ZBook 17 G3: Premature sleep during outdoor display connected

Hello

I'm using the default settings in the power and sleep settings. The laptop is plugged into a power outlet. It is plugged into the docking station of love at first sight with the mouse, the keyboard and the ethernet connected. The screen is supposed to turn off after 10 minutes and the computer is supposed to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. It I do not connect an external monitor, everthing works fine.

If I connect a HP27sv monitor to an HP DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter and plug the docking station, and then I get the following behavior. After a reboot, everthing works fine until the first time that the computer sleeps: the display turns off after 10 minutes and wakes up in fine. After 30 minutes, the computer goes to sleep.  However, once the computer woke up from sleep mode, then it still comes down to sleep after two minutes. No matter what I do with the power settings and sleep, the computer goes into sleep mode after two minutes of inactivity.

I can also reproduce the bug by using the sleep on the keyboard button:

  • Connect the external monitor
  • Press standby on the keyboard, the computer goes to sleep
  • Wake up computer and connect
  • Wait two minutes without activity, the computer goes to sleep again (should be 30 minutes of waiting)

This system has the NVidia Quadro M1000M graphics card for the display docking station ports. Version of the NVidia driver is 354.86

Hello

There was a un communique release lately for the firmware of lightning, see support of your site and install it.

Also, here is the link of all possible problems and solutions for love at first sight. http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA6-5088EEW.PDF

Thank you...

    HY everybody :)
    If this problem occurs in 95% of the time when the external display is connected. Picture looks like it has some artifacts and color everything is blurred. ATI tools does not detect objects, and the system reboot or wake after sleep "solve" the problem.
    BIOS is the last, ram has been upgraded from 1 to 2 GB, there is no difference which is the OS or drivers are used (official or modded).

    Edit2: this display corruption occurs only on the main screen, never on external.

    So any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    We will perform a hard reset. To do this, leave the printer and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, press and hold the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release built his power, then after the minute, plug the printer in. Also, even if you have used a surge protector/power bar this whole time and you feel this isn't the cause, please plug it in to a wall outlet so that we can eliminate the source of energy as the primary cause.   Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power

  • E7440 - sleep issues and display problems

    There are three major issues I have with my laptop, and I was wondering if someone else was too... I have not yet contacted dell support, but I will in the weeks that follow if I figure somehow what he has going on myself.

    I had my laptop for a little less than 2 months, so these are the things that I noticed.

    Number 1: when you plug the power cord into the computer, the screen freezes on what it is currently. I noticed this problem because sometimes when I plug in my power cord and try to use the mouse pad to select something, the mouse pointer is gone! I have to disconnect - reconnect the power cable to get the pointer of the mouse to display again. I don't know what is the cause of this problem. It seems to have to do with the screen

    Number 2: when I wear my E7440 autour in my bad, or do close for long periods of time > 3 hours (I simply close the lid), the computer will be SHUT DOWN. The thing stops completely, even if I just closed the lid! At first, I thought he was just in hibernation, so I disabled hibernate in my power settings. But no, even when the computer is asleep, it will be occasionally closed it self without reason at all.

    Earlier, I closed the lid on my laptop and put my bag, then went back to my office about 10 minutes. When I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop, to my surprise, he had stopped by itself. All my open windows, browsers and applications have been closed and opening of chrome and microsoft word, I was greeted by "your browser is not stopped correctly" and "microsoft word recovered files. This points to the conclusion that it was not in Hibernate's fault, but rather a problem with the laptop stops when it is put to sleep. This issue must be corrected immediately if this is a widespread problem.

    Number three: when the computer wakes back from hibernation or from standby, the computer is very very slow, even when it is plugged. It is slow forever, OR until that power management is set to everything he needs 'high performance '. during the visit to the previous powerplan of high performance, the speed of the system is restored. That tells me that the system limits himself when he took over after the hibernation, because God knows why. This must be fixed; many people (including me) just thought that the system itself was slow and low power, without realizing it was just limiting himself when he came out of the mode standby or standby extended.

    If someone has one of these same problems, or knows a way to fix them, do not hesitate to post.

    Update to original poster! It does not work!

    PARTIAL CORRECTION

    1. press F2 during the boot and go to settings.

    2. go in power options and turn off 'block sleep '.

    3. Save and reboot.

    4. the system now seems to go into Hibernate when closing the lid.

    5. in fact in Windows, you don't see the option to sleep more.

    It takes more time to wake the portable computer, but at least all the work is intact.

    Let me know if it helps you.

  • Monitor goes to sleep during playback of a dvd in wmc

    I browse my residential wireless to my server in the Solution Explorer. I mount a disk image file video dvd (iso, I'm 1507 of them) in the remote location on a virtual drive.

