Z500 touchpad is dead

Hello

Bought a z500, a week or two ago and now the touchpad does not work.

I saw a bunch of other threads for other models, but none specifically about the z500.

The Fn + F6 thing doesn't seem to work as it does nothing.

What are the other options?

Thank you

Mine did the same thing this week, it was due to an update of Microsoft driver installed on the Lenovo one.

the way I got mine working was to download the driver from the Lenovo Web site and reinstall again. If it won't let you install, you may need to uninstall the old driver first.

Pilot, I used can be found here:

Hope that helps

  • Pavilion dm4 touchpad is dead

I have a Pavilion dm4 2165dx.  The product number is QE375UA #ABA.  The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

We had this laptop for about two weeks and since last week, the touchpad pointing device has been utterly extinguished.  I installed the latest version of the BIOS and the Alps pointing device driver.  These two have already installed the latest version, but I reinstalled in all cases.  I also did a hard reset by taking back in the battery and now the power button for 15 seconds and then put the battery and power on.  Nothing did.  The Panel said the Alps pointing device does not work correctly.

Any suggestions?  It is time to return the laptop?

You did all the troubleshooting procedures except reinstalling the OS, and somehow, I don't think it will make a difference.

It's time to return the laptop.

    Hello

Normally, you will find the driver on the utility CD & Tools that came with the device. But you can also find some drivers on the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite L750D - issue strange keyboard/touchpad

Hi guys, I'm new here and I hope you can help me.

    I have a Satellite L750D here who has a strange keyboard/touchpad issue.

Recently, my screen was replaced and I toke the possibility of replacing the DD by a SDS.

I used the OS restore cd that I created from the partition recovery and completely reinstalled Windows 7 64 - Bit ones.

Everything seemed to work well after the last restart.

Then my after reboot, the keyboard was not working and or the touchpad.
I tried to restart / stop and start again, no change.

I plugged a USB keyboard and mouse, both work perfectly.

I reinstalled the drivers of touchpad on Toshiba site, still no change.

Then, I closed the lid and leave Notepad go into sleepmode/setting standby extended and found that when I opened the lid/screen, the keyboard was working again, but not the touchpad.

Fn + F9 made no difference.

I then pressed the button above the touchpad, but the touchpad remained dead. But after pressing this button, the keyboard went dead too!
The key for the touchpad power made no difference, the keyboard or the touchpad remained dead.

Given zero made no difference either.

Throw the drivers in safe mode led the pilots to be reinstalled, but both keyboard and the touchpad remained dead.

The only thing to bring back the keyboard is the cover and goes sleepmode/setting to Hibernate and wake up to the laptop.

But press the button above the keyboard and the touchpad is dead again.

Started from a Windows 7-LIVE CD, both keyboard and the touchpad remained dead.
Started from a live CD of Ubuntu Linux, keyboard works, no mather, you press the button for the touchpad, but the touchpad
    died.

Is there anything else I can try, or what I have to assume there's something defect requiring hardware repair/replacement?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Kind regards
    Jan

I plugged a USB keyboard and mouse, both work perfectly.

It's really strange... from my point of view of the rare, the mouse and external keyboard works properly, then the controller should be OK, and this means that the anomaly must be linked to the defective keyboard / touchpad.

But on the other hand, you said that the keyboard works correctly starting Linux Live CD.
For me, it makes no sense and I'm confused...

Anyway, given that the laptop has been disassembled to replace the screen and other parties, I think that something went wrong during this process and probably a part has been affected...

In my opinion, it is advisable to replace the keyboard and to check if it will fix the problem.

  • G40-70 touchpad not working not

    the Titus says it all.

I already tried different solutions, but can not see my mouse move or click again with the touchpad.

the mouse works well, but the touchpad is dead.

    any help?

There is no driver for the touchpad for windows 10 on lenovo Web site?

    is this fair?

Well, I just deleted the driver for the touchpad and leave the computer without having to reboot for somedays.

I believe that this update of windows has recognized that something was missing and probably included this driver on the updated list.

