Z60m & c2d

Correct me if I'm wrong.

T60 and z60 are almost the same. There are with Core 2 duo procesors, or even simply dual core t60. So if I bought the t60 c2d anywhere, it should work with mine z60m?

With all that said, you can throw in an a Z61m motherboard in your shell and then install a C2D processor.

If it would be financially feasible is another thing, but it can be done.

    Hi all
Small question. I still have six months toshiba warranty on my A300-1ED. laptop is very good. Never fail. But it lacks performance so I want to upgrade my PDC T2390 to some C2D processor.
Tell me what model of C2D my A300-1ED runs (card mother and bios)? T7500? T5750? Frequency FSB? 667 or 800?

Someone at - he do it before?

    Thanks for all the tips!

    Hello

First of all, you will lose the warranty if you would disassemble the laptop!
This should be clear to you.

Then there is no guarantee that your laptop would go well and stable after this upgrade the CPU.
I m thinking about issues of compatibility between the processor and BIOS since the BIOS was pretested with the other processors.

However, I have read some threads here on the CPU upgrade and some users do that
Seems that some laptops run without any big problems after upgrade CPU, but I think it's not consistent for all series

  • Z60m / T60 HDD upgrade

    Hi all

I offered to upgrade the HARD drive in a T60 opportunity bought by a friend of their son, on my advice. The HARD drive is 40 GB and his sister has a portable HDD 500 GB on her new computer, imagine how it feels!

I've been putting it for a while because of the cost of readers of IBM, which I suppose should be used. Reading that it is possible to upgrade using purchased Besides hard drives and seeing that the cost is less than half of those of IBM, I decided that I might as well update my Z60m at the same time.

In any case, the point is that I'm concerned about compatibility issues. I saw, in a thread, a link to the firmware of the HARD drive updates where there was a list of supported hard disks and found two Seagate drives in the list that I can buy relatively cheaply. Before seeing the list I was going to buy some Toshiba drives that were a bit cheaper than the Seagate ones. I am to be more careful or my way of thinking just that it's a 'safer' bet to buy Seagate drives in the hope that they will at least work out of the box, even if the firmware updates cannot. Are Seagate drives as good as any other compatible? I see that people go to the Hitachi drives but they are more expensive still.

    Sorry for the hike.

    Thanks for your help.

As long as it's a laptop SATA drive, 9.5mm/2.5' format, it will work in your ThinkPad (s) without any problem whatsoever.

    Enjoy the upgrade.

  • Upgrade Z60m Hard drive

    Hi all

I plan to upgrade the hard drive in my z60m, a Seagate momentus 7200.4, essentially because it's in the final list of the firmware update I could find.

I created the ISO disc for the verification of updates of the firmware of the HARD drive and checked my current drive, it works.

I intend to install windows on the new drive using the restore discs, after which I will manually install the updates for all drivers and all the files that I use regularly.

My question is when should I use the ISO HDD firmware update program. I'm not buying my IBM HARD drive and understand that the update of the firmware may not work, but at what point should I try. I thought to install the new hard drive and then run the firmware update software before you install the OS from the restore disks. Is this true or do I have to update the firmare HDD after that I installed the original image on the new hard drive?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum!

Firmware update is really not so much a big deal, you can do it from a bootable CD before installing the operating system, or at any time after that you installed. It really won't do much difference anyway.

    Good luck.

  • memory for z60m

Hello. Sorry for the question. I have an Ibm thinkpad z60m with a ram of 512 MB. I know I can improve up to 2 Ghz. What type of memory I need to get? And where can I buy it? I would like a 2 Ghz module.

    Thank you. Bye,.

    Davide

    P.S. I live in Italy.

My initial assumption was correct, do not hesitate to go ahead with up to 2 GB PC4200 or 5300 laptop RAM.

    Configuration of soft, incidentally.

    I hope this helps.

  • Devices strangers z60m

    Unknown device on other devices

    FN + Hibernate does not

FN + Easy Eject not working

    Hi sajimathew,

Could give you some info on your computer and OS as what version of Windows you are using and it is 32 or 64 bit? What is the model of your z60m type? You should find a sticker on the computer in the format "xxxx-yyy" where the X is 4 numbers and the Y is numbers and letters (for example, 4328-3EG). Do NOT post your serial number in public, I ask only the model number.

Did you clean install Windows using a standard windows installation CD/DVD or did you use a Lenovo recovery WHAT CD/DVD set?

For the Fn + function key works, you should install the software of hotkey features. The other unknown devices is probably some missing drivers, because you did a clean install.

I would recommend that you download Lenovo system update that will give you a list of drivers and software from lenovo for your computer and it will give you the possibility to download and install all the drivers, but also other software from Lenovo. Who will save a lot of time and work compared to download and manually install each driver. You also have the option to deselect a driver or a lenovo software if you don't want any.

