accidentally credited the poster of evil with a solution, how can I change?
So, this is my third post to this community. My first post asked for a solution to a problem I had. My second post was to thank the poster who provided the solution, and then click the correct answer in the box of the poster. At least that is what I thought I did. However my second post has now determined in the thread that the post correct answer. Shortly after, I received a private message the poster who correctly answered to my question, angry with me to credit me instead of the correct poster for having responded to the question. How can I fix this error? I have checked and don't see any obvious way to cancel my previous answer mouse click.
You can not fix it. Once the post is marked solved and points to be awarded, it cannot be changed. It was a good faith mistake. Don't worry about this.

Recently, I posted a question that caused of Zenos to answer. I tried to answer this question and have no idea if I used the system correctly - it seems that if I replied to myself! I can't work on how to manage screens etc. Does anyone have a simple guide to how it all works, how answer/reply, which means different boxes of... It seems not particularly intuitive. Or maybe it's me?

I explore what I need to do to upgrade my imac. My current OS is x version 10.5.8. I read the posts on this site advises users to buy 10.6 (Snow leopard) and then upgrade more far away. Since I was only 1 GB of memory, do I need additional memory installed first? Is this possible? I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz processor and 1 GB of memory. My Info says memory I have 1 Bank empty. Thanks for any help!
You need to install more RAM before moving to Snow Leopard and need to do before moving to Lion or newer. Buy it from a source OWC or Crucial.

If the MESSAGE cannot be passed correctly, it means that something is broken on the motherboard.
Have you checked RAM?Faulty or incompatible RAM can cause this problem but it s just a suggestion
PS: what about CPU? Is it compatible with the new card mother and chipset?

Have you seen other error messages or notifications?You said that you can boot from the CD. Have you checked if you boot the Linux Live disk?
This doesn t require installation on the HARD disk, theoretically you should be able to start the distribution of Linux.

Stuck at the screen of the POST - R500
I have a R500 that one of my users has me just. It is stuck on the screen of the POST (ThinkPad splash) and does not respond to any keys pressed. I tried holding down the blue button "ThinkVantage" while turning on and still no response.
I pulled the hard drive and plugged into another machine to be excluded as a possible problem. Which works very well. It seems that the system must be suspended during any of these POST I can't even access the start menu or the BIOS settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated so that I can get this user online.
A quick search on Google and I've already found my solution. A broken USB port is to blame. Looks like it's a problem on early model R series machines. Here is a link to the post where I found my solution.

T61 issue of Fan: turns silently to the POST, and then never...
All,
Any thoughts on what is happening here?
I have a T61 with a 15.4 screen "and the Intel video subsystem. After about 10 minutes of operation under Windows, the system shuts down, and after that my wife brought this to my attention, I have observed that there is no flow of air coming out of the vent and the underside of the computer is very very hot. Fan death, right?
So, I open the T61 upward, leaving the trackpad and keyboard connected and turn on, hoping to check a fan of bad/loud/clogged. Well, the fan starts spinning at the POST and it does so freely and so in silence, and after a few seconds, it turns down, never to go back to the top.
There is no error message FAN ERROR on the screen at the POSITION either.
This seems to be more a problem of controller fan than a problem real fan.
Someone at - it advice or ideas?
My gut reaction is that simply replace the fan will translate the new fan does exactly the same thing, but maybe someone can put me straight or share their experiences similar here with me.

Turn down the fan after POST is normal, but it should turn on again during or after startup.
Please check the fan side, if they are blocked by dust. Block the propeller fan with a match or tooth-pick and blow compressed air from the outside through the sides into the heat sink.
You should also take a look under the radiator and replace the thermal paste on the processor by a new. You can leave the thermal pads if they are not damaged.
