Z500 2 problems

First thing I would ask is what screen I need replace my laptop because he broke out, everything else works fine?

And second question is if I can replace my keyboard without backlit for one with backlit?

You can search for the part number of the display on page 73 of the hardware maintenance manual. For the backlit keyboard, there should be two cannectors of the kb to be used in the motherboard. See thislink on Ebay.

I have problems with brightness adjustment on my z500. I tried to download and install the "intel" driver update, but get the message that I'm already running later. And I can't find any earlier version in my drivers on drive D. I was using just the normal battery turn when he went suddenly dimmed. No change when you go to electric. Updated running Nvidia GeForce GT740M prosessor graphics card drivers.

  • Z500 Windows8 USB 3.0 problem

Hi, I just bought my Lenovo Z500 with no operating system. So, to test the new Windows, I installed the Enterprise version 8. Everything works smoothly so far, with the exception of USB 3.0. I have an external drive, Samsung M3, which works perfectly on USB 2.0 my old laptop and my new Z500 2.0 as well. When I plug port int 3.0, the system detects, but as soon as I'm trying to cpy all files on my drive HARD, Samsung simply dissaears. I tried different drivers, Intel and Lenovo, none works (Win7 Driver tested both versions).

Any ideas? The drive itself is fine, the files are transferred via perfectly 2.0 terminal.

check the version of your M3 firmware, I had a WD actin disc 1 funny, put TB to update its firmware and smooth as butta.

  • USB 3 on a Z500 problem

I bought Windows 7 so I could downgrade from Windows 8, installed all the drivers and BIOS updates to the new Version. As soon as I tried to install the Drivers for the USB 3, I had the BSOD, thinking that it is perhaps down to the version of the driver I've been tracking a few drivers more precedents and a more recent. Everyone that I have tried gives me the BSOD.

So to see if it was a problem with Windows 7 I reinstalled Windows 8 and tried again, still got the BSOD. Then I updated to Windows 8.1 and still the same. I then re partiioned the hard drive and installed Ubuntu, Ubuntu did not recognize the USB Port, so tracked down a few drivers for it, when I tried to install the drivers Linux Ubuntu crashed.

Any idea what is happening or how to fix?

I managed to get the problem sorted, in Windows 7 download the driver directly at Intel https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProdId=3467

Before you install the driver to make sure that you have installed the Chipset driver first and rebooted your laptop then install usb driver 3. For Windows 8, 3 USB driver is in the Chipset download driver.

  • Z500 hard drive failed, when the new bios disk inserted don't is not loading

Out of the blue my z500 crashed and restart the hard drive was not recognized. I opened and made sure it is properly connected. Still nothing.

I bought an ssd and inserted into the slot of the hard drive and when turned on it flashes the lenovo bios boot screen then instantly goes black. It flashes black then black and backlit constantly

I removed the SSD and it loads the BIOS without a drive.

I returned the ssd and got a replacement. The same problem reoccured.

The ssd is approved to the z500 site crucial and fine as an external hard drive can be installed.

The original hard drive makes a powered noticeable when rattle noise so I guess it was a normal failure.

Any ideas? Any other information needed? I am a complete newbie to these forums and appreciate help from anyone.

    Thank you very much

Try to install the ssd (of course power should be turned off before doing so). After the physical installation and place the back cover press the NOVO button. A menu should appear and select bios Setup to access the bios. If you can go into the bios put the bios configuration to the default values. Then set the PXE boot to disable. Save and exit.

Note: You must start in a usb/dvd of windows installer since the ssd has nothing about it yet. Then may need to change some settings in bios inorder to do this.

  • Z500 Lenovo does not start. Help, please!

Hi guys! First time on the forum. I recently got my lenovo Z500 a few months ago and it's a great laptop. However at night last he simply stopped working. While I was just surfing the Internet Windows started does not. It got to the point where I had no choice but to turn it off. When I turned it back on it rest on the start screen, and nothing happens. When it starts the fan is silent and then in a bit of overdrive. My friend is of the opinion that it is a problem with windows 8, but unfortunately it won't even let me do a safe mode boot. F8 does not work and my only chance was to F12, but unfortunately, even if it brings the option of boot and I can select the screen goes black and stay like that. Thank you very much in advance for anyone who can provide any help!

My apologies if I'm a little in every sense. Unfortunately I am very amateur when comes to computers. How can I go about starting the recovery media in the USB port? Once again sorry if I melt your brain. I don't have a clue haha.

In fact, you have several options:

    1. you can call Lenovo and request to do the repair if your camera is still under warranty.

    2. If you don't mind losing any of your data and custom programs, you can try to restore your system back to factory default by pressing the NOVO button (located next to the plug) while the unit is turned off. Select a recovery key and choose restore. You can read the details by downloading the user guide and go to page 23. Links: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=UM016744.

    3. USB recovery media initialize.

    4 etc.
