• Connection of several projects within a SCORM compatible LMS

  I'm close to here, but I don't quite get what I want. I hope someone can point to the "easy way" to do...

  I create a single course which is composed of several Captivate 5 projects. The user is branched to different projects along the way, based on the answers to the embedded questions (e.g. pass/fail a test). In the final project, I have a post-test. It is the only one to send a score to the LMS.

  So let's simplify by an example:

  • The user enters the Module 1 and takes a pre-test.
  • If they go with a certain score, they go to Module 3. If they fail, they go to Module 2.
  • If they are sent to the Module 2, they go to Module 3, when they have completed it.
  • In Module 3, they take a post-test and this score is recorded.

  It is easy to run this script on my desk. In a SCORM environment is taxing my brain.

  Currently, I publish each Module as its own SCO, keep the course ID and consistent title between them.

  I tried to use the Multi-SCO mode, but causes the entries in my LMS for Module 1, 2 and 3 separately. Not what I want.

  I tried to move the folders for Modules 2 and 3 to make subfolders of Module 1. This seems to work (I get an entry point of course, Module 1, and I'm dating the exact score of Module 3), however by examining the LMS reports, this translates into a figure artificially high "# access." The reason seems obvious: whenever I load the Module 1 is access, and then when I branch to Module 3, is another access, because really I'm reloading the page with a new module and manifest SCORM, right? In addition, I am a little worried that this kind of gerry-rig will break something.

  I don't really want to use the aggregator, because I don't want a table of contents - they should not have the ability to jump directly to Module 2, for example - but I tried it anyway. And I found that even if I can get it to flow the way I want to, I can't understand how to package the project aggregated in a SCORM manifest.

  There must be a way to do it. What Miss me? Is there something obvious that I'm not considering?

  Just to update anyone interested... I thought about it. As suggested, I had change the imsmanifest using the RELOAD file. Turns out to be easy enough, after a few annoying error.

• When I have bad weather I lose my connection several times

  When there is a storm passing (on me or nearby) I lose my connection several times during the storm. I have Verizon DSL. Military have been repeatedly here, check my connections, connections to the outside on the poles, but never nailed the problem. They even ran a direct homerun to my DSL router/modem. Also during the game (UT2K4) my ping shot up to 988 several times. It gets very frustrating, especially when Verizon can't find something wrong. I'm the only one on this line. I have DishNetwork hooked to a modem, I think it is called Sling. Wi - Fi from the receiver to the Slingbox, then the Ethernet cable to a router/modem. May - so that it affects my ping? The router/modem would be bad? It's a westell 327W. I have a connection of Meg 7.

  If you connect your PC to your router/DSL modem via a wired connection and disconnect all other devices (wired & wireless), it would help narrow down if the problem is with your DSL service for your home or something in the configuration of your home. If your connection is OK like this, add devices to your LAN setup one-at-a-time to try to work out which one is causing the problem.

  I was wondering, now that I discovered the benefits of eating of the resource, if it would be possible to have 2 shared resources, a local with common themes and images for several projects and another one, remote, containing projects together, i.e. the subjects and images, for collaboration purposes.

  The only local, I intend to use it for my purposes to have common points (topics & photos) update of all projects where they appear and the distance that I intend to use it with remote colleagues, who might want to make changes in the topics.

  This would mean that the topics and current photos will be present in the resources, one local as one remote.

  SVN is not a source control package?

  I'm not sure, but RoboHelp * MAY * be able to integrate with SVN to control projects and sharing.

  RoboHelp comes with RoboSource Control that could be used to provide the source code control. But if you already have a package in place, my thought is why reinvent the wheel? Simply use what is there.

  In the package where the VO is defined, there should be a file server.xml file that contains all the BC4J objects. You can then add this file to your project in JDeveloper and it will add all the your defined in the file.

  I need my NAS (Synology DS415 +) to be double connection due to the fact that I use an ethernet port to connect to the router (so he gets the WiFi connection that is needed for the office camera) and another port to the wire to the iMac, which is my main editing station (Adobe Premiere). How can I check which connection my iMac using right now? Is there a way to force my iMac to use wired instead of WiFi? There is a big difference when you have all of the media files you use when editing on the NAS (speed cable > wifi speed)

• Best way to connect several hard disks

  HI - since getting my new Mac Pro, I worked with two hard drives of 12 to promised Pegasus 2 Raid-5.  They have been great.  But my video player started to get crazy and so I bought two backup drives WD - 8 to, one to save the key on each PP2 files.  Unfortunately, it was too late to save the video player, as one of the bays failed.  Because it's Raid-5 and with the amazing and patient Vincent promise eSupport, I replaced the failed drive Bay and am now waiting while he rebuilds (if all goes well, without any loss of data).  Then it will get saved.

  Until it became clear that a bad drive Bay was probably underlying computer freezing, loss of images in video playback, etc., I was wondering if there was some sort of best practices for fixing of external drives.  With Thunderbolt, you can chain; But what to what?  Is there a limit any?  Can I plug two disks promise, then the one closest to you on the computer?  Must the WDs be connected in the same way, each to each, and the other to the computer?  Should there be just a Garland of four disks?   ????   In the old days, you had to look at how much energy was used during the USB and Firewire connection, but the true even for love at first sight?

  Surely you'd be recognizing any indication on how best to connect several hard disks.

  There are 3 unique bus in the Mac Pro black cylinder. Better reactivity is with your readers spread between three buses, keeping in mind that video display takes nearly half a ThunderBolt Bus itself.

  You can use USB-3 for your backup drives - just keep in mind, it is only a sufficient bandwidth behind the USB to operate a chain of reading and writing of full tilt. If you simultaneously use devices more than that, you can start to see some cuts of your maximum transfer rate.

  Packer of Multi-SCORM of Captivate is purely for the Captivate content and it usually must be created by a specific version of Captivate to be compatible with a specific version of the package manager application.  So, the answer is very probably not.