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/TVSU-update.html

Version 4.0 is for Windows 7 as long as 3.14 is for XP and Vista. After using the system update and if there are still a few missing drivers or features that don't work you could respond on this thead element for additional help. In case of lack of pilots, it is helpful if you include the the hardware ID you can find by doubleclicking the device in device manager, select the Details tab and select hardware ID from the drop-down list.

  • The question of recovery of the Z60m?

I bought a really nice Z60m outside Ebay, its like new condition and Im very happy with it.  I have a question that I would like an answer, if anyone knows.  Seems like the guy I bought to had her wipe 'Tech' operating system, which is fine, except that the problem is they don't just wipe the XP partition, they took the road easy and wiped * EACH * partition, so I have more no recovery partition.

What I have is a HARD drive completely clean and my XP COA on the bottom.  Now what I want to do is to create a set of recovery discs off my T42 wife (who also runs XP Pro) and use them to recreate my Z60m new back to the factory.  I guess my question is: can I do this?  Keep in mind I have COA legal s for XP Pro on two laptops, so it is not a question of the legality of the OS, just a matter of fi T42 rescue disks or recovery discs will work on the reconstruction of my Z60m.

I expect to have to download all the drivers Z60m lenovo site and install them later...

Any ideas on this or better ideas that I have?

    sfraden, welcome to the forum,

It can work, set your SATA settings in the bios in compatibility mode and go. Yes, you will need to clean the drivers etc and no doubt use TVSU to get some things working. It will probably work if it isn't - sorry.

  • OC C2D 3.0

Hello, I have Dell 760 with socket 775, my first question is, can I upgrade my c2d four hearts? Model 0M858N-motherboard, chipset, q43/q45, A16 bios version.

My second question is, can I have overclocked intel e8400, because my Bios is not classic, I can't overclock the processor in the bios (I mean it's locked motherboard, I do not know..) But can I overclock with programs? If you can not write here, tell me in a ' box. Thank you all.

    Hi SasaBa,

The motherboard must be replaced to upgrade the processor. You may need to upgrade the power supply as well.

Motherboard and processor are the 2 most expensive components on a computer. In addition, you would be upgrading memory, operating system and possibly food. I suggest that consider you a new system, because he could find cheaper and you would get also the latest technology.

The following processors have been tested by Dell for Optiplex 760 and the available options are:

  • 2531 Z60m clocked only at 798 mhz?

    Hello

Had my Z60m again for about 5 years now but I upgraded the ram to 2 gig. Just to check, I installed cpu - z and found the ram is fine, but the processor run only 798 MHz. This is an intel pentium M 760 2.00 GHZ. I tried to find the settings in the bios to set it but can not find anything other than the speed step stuff. The multiplier is x6.0, bus speed MHz, 532,0 MHz FSB and core VID 133.0 is 0.988v. Anyone know how to make the processor running at its rated speed?

    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum!

The CPU will run at full speed when sufficiently loaded, what you see is the Intel SpeedStep Technology at its best.

Open Firefox windows 30 and watch a video about the 31st on youtube, you will see this processor to steal up to 1998 Mhz without delay...

    Good luck.

  • ThinkPad z60m hard drive upgrade

Hi all I have a thinkpad z60m I bought for a price very low. When I bought the laptop, it has been configured with processor 1.73GHz PM, 256 MB RAM and 40 GB HDD. I've already updated the memory to 2 GB to speed it up and it works well but I am now running out of space, and I want to switch the hard disk. Does anyone know the maximum capacity that can handle this laptop? It says in the manual that it can handle a maximum of 100 GB hard drive. But I came across this site Web offers a 160 GB HDD at 7200 RPM which is supposed to work with z60t z60m and t60 thinkpad. I cannot more than 100 GB for the main hard drive? Anyone here has tried to install a larger than 100 GB HDD main to a z60m? It work? I know I have a lot of questions, but I hope that someone could help me. Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum!

You can install a HARD drive larger than 100 GB to your machine, no problem. The reason why you see a limit of 100 GB in release documents is the fact that it was available at the time the largest HARD drive...

    I hope this helps.

  • CPU upgrade for dc7700 C2D 6300 to Pentium D 3.2 XE?

Hello everyone, I recently bought a HP/Compaq dc7700 SFF with a processor intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86 GHz. I have a spare Intel Pentium D 940 Extreme Edition @ 3.20 GHz and I wonder if there is much exchange gain it in. The OS is win7 64 bit, 8 GB RAM. the two procs are LGA775 socket.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies. In the search further, it seems that the C2D E6300 offer performance equal to the old Pentium D 3.2 with less electricity and heat consumption, so I'll leave it as what.

    Thanks again.

  • Z60m 2529FKG: replacement partno. for Touchpad?
