Attach external files to signed pdf forms.

I work for the Department of the army and get pdf forms to be completed directly with the direction of army publication. I have contacted about this problem and I was told it is a restriction in the Adobe software and they can't solve it.

The army uses evaluation forms to be signed to vmultiple times throughout the year, both by employees and supervisors. The process is the following:

The Spiderbeam of the rating period, the employee receives the assessment form and is required to sign digitally to document its acceptance of the requirements of the job for the coming year. At the end of the year, it is necessary to attach an external file indicating their achievements throughout the past year and then digitally sign the form. The supervisor then adds his digital signature to the bottom of the form. The problem is, once the initial employee digitally form, he or she can join is no longer external files. Therefore, the files are routed separate from the signed form and there is nothing that links the two together even if the employee and the supervisor are both certifying that what is on the attachment is specific when they sign the pdf form. It's a problem because the attachment can be altered.

If it is not a solution at this time, I ask Adobe Acrobat to consider this type of scenario when they write patches/fixes for the software and/or by creating the next version.

Sincerely,

Donna S. Curtiss

Hi donnac51709058,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused, however this is a limitation. Than to join the files changes the structure of the PDF file that will not be allowed once the PDF file is signed.

I will surely take note of this issue.

Kind regards

    I have a secure form that I need to add pages at the end to provide all the necessary information. is there a way to do this?

    They really give instructions to add pages in the PDF file, or simply add printed pages?

    Basically, you would need Acrobat to insert pages in a PDF file (unless the creator of the PDF has provided a mechanism to do this with the reader).

  • How to manage the image files used in PDF forms

    With LiveCycle, I created an interactive form for requests of Help Desk-type and the form works perfectly. I tested it and everything works. See the property. Hide, clear the fields. And all other behaviors I added with the Action Builder.

    As a final design feature, on my local machine at work, I've added a header image (which is in My Documents > my pictures). I have tested locally and downloaded the form in Sharepoint and tested from there, and from what I can remember, the form went well. The header was intact. So I assume that type of image has been incorporated somehow.

    Then I put the House file and opened it and - Voila! -No header image!

    That's happened?

    The image files need to be downloaded and the path relative to the location of the file? For me, it doesn't seem to be a huge problem. Something more. I can probably download the image to a location in Sharepoint, and then set the path to the image in the XML file.

    But I would like to hear the experiences of those who have used image files in their LiveCycle Forms.

  • Cannot combine individual pdf files from the pdf form template

    I am combining 250 individual pdf files which were all created from a pdf template. The model was created in the format of the form with areas of text that were completed by the user. However, when I try to combine the pages, all the text on each page converts the text on the first page inserted. Someone at - there a solution to this problem.

    Flatten the file before combining.

  • Can I send a JPEG file in a PDF form?

    After scanning, my files have been saved as JPEG and I need to send in PDF format to make them more clear.

    JPEG can be much clearer than the PDF if you want to decrease the value of compression (that is, scanning dots per inch than) when you scan.  See the documentation for your scanner on how to do it.  You will not be able to increase the resolution by converting a JPEG to PDF format.  Only if you would rescan you be able to increase the resolution.

    I can extract data from a PDF file that is not signed, but how to extract data from a signed PDF? Exporting data option does not work once it is signed. Specifically, I want to combine the data into a csv file, but a PDF signed does not to me.

    Hi evanb92625060,

    It is not possible to extract (using Acrobat |) Collection and management of the PDF to form data) data from a signed PDF form is that it locks all fields in the form.

  • 'Attach source file' does not work in Acrobat PDFMaker XI of the word 2013?

    I'm used to define the parameters of PDFMaker Conversion from Word to attach source file to the PDF output. It makes it much easier to open the Word document source and modify it if necessary.

    However, in Acrobat Pro XI & Word 2013, I can't make it work. I move to the word-> Acrobat tab, click on create an Adobe PDF file-> Preferences, then check that the "Attach a source file" is checked. but the PDF output does not seem to meet up with the source of attached file. I realize that I can attach it manually after the conversion, but with Acrobat 9 and Word 2007 it attaches automatically during the conversion (as far as I had put the option).

    Am I missing something? Or has something broken in the combination of Word 2013 + Acrobat XI?

    Simon.

    Just gave it a try (2013 Word and Acrobat Pro XI).
    Once I got my PDF output I clicked on the 'trombone' in the left Navigation pane to open the attachments Panel and the Word DOCX source file was present.

    Be well...

  • Attach a file after having signed the form

    Hello

    In my form there are two signatures. By signing the first signature field is all of the above areas it oneself. Then I have the attchments sections below, it is the second signature field. But if I sign the first signature field does not have the attachment (import data object). I know that it is clearly manipulation with pdf file after the form is signed. I handled the exception and he said: ' not allowed error: security settings prevent access to this property or method ". But stil, l there is no work around through which I can reach this requirement of the company? Help, please!

