Change of Manager default PDF reader to office?

Hello

I have a new desktop computer Windows 8.1 and I somehow the tactile version of the reader and the Reader desktop version on my computer.  It's Ok except that most of the time I prefer to have my documents opens in the desktop version and they all open in the touch version.

I tried to go to the preferences. General and selected "select Default PDF Handler", but that did not help.  Are there other options?

Thanks in advance,

Linn

  • I have 10 windows and want to drive DC my default PDF reader.  Even if I put it by default, Windows insists on the use of E (new browser) when I try to open a .pdf file.  How can I force Windows to accept the default player?

The caption explains my problem, that started after the recent update of Windows 10.  Even if the reader asks if I want to make the default value, and even if I click on Yes and then agree that drive to make changes to my computer (probably the registry), the next time I try to open a .pdf file comes from the browser.  In addition, when I open the drive I can't find a way to open a file in it, which leaves me stuck with the browser rather than drive for all the .pdf files.  What can I do?

    Hi robertb98559829,

If in the case where it does not drive as default value when the application of the parameters of the application, then we need to change the default OS property values.

Since scrolling list file Type down to the type of PDF file.

Click on it to select it.

Click the Change program button at the top right

On the next dialog box, select Adobe Acrobat Reader and click OK

    Then close

Now, try to open a PDF by double clicking on it.

I would like to know if it works.

  • After installing the reader XI, why Acrobat cannot be set as the default PDF Manager?

I tried everything I know, including a clean boot.  Whenever I try to open PDFs with Acrobat (Version 8.3.1) Win7, it restores the reader XI.

From the inside of the drive/preferences/general/Select Default PDF Handler, reader XI is the only option.  Acrobat is not listed.

Unfortunately there are no post option with Acrobat 8 installation to change the PDF property. However, it is possbile Acrobat 10 go. But yYou can choose to make the XI Manager default PDF reader during the installation itself.

    1. go in Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs, select the entry "Adobe Reader XI" and uninstall it.

    2. then visit the link: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and choose the drive you need.

3 when you double-click on the EXE file, then a screen will be showing the extraction of files. At the end of the extraction installation will start and you will be presented with the following screen:

  • Links hypertext files open with Pro even if the player is default PDF application

    Hello.

I have a Windows 2008 Server x 64 I installed Adobe Pro X and Adobe Reader X on. I installed Pro first, then the reader, both with MST files, so that the reader is the default PDF reader. Drive indicates that the default program and if you double-click a PDF document, Reader opens indeed. However, if a hyperlink in Word or some other points of the document to a PDF, Adobe Pro file opens instead. I need to drive the default application for all references to the PDF files, but I have to keep Pro and Reader installed on the server at the same time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Now, it is English so that the problem has been supported. I also had to disable the protected mode to resolve the outstanding issues. Seems ok now.

  • Issues of implementation by default for PDF Reader and Acrobat is installed

    Hello

I hope that it will be a pretty simple question to solve if there will be a solution or it be the case that Acrobat and Reader have this conflict and that is like that.

I will describe my situation and what I am trying to accomplish the first.  I sometimes need to modify forms on PDF files so I need Acrobat installed.  I also need the ability to preview the PDF file in Windows Explorer (I don't have to wait and open Acrobat/Reader whenever I want to check a PDF of sense).  Unfortunately, for some reason, install Acrobat does not give me the preview function.  I need to install Reader for viewing work.  Well now, I need to print PDF forms but with the form fields * only *.  Unfortunately here again player does not have this feature.  I use Acrobat to do this.

In summary, I need reader to see a preview of a PDF file in Explorer and Acrobat to change forms and print PDF files with the fields of the form only.  So, I use that drive for the preview function; It is never actually opened.  However, Reader takes upon himself to make the default program for PDF files, which means that I have to 'Open with' on every single PDF, I want to open and print.  Acrobat refuses to let be the default program.  If I try to change it to Acrobat, it simply returns to the player.  I have to be able to use Acrobat as a PDF Viewer by default as the player is installed.  I refuse to believe there is not at least a setting somewhere where I can register * force * windows only use the .exe in the Acrobat folder when I try to open a PDF file.  That's what I'll get for now this post gets visibility.

Thanks for any help on this.

I FIXED IT!  So first I tried to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro.  Oddly, this broke the PDF preview.  The preview works through Reader, I didn't, but whatever.  Reinstalled Acrobat 9, has not changed the situation.  I've uninstalled reader XI and installed the X drive instead.  NOW it allows me to choose what I want to manage PDF files when I press this button in the general tab of preferences in Reader.  It was certainly a lot more under the hood than to change a program by default because it took a minute to finish.

After you open a Times Reader X, preview began working again and now he recognizes my desire to use Acrobat to open a PDF file and works fine.  I don't know if it's a problem with the drive XI or a question seeks to use it and Acrobat 9, but they do not work well together.

  • Many of our users cannot open PDF files.  You must select the player as the default PDF Manager once a day.

What was once a rare problem, became a chronic problem, because some changes to group policy by an administrator of AD.  We have disabled all GPs that relate to Acrobat, but we'll still have to connect to workstations users to remember that it is the default manager of PDF in Acrobat Reader (found under Edit > Preferences > General.)

As I mentioned above, this was happening from time to time, and I don't really know why.  We use 9.5, X and XI versions, and each of them have exposed this problem in the past and currently.  If we could find a whole network solution to this question (rather than having to connect to dozens of individual work stations every day), we would be really happy.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

We believe that we have found the answer.  Apparently an admin six years ago had created a batch file named ironically called 'Adobe Fix.bat', who calls a login script to set the following registry key on each computer:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe]

    "@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Reader 8.0\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe\"

Since C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Reader 8.0\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe no longer exists on any computer, no PDF files would be the load until you said Acrobat what software to use to open.

Remove this script should solve the problem.

  • changing default pdf opener

Recently, when I update Adobe Acrobat Reader over-anxious need to have elected it opens default pdf files.

I want to return to the preview as the default opening of pdf files (without having to think about using 'Open with' option) - but can find no way back (in the preferences of preview for example)

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

Go to your Finder and under the section Documents click on any PDF document. Then click on CTL and I have to open the details pane. On this pane, you will see an option to "open with". Click on that, and in the drop-down list, select Preview. Once you have selected an excerpt, the right button below that says "Replace all" should be active - click on that to change the default to preview.

    See you soon,.

  • Change default pdf to OpenOffice Viewer?

How can I change the default pdf viewer?  I have pdf to go, but QuickOffice is the default display.  Quickoffice does not appear in applications, then how do you change it?

Menu - settings - Applications - manage Applications.

Get QuickOffice, tap, scroll to the bottom and where it says, ' Start by default ' hit 'clear default values.'

    EDIT:

You will need to go to 'Filter' and select 'All' to QuickOffice appears.

The next time you open a PDF file, it should offer the option that you want to use, and you can check the box that says: 'Always use this app' when you select PDF To Go.
