You want to update to Windows 8. How can I update now?
I bought this toshiba satellite used yesterday. The person made records so I could go back to new condition. I did it. So, there are more than 100 updates installed. It takes a lot of time.
First he made 1 or 2 at a time. Then he makes about 90 and I guess some did not work so he said go back to before the updates (I don't remember exactly what he said, but that was about it)
Now I'm up to 15 left.
I would like to upgrade to windows 8.1, but the store said that I have to do all these updates first.
The way I've been updated is to search for updates (which takes about half an hour), then restart.
When do the previous updates the only way, I realized to update has been restarted. By hitting the restart of settings (which is the only way I found to restart or shut down the computer, still new to win 8), he said always update and restart.
Is it possible to have it just update without turning off the computer? In all previous versions of Windows, there is a link "update now". Is there another way to do this?
I don't mind restarting, but I restarted 3 times now and there has been no new update update.
How to upgrade the rest updates?
BTW I'm hip and the update I have it plugged an ethernet cable to accelerate this. Still seems to take a long time.

I suggest you perform upgrade in-place from Windows XP. This operation reinstalls Windows XP to the same folder on your computer where it was originally installed.
However, before you perform the upgrade on Windows XP site, back up important data to another location as disc CD/DVD, USB etc.

There is no available free and legal Vista download
See how you can use this information:
Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista
Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it
they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought
you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer
Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Hello
Here's how to reinstall Vista with the Glens recovery Partition (if available to you):
"Restore your software Computer´s factory settings."
And this is how to use recovery provided Dell discs:
"Manually reinstall your Windows Vista operating system"
If necessary (if you have problems with discs), call Dell and ask them to provide you with a set of recovery disks Vista.
They do it for a small fee.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
See you soon.

Given that I deleted prefs.js and user.js when I connect to any account in the upper-left appears
"you want to update the password saved for" this interferes with the connection and now it won't let me connect you to your e-mail account.
I wonder where it appears? I don't want to use it and want better to delete, but don't know how?
I wanted to add a page in this issue, but as usual Firefox won't like that I guess. So, after this announcement I'll add.Thank you.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7. But whenever I turn on my computer, he wants to support me on my user account name before completely loading windows. How can I stop this and simply load in thank you Windows.
Hi UKuser7,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum.
Automatic logon is disabled in Windows 7 by default for security reasons. If it is enabled, anyone who can physically access the computer can also gain access to everything on the computer, including the networks that it is connected.
This setting is only recommended for cases where the computer is physically secure.
To set up Windows 7 to connect to the desktop automatically, follow the steps below.
1) click Start , and then enter the following command in the start search box:
Netplwiz
2) press ENTER.
This opens the Advanced user accounts Control Panel window.
(3) in the users tab, uncheck the box next to users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
4) click apply at the bottom of the user accounts window.
(5) when the newspaper automatically on the dialog box appears, enter the user name for which you want to automatically connect to Windows 7. Then enter your password in the two areas where it is requested.
6) click on the OK button.
7) click OK in the window user accounts to complete the process.
Thereafter, your PC at startup, Windows 7 will be automatically connect.
Ticket back for your comments and concerns.
Kind regards

When I go on craigslist and click on answer, it too will windows mail, but I want to go to my yahoo how can I do this?
Craigslist requires that you use a default mail client. Yahoo's Webmail and not an e-mail client. You may be able to get around it with this fix. If this isn't the case, you would need a Yahoo Plus account is established in Windows Mail.

Can quicken 2007 run on El Capitan (i.e., os 10.11)? I have one currently using Yosemite and you want to update without losing the use of Quicken 2007. I don't like the new version of Quicken.
Join the club of those of us who don't like Quicken 2015 or 2016 Quicken; even if I bought it for a 40% discount offered by Intuit! I was just disappointed by Q2016 compared to Quicken 2007!
If you have upgraded to the 16.2.3, version it will work well in El Capitan!

I'm not Admin and you want Skype on my user account, how do I do this?
Hello
- The computer is connected to the domain environment?
It is not possible to install a program in the nonadministrator user profile. However, if you know the credentials (user name and password) of the administrator then, try the steps below to install the program under the non administrator user account.
Right-click on the Setup file
Select the second option "Run as Administrator" from the menu drop-down
Now, enter the administrator user name and password which will allow you to install the package on the account.
In case you do not have the administrator username and password you could get in contact with the administrator to install the software.