    Hello

    I did this as well and I couldn't find a solution. Once that form is signed the process of attaching a file seems to be considered too much of a change.

    For a form we have dropped digital signatures and went with a less secure/robust method to indicate that a section was signed, just so that we can maintain the ability to attach files during the process of the form.

    I'm afraid it's one or the other - digital signature or attach files.

    Good luck

  • Attach a file to a form... Make sure you set folder visible when you open a saved PDF form.

    Hello

    In the GN (Government of Nunavut, Canada), they do not use the forms in the traditional way (i.e. using a "submit" button and the pipes in an attachment XML data). They all have Acrobat Standard and save the entire form, and then it emailing to the authority that has to send it to operations, Project Office, etc.

    When they attach a file, the Panel attachments shows the attachment on the left. However, when they open the form saved, the attachments Panel only opens when they click on the paper clip.

    Question:

    Is it possible to save the form so that the accessory Panel always open if there is an attached file? (I mean like on a PDF file where you can put the properties to open the Page, bookmark or Page and Page view.)

    OR

    Is there a way to display an attachment in the form of a thumbnail or icon beside the button "Attach a file" as soon as it is attached?

    Thank you!

    Lisa

    You must change the script in JavaScript as a language your currently using FormCalc.

    Click your button and change the language in the script editor.

  • try to sign a pdf form on an Android tablet - can see the icon of the sign, but gray - why?

    PDF form fields - signature field does NOT work. Tried the same forms on iPhone and iPad - they work fine. Can see the icon 'sign' in the drop-down list of observations, but it is grayed out - why?

    On android devices, open the file in Acrobat Reader DC app. Then click on observer at the top left. Since the navigation panel, select the fill & sign and sign the document by typing in the location desired on the document.

    On android devices it will not show the Signature field.

  • prevent changes to signed and sent the PDF form

    Hello world!

    I hope you can help me. Please excuse any poor English and also all false translations of Acrobat buttons / functions since my Acrobat is in German I don't know the correct English terms.

    [Win7, Acrobat XI]

    I created a PDF form (w / InDesign).

    "I added the 'Send form' action [Formular senden] in Acrobat by using the 'Edit form tools' then right click on the word > properties > actions.

    A user can complete and sign before you send the whole PDF for me.

    When I receive the complete PDF I see all completed the fields and signatures, BUT I can also edit all the fields of the signed PDF.

    How can I prevent the PDF form signed being changed by the receiving person?

    Thank you very much.

    Ben

    Hi ben.beispiel,

    Right-click on the signature field. Go to the tab "Signed" in the "Digital Signature Properties" dialog box. The option 'Mark read-only' as shown below:

    This will avoid editing the PDF file that is signed by the recipient.

  • Incorporating a completed PDF form as an attachment to an e-mail PDF

    Is it possible to integrate a completed PDF form as an attachment to an e-mail PDF? The actors presenting the PDF can have Adobe Reader. I created a form, originally with Acrobat Pro 9.0, and then opened in LiveCycle Designer and added a button to send with the embed PDF option. It works fine for me, but not for someone else who tested it for me. Maybe because they don't have LiveCycle themselves? I read in some older forums on this issue and am rather confused as to whether it is still feasible for extraction of information from the general public. I am a newbie to forms and LiveCycle, sorry. I have a client who really wants a form is submitted in this way and I don't know what to tell them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

    First of all, you really have the wrong forum.  PDF Generator is the product side server that converts native files (Word, Excel, AutoCAD) in PDF.  You probably want the LiveCycle Designer forum.

    Second, if you saved the file in LiveCycle Designer in PDF (as opposed to an XDP) then others will be able to open it as long as they have the free player.  To submit the data, however, you will need reader to extend the form.

    Reader Extensions will allow users with the player free to do the things that they would normally require the complete to make Acrobat product.

    You can apply Reader Extensions is using Acrobat (open your completed PDF and add them) or with the server, LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES product.  The main difference is the license (I think that Adobe limited users of Acrobat to 500 of the form).  The product side server has also some extensions that are not available with Acrobat.

  • Submit the form as XML / rename attachment XML file

    Hello

    I use the script or send a form:

    var Mailto = " " [email protected] "; "
    var mySubject = "this is the subject";
    var myMessage = "Thank you find attached my folder.";

    var email = ' mailto: ' + Mailto + '? Object ="+ mySubject + '& Body =' + myMessage;

    event.target.submitForm({)
    cURL: Mail,.
    bEmpty: true,
    cSubmitAs: 'XML '.
    });

    Unfortunately, I can't change the name of the attached XML file. It's the name of the PDF file automatically.

    Someone at - it an idea how to change the name of the attachment?

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards

    ra_be

    The attachment file name will always be the name of the PDF file. The only way to change is to save the PDF file under a different name before send you it.