    Anyway,.

as soon as I restarted the computer, my touchpad was still good.

So my recommendation is: remove the driver and restart your computer.

that has worked well for me.

  • Questions of Touchpad on Satellite A30

    Hi all

Recently, I sent my Satellite A30 for repairs because the touchpad is dead. Since I had 'fix', his erratic behavior. Sometimes, I lost all the horizontal movement, with only the operation of the vertical direction. Sometimes during a windows session, I lose the feature full touchpad (including the left/right button).

I also noticed that a fresh windows session allows me to use scrolling (side of the touchpad) and also rear ease in web browsers. However, after a few moments, windows stopss recognizing the scroll and the b/f gestures (even if the touchpad in my tray icon highlights the fact that I use).

I've updated my ALPS drivers to the latest version, but that didn't fix it.

I'm guessing that it's a software issue and not a hardware fault as a reboot solves these problems temporarily. I don't know if there is a hardware problem that confuses the software. I have no idea.

If anyone has any ideas or has experienced this before, please let me know as it's more boring.

    See you soon,.

    Jason

    Hello

It's not easy to say why this touchpad problem.
Questions sometimes very strange occur due to overheating. I noticed that if the temperature goes down to the critical level of the operating system stops, the laptop crashes or many strange issues occurs as a malfunction of the touchpad. In your case, I recommend that you check the cooling modules and try to use the vacuum cleaner for cleaning. Maybe it helps.

The second possibility is that the touchpad has a malfunction. You know, it has been replaced in the past and it is possible that there is something wrong with the hardware.
You can contact Toshiba service partner and explain the situation after the replacement of touchpad.

    Good luck

  • Spectrum x 2: spectrum x 2 touchpad not working not

    Dear HP support,

the touchpad on our spectrum x 2 does not seem to work -.

I read what is suggested on another similar post. We are pleased to make this "hard reset", but how can we be sure that we will not lose data / create any other problem on the pc?

    Thank you very much

    Pier

If it was me I would start from a USB for Linux Live USB like maybe Ubuntu or Knoppix and see if the touchpoad works in another operating system, or even just to enter diagnostics UEFI (F2 as you turn on) where I think that the mouse should be active. If the touchpad is dead in another software environment then logically it must be material. The touchpad is a chip of electronic detectors and they can and will the bad like any other piece of electronics.

  • Predator G7 - 793 Touchpad not working not not Windows 10.

I have a laptop of G9-793 completely new Predator.

When the computer is running it 1 time setting, I noticed, Touchpad works do not.

I plug in the USB mouse and continue. I proceeded to update Windows 10. , download all updates, and then go to the Web site own Acer and download all the drivers. Install any drivers. Restart the computer. Touchpad still does not work.

Touchpad can not be found in Control Panel or Device Manager. It only recognizes performances / temporary mouse that I use. Keyboard fn + 7 shows an icon at the top of the screen, but nothing more.

BIOS > MAIN show "Touchpad" and will give the possibility to choose between basic and advanced settings. There is no impact/difference regardless on which you can choose. Touchpad remain dead.

    Any help?

Contact official Acer customer service, drivers updated, refreshed operating system and bios. None helped so returned as a faulty computer and sent a new. I'm going to hope that it is one of the 1 million cases and the next of the same computer model will work without error.

  • Satellite T130 - need help after update for Windows 8

    Hello

    I use Satellite T130 Y9075161W serial number.

There is no support for windows 8 (especially the drivers).
It's very disappointing. In my case, I installed windows 8 and I have a few problems.

The touchpad is 'dead' and the shortcut as WHAT WLAN cannot be used anymore.
Are there users who have installed windows 8 on this system?

    Best regards
    aisakos

You are right. This old piece of hardware is not supported for Win8 and Toshiba offer not only any what Win8 driver, the tool and the utility. You shouldn't be disappointed. Toshiba and other manufacturers of portable does not offer support for all operating systems, especially for older models of laptops.