    I installed an external software 'The Maxifier'. I go to the icon and choose the start page, WMC opens on the second display (projector). This process prevents it being trapped on the second screen of my mouse. Select (with mouse) movies/dvd and everythings great.

    Unfortunately displays to sleep while the movie is playing (prevents other dvd playback software it) Screensaver is set to 'none' If food options (when to turn off the monitor) is set to 10 minutes they will sleep in 10 min. If the value 2 hrs. they leave in 2 hours. I can move the mouse or press a keyboard, and they wake up back. Everything works normally except the software MCE preventing sleep monitor during playback. cannot find any setting to solve this problem.

    The problem is the remote computer is in my room, Planner normally wakes up the computer in the middle of the night, doing what he has to do, then fall back to sleep. (must be the internal code that the interview wakes the computer no display signal is sent unless there is user imput - oh well) Once the Scheduler wakes the computer it's not going to go back to sleep until the time of power options is obtained without user imput. (another pain in the neck) The sleep time can be lower timer monitor. If I set the monitor to 3 hours (longer than the movie), while I don't have the move disrupton, then when the movie ended I have to remember to put in a shorter time, or what I've done is completely close the box every night and leave the timer at 3 hours.

    Simplify the problems

    1 MCE does not monitor to fall asleep during DVD playback.

    2 when the Scheduler wakes the computer from sleep mode and finishes his tasks he does not put the rear computer to sleep.

    Remember that the monitor and the computer will go to sleep under the power options are set to, not a pilot or external software issue preventing sleep.

  • Screen MBP sleeps during video playback in full screen

    I have a MBP of 2007 running El Capitan (10.11.3) connected to an external monitor using the clamshell. While watching videos fullscreen in Safari (flash or HTML5), the external monitor standby according to the energy saving settings. In Mavericks it would behave normally (i.e. the screen would not go to sleep while watching videos, but would normally sleep when idle).

    Setting the parameters of the saver of energy will never leave the screen saver is not an option, because I don't want to stop the screen manually every time (I use it as a TV - pc).

    I had the same problem when I updated to 10.11.3 (actually, I don't mine clamshell when I connect to an external display, but had the same problem in that the computer went to sleep as if it has not been used despite a video playing in full screen on the outside).

    Here is how I fixed it.   Want to remove "com.apple.PowerManagement.plist" (path: Mac HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration > com.apple.PowerManagement.plist) then restart.  Worked like a charm.

    I hope this helps.

  • Remote Mac sleeps during the closing of the ARD

    I use ARD on my desktop Mac to control the iMac, we have put in place in the kitchen for our son. I can take control without problem, but a problem arises when I open a session when the iMac is sleeping. He wakes up when I connect via ARD, and I watch what he does, but when I close the window of ARD, the iMac locks immediately and it goes to a black screen. When I plug it back and connect again the same thing happens. We don't have this problem when I take control while the iMac is already registered in - in this case, I can take control and ARD nearby without this affecting the iMac - but if I have to open a session, I then need to open my window ARD on my Mac, otherwise the iMac locks immediately. Is there a way to prevent this?

    System kitchen of your son, you can run this command in a Terminal:

    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement RestoreMachineState - bool NO

  • Regular disk defragmentation does not intervene. Computer can be in mode "sleep" during the defragmentation?

    Disk defragmentation. will take place every week at 01:00.  Computer is in "standby" at that time.  Is this why disk frag does not happen every week?  When I defragment manually I have to confirm the status of administrator... it would have something to do with it?  I use Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hello Lauren,

    Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

    I understand that disk defragmentation does not work as expected. When this works even if your computer is in "sleep". Therefore, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

    Step 1: Check if the Disk Defragmenter service is running.
    a. click Start and type services.msc in the search box.
    (b) in the Services window, double-click the Disk Defragmenter service.
    c. check if the Disk Defragmenter service is set to Automatic Started .

    Step 2: The question may arise also because of the intervention of third-party software. So, I suggest clean boot of the system and check if the scheduled defragmentation works.

    How to perform a clean boot in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair. "

    Method 2:

    Try to set the Defragmenter to wake up the computer from the mode "sleep" and check if it works.

    1. Click Start, type taskschd.msc and press enter.
    2. In the left pane, click the arrow next to the Task Scheduler Library, Microsoftand Windows to expand the folders.
    3. Click the defrag folder.
    4. In the center pane, right-click on ScheduledDefrag and click Properties.
    5. Click the general tab.
    6. Check the box run with the highest privileges .
    7. Click the Conditions tab.
    8. Check the box to enable the computer to run this task and click OK.
    9. Close Task Scheduler.

