• Are there ways to increase the use of Win 7 RAM paging/caching memory?

  I have an Intel I5 Ivy Bridge CPU, Win 7 64 bits Home Premium OS, 16 GB of RAM and GPU Nvidia GTX 550 it to 1 GB DDR5 memory.  I run two programs in real-time mapping/trading stocks on two monitors.

  My goals are to improve the time to re - draw screen and reduce the Windows hard disk access.  Although there are alternatives to consider, I would like to invite the community to thoughts on two issues:
  1. how to increase the use of the RAM to the paging/caching window: tools of the surveillance system show that the use of the RAM is about 30% of the installed 16 GB all cached Windows hard disk is constantly busy.   If there is a tweak to increase the use of the RAM, I could develop memory 32 GB RAM.
  2. otherwise, I could install a 120 GB Solid State Drive.  Then, the question is whether you use the SSD for the OS or as according to Intel Rapid Storage disk cache would give the best solution for the above stated objectives?

  My understanding is that the software is responsible for the amount of RAM is used.

  In CSS, the asterisk (*) is often used as a universal selector to reset the browser default margins, padding, borders, etc... on everything.   You won't see anywhere in your HTML code.

  I'm not aware of any way to solve the problem before opening the files, but you can avoid setting each file individually after correcting one, if the styles of paragraph and character in the documents are used consistently with each document.

  Open files unfixed and ignore the message of missing fonts. Then choose load all text Styles in the paragraph Styles Panel menu or character Styles; This brings in the fixed styles since the fixed file to the currently selected file.

  You can do this for multiple files, by collecting the individual documents in an InDesign book file. In the book file, define a single fixed file as a Style and synchronize styles of paragraph and character of all selected files.

  Read the help for more information on loading and using the functionality of the book styles to synchronize multiple files with a source of style.