It can be very problematic to use newer OS on the old machine.
I can see it is fully supported for Win7 64 bit so I think it's the best OS for this little machine.

In any case, let's see if some other owners have little luck with Win8 installed.

    Go to Device Manager
go to view - > click on 'show hidden devices '.

  • Stream laptop HP 11: after the update of windows 8.1 Windows 10, the touch pad does not work

My Hp Notebook PC 11 Stream works fine on Windows 8, 1 until I updated to windows 10. Now the touchpad is dead. I have to use a USB mouse.  In Device Manager, all the drivers work fine. Any clue?

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome.

    Information below can help you

Make sure your keyboard is on

Check in the settings 'Mouse & touchpad' to ensure that the touchpad is enabled.

Open the Settings menu (Start > settings) and go to devices > Mouse & touchpad. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and then click additional mouse options.

The mouse properties window opens. Click on the tab more far to the right (it may be called MOMENTUM ordevice settings). Under devices make sure your keyboard is not disabled. If it is disabled, click on the touch pad to select, and then click Activate.

Another thing to try is to see if your laptop has a function button that enables / disables the touchpad. It should look like a tiny touchpad with a diagonal line through it (on my computer laptop is F6, on other laptops we Fn + F5, Fn + F6 , or something else entirely). Try to switch this key if you have before you panic on the misfortunes of possible touchpad.

    Update your drivers

Windows 10 has been out for a few months now, and most of the manufacturers of touchpad have updated their drivers accordingly. But you may need to manually update your driver.

There are two ways to do this. First, click on the Start button and select Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, open the Device Manager.

By clicking on "update driver software... "will your computer Internet search for an updated driver.

  • HP TouchPad is completely dead

After using the touch pad a following, the next day it became completely dead.

I thought that the battery could be drained.

    If connected to the charger.

But after that nothing has been seen on the screen.

I tried all five ways to make the HP in operating condition, mentioned on the support of the touch pad.

It is said in the fifth stage to install WebOS doctor.

I did it too and when I coonect the camera to the laptop, the device is detected by the laptop, but WebOS doctor do not highlight the next button.

I kept it for 4-5 hours of charge with USB port.

    But it still does not.

After loading of Ubuntu on PC.

I need to connect the touchpad on the laptop, and it will give instructions to activate my touchpad.

    Hope I'm right?

Even if it might be too obvious, but I'm new with it. Please excuse me if I asked too obvious.

    Thank you once again

Once more, you will need to follow the directions exactly as written in the thread that we have linked to you.  Just plug the touchpad to the pc will not fix anything - you need to download both programs, unzip and extract one of them, change the directory, and then run the program.

    Good luck!

  • HP Touchpad - Dead Pixels

    Hello

Today, I received my HP Touchpad (32 GB), but unfortunately it had a few dead pixels it is unlikely that the store I bought it since no longer has in stock (DABS - United Kingdom), so I was wondering how can I do to get this problem? I tried to speak to a representative of online support and they just closed the session after reading the question

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

I would call Support HP on the phone.  I guess you got your TP priced at fire sale?  If so, I highly doubt the store could take and swap it out.  I guess they have no stock to swap with.

  • Touchpad and trackpoint dead with 1.17 on Linux bios

    Hello!

I have a laptop of E460, on which I am dual booting Windows 10 Pro and Manjaro Linux (mainly Arch Linux) with the kernel Linux 4.5.2.

Having the same problem as people discuss in the thread E460 keys repeat when 3 seconds , I've been banging my bios to 1.13, 1.16 and yesterday, 1.17 bios, to see if the problem had been solved.

With the 1.17 bios update, my touchpad and trackpoint stopped working under Linux (Windows they work fine). They do not yet appear in/dev/input, and there is no mention of one of them in dmesg, journalctl, /var/log/Xorg.0.log or anywhere.

The touchpad and stick worked fine in the bios 1.13 and 1.16, so I think that there is a regression in 1.17.

Everyone knows this? Can Lenovo, if there is a problem?

Have you tried to reset the default BIOS settings? Then try again.