    Check if the Defragmenter works to wake up the computer from the mode "sleep" as expected.

    If Disk Defragmenter does not at all, then we can see the post from Bill R TechSpec responded on 19 May 2011 in the following thread.

  • X 201 tablet will not lock, restart, sleep, closing or display UAC/consent UI after plugging in USB

    I have a X 201 Tablet (3113-W4M) comes preloaded with Windows XP SP3.  I amazed image XP and reloaded with Windows 7 Enterprise and got all the drivers for Windows 7 from the Lenovo Web site.

    The problem is that when the system resumes from standby or hibernation * and * I plug in a USB mouse or a USB keyboard/mouse combo, I manage not to lock, shutdown, restart or Hibernate the system.  In addition, something that called UAC is unable to display.  If I look at the process in the Task Manager, I see where consent.exe is running (called when a guest of UAC approval needs to be displayed).  Sometimes it runs several times corresponding to several events that should have displayed the prompt (e.g. running RegEdit).  Disable UAC is a workaround for this problem but does not address the root cause, and does not address the issue of the stop/lock/etc.

    After that extended troubleshooting which included 2 full OS reboot, trace log and deep customer processes, I reduced my question to the following steps:

    (1) boot with no USB Tablet mouse and/or keyboard attached

    (2) attach USB mouse and/or keyboard

    > Tries to lock the workstation and run Regedit, both work as expected.

    (3) Hibernate tablet (USB mouse and/or keyboard are connected)

    (4) out of the hibernation (USB mouse and/or keyboard are connected)

    > Try to lock the workstation and run Regedit, these two don't

    I discovered what I spend my working system (Logitech S510 keyboard/mouse combo) at home (Logitech LX 310 mouse).  I have all the updates of course Windows 7 and I installed the latest Logitech Setpoint.  The problem has occurred before and after the installation of the setpoint software.

    Curiously, I can reboot the system via command line using 'shutdown - r' but it takes 4 to 5 minutes as opposed to the less than a minute when it does occur.

    Thanks in advance to the community.

    Joel

    My laptop fun auto-dim when viewing the pages of certain brightness. If I'm looking at a dark Web page, it will dim. If I look at a blank page, it will increase brightness. It becomes bothersome. Is it possible to disable this? And no, I don't mean the auto dimmer, which uses a clock; I'm talking about the mirror that happens according to what is on the screen. So far, I've been unable to find the option that can turn it off.

    The 'getPoint()' method to get a coordinate GPS using LocationProvider.getLocation ().

    The method 'sendPoints()' send the GPS coordinated to a web server using the HTTP connection:

    ...

    HttpConnection con = (HttpConnection) Connector.open (URL); Open the connection URL
    con.setRequestMethod (HttpConnection.POST); POST method
    con.setRequestProperty ("Content-Type", "application/x-www-formulaires-urlencoded");
    OutputStream out = con.openOutputStream (); display the results in a stream
    out. Write (Data.GetBytes ());
    int responseCode = con.getResponseCode (); Send data and receive the response code
    If (responseCode == HttpConnection.HTTP_OK) {}
    success
    }
    If (con! = null) con. Close; close the connection to the URL

    ...

    The "storePoints()" method simply store the GPS on the Blackberry Persistent Store when the BB is out of coverage.

    When the Blackberry is trying to send a GPS coordinate, but cannot because it is out of coverage, GPS data are stored on the Blackberry. My thread can sleep for 15 minutes before getting another coordinated GPS. If the BB is on the cover in the next interval of 15 minutes, the two coordinates are sent (the current and that (or those) that have been saved on the device).
    It works very well.

    However, now, I would put up a CoverageStatusListener so my GPS coordinates would be sent as soon as the BB is on the cover (and not wait for the next 15 minutes).
    I tried to "COVERAGE_MDS", but he never seems to have triggered... but gets "COVERAGE_CARRIER".
    I have a post on this here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&thread.id=6076

    My question is on the wire. Actually here is called the 'sendPoints()' method:
    box (CoverageInfo.COVERAGE_CARRIER):
    System.out.println ("COVERAGE_CARRIER");
    GPS.this.sendPoints ();
    break;

    However, since my son sleeps, this method is not able to initiate a connection HTTP using MDS. I get an error in timeout after 2 minutes.

    I'm not an expert on the threads. I think I have all the necessary parts of the code... but I'm not sure about how to reorganize this.
    Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

    The network connection should be asked by a listener method.  Do not perform any operation or the heavy within a method of transformation of blocking listener.  Instead, you can create a new thread from the method which could then create the network connection to send your data.
