SATAII specification. Any SSD you buy will probably be a device SATAIII (6.0 GB/s) and will be retro-compatible with SATAII ports on your motherboard. Note that the SSD will only transfer data as fast as allow the port of the motherboard. You won't get the full implementation of the SSD in this system.

  • Qosmio X 500 - 10W - can I replace the HARD drive with another?

    Hello

I have a Qosmio X 500 - 10W with two drive HARD Toshiba MK5055GSX 500 GB 5400 RPM 8 MB? SATA II but is one of the hs so I'm wondering if I can be replaced by a more powerful style, drive HARD 750 GB 7200 RPM / min 16 MB Toshiba courses?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Your question is a bit hard to understand, but I think you want to replace the HARD drive with another (faster) model, right?

Well, that s no problem. 7200 RPM hard drives works, they are a little stronger, but they're faster so if you need more performance without problem.
750 GB or more are also no problem because the SATA interface is not the limited capacity. Theoretically 1 TB or more should also work.

Anyway, you can buy the 750Go you mentioned that it will work. :)

  • to replace my hard drive from 160g to 500g, what do I know

you want to replace my hard drive on a compaq presario sr055cl. It has a drive hard 160 g what size I can

Here is the service manual showing how to replace a hard drive:

    Manual

It has 2 SATA connectors. Here is a picture of the motherboard.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00069442

It's primitive SATA. It is a SATA connection to an IDE bus. However, having a 160 gig drive already installed tells me that the motherboard will accept Large Block Addressing 48 bit (LBA48), which means that you are not really limited by size. I am sure a 500 gig drive will work and will bet that a 1 TB would also work. I also bet you would have problems with a disc high density 2 TB or more. The existing drive is an IDE, which means that it is connected to the motherboard with a flat ribbon cable. You will have a hard time finding an IDE drive on the market these days. It must be SATA. Simply attach a cable SATA data between the hard drive and the motherboard. You probably need a molex (4pin white) SATA power adapter, too, but often those that come with the hard disk or are available for a couple of bucks at the store where they sell hard drives.

You should be able to clone the old drive using the new cloning software. I like and recommend Acronis True Image Home. If I did that I plug the new SATA drive into the port of the motherboard with the cover side and power also make the SATA drive. I would leave the original disc in and start cloning software disk doing a proportional resizing, all partitions are extended by the same percentage. After the clone is done remove the original disk and bolt the SATA drive in its place. I would just say allows you to add a second hard drive, but the computer doesn't have space for one unless you want to remove the card reader.

You may need to enable the SATA ports in the BIOS if they are not currently in use. Photo linked above motherboard page shows how to enter the BIOS. If you need assistance.

  • System Restore to factory settings after replacing the hard drive?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A52, which recently required a change of hard disk and the removal of a defective RAM 1 GB stick. When I bought my computer, it came with Windows XP Pro and the new hard drive that the updated computer has Windows XP Pro, but it seems to be missing a large part of the software (drivers and programs) that originally came with the computer, and even if I downloaded and installed most of them since the Lenovo Web site There are still some problems related to software that I can't fix. Ideally, I'd like to go back just to restore the system to the factory settings using the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery program, but I don't know if it will work. All programs and the necessary drivers will be installed again, even if my current hard drive is not 'knows' thereon? I need to get a Windows XP Pro installation CD, if I want to keep my operating system? Also, is it important that my current hard drive is half the previous, or that I now have half as much RAM?

    Thank you

After replacing the hard drive, the only way to restore it to the State of the plant is using the Lenovo installation diskettes. You can also ask if Lenovo has a solution to your problem without having to reinstall Windows.

You can download Lenovo drivers if they are not included on the installation disk. The size of your hard drive does not matter.

I want to replace my hard drive which is at 5400 RPM with a 7200 RPM.  Pavilion dv9810us laptop.  This laptop will do the upgrade in speed?

Yes as simple as plug & play.

WD Scorpio Black 500 GB or 750 GB if you need & with at least 16 MB of cache, they are readily available at great prices, fast & reliable... On a new generic installation Windows 7 you can get great startup faster disk speed gains. on an old HP of five year on windows 7 32 bit & 2 GB virtual laptop we get 45 > 50 seconds boot to usable desktop without too much effort & with antivirus installed thanks mainly to the fast drive...

  • I want to install new HARD drive

I want to replace my HARD drive with a bigger on my computer. How do I transfer my license to the new hard drive. The OS is Windows 7 Home premium.

If you want to transfer your existing installation on the new drive, you can use the backup and restore utility in Control Panel to create a system image and repair the drive.

If you intend to have a new facility on the new drive for the installation of your DVD of Windows 7 as usual. You will need to call the Activation Center to allow installation again. It has no process for 'unactivate' of the old license before replace her in place.

    TIA

    Hi TIA

I'm a bit confused. Your device comes with 20 GB of HARD drive. Usually, there is problem if someone wants to build in the HARD drive with a much higher capacity. The disc HARDER it who are you talking is just with 4.3 GB. Why you want to use this HARD drive on your device?

My opinion is that if you want to exchange the HARD drive, you must use the same as one with a higher capacity. This small, you can use as disk external DRIVE for backup of data.

  • Replace the hard drive on G60-445DX

You need to replace the hard drive of 320 GB in this laptop. After you install the new hard drive, is it possible to put the old hdd as an external? The old drive is Vista; the new drive will be Win7Pro. I need to transfer data and eliminate the virus 'Internet Security Pro 2013 "on the old drive. Is it possible, perhaps using usb?

Thanks for the envelope, at Newegg. I need now to locate a reasonally price hdd and since I'll install Win7Pro 64-bit and more memory.

Karpersky drive starts an analysis, but 10 minutes in this analysis, the loptop stop! I tried Mode safe several times... Malwarebytes is available, but after a few minutes the laptop stops. This really aggrevating! But, if all goes well, update the HDD, memory and OS my daughter will have a reliable for a few years... machine now, if she believes everything that appears on his screen... and runs a scan on a regular basis, maybe all will be fine for some time to come.

  • Replace a hard drive in 2330 Inspiron all-in-One

You need to replace the hard drive in my all-in-one. Old drive completely zapped and no way to recover anything. After that I installed the HD, then I just insert a drive of W7, turn on and get a Setup screen?

In addition, I have the pictures stored on an external drive. After that I installed W7, can I use these images to return to my lost OS?

To boot from the Windows 7 disc, you will need to press F12 and choose the option to boot from the optical drive. It should start and begin the installation, but will ask you to choose different options for Windows.

When it's done, you need to install the drivers for the hardware in this system and in the right order. You can download the drivers from the Dell Support using any PC site and save it on a USB key for installation on the AIO.

I do not understand the second question. If you perform a clean Windows 7 install, you will not need the OS from the image. You may be able to open this image and the personal files, but you cannot retrieve any software that was previously installed. Software must be installed directly in Windows 7.

But depending on how you created the image on the external drive, you should be able to use it in order to directly imager the new disk, with certain restrictions. You will need a bootable CD/DVD with the imaging software on it in order to start the PC and then tell her image to install on the new drive. Do not forget that some imaging software will allow you only to image the new drive if it is exactly the same size as the drive on which the image was created, but some imaging software can give you the option to install the image on a driver which is bigger than the original.

Better read the instructions of your imaging software specific see what you need and how to use it for the new disc of images.

If person don't you know is an older drive, you can borrow for a few minutes, you will need, you will need to either buy a copy full XP or take the unit to a local computer professional to do the XP installation for you.
