Connecting to an oracle SQLPlus database

I am trying to connect from a Server CentOS with SQLPlus installed on another server with Oracle installed CentOS.

I installed
Oracle-instantclient-basic - 11.1.0.1 - 1.i386.rpm
and
Oracle-instantclient-sqlplus - 11.1.0.1 - 1.i386.rpm
on the first server.

I am able to connect to the server via SQL Developer oracle without difficulties.

When I try to connect to it via the command line with SQLPlus, I execute the following:

sqlplus savantdb@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl

But all I get in return is something that reads like the help documentation.

I exported the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to /usr/lib/oracle/11.1.0.1/client/lib/:/lib
I created a file tnsnames.ora in my home directory that contains the following:

ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS =
(PROTOCOL = tcp)
(HOST = drax)
(PORT = 1521)
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
)
)

Then I tried moving my home directory and operating

sqlplus savantdb@orcl

It asks for a password, and then throws the following error:
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

Then request a username/password name, after which it throws the following error:
ERROR:
ORA-12162: TNS service name: net is incorrectly specified

I want to do is allow my writings in PHPUnit and selenium to make calls shell_exec to execute sql files to recreate the database from scratch before the application to the test of unit tests. So I need to make it completely non-interactive.

Can someone give me an idea where I'm wrong here?

You mix different naming methods. Try to stick to one!

Your first attempt sqlplus savantdb@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl uses the method known as "easy connect".
It's actually not a bad idea, because it is rather short and does not require a "tnsnames.ora" file, which is a pain in the somewhere or other.

sqlplus has a parsing problem if you define the part of the string in double quotes. You can't find in the documentation, but in Metalink Note 274757.1.
The syntax is like this:

sqlplus savantdb@\"//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl\.

Your second attempt trying to use the TNS (local) method of naming, but for that you must have an environment variable pointing to the directory containing «tnsnames.ora» TNS_ADMIN It doesn't matter if this directory is the current directory or not. You don't need that if you use the method described above.

The last error message is because of the annoying behavior of sqlplus username and password (for a local connection!) ask once again if the first attempt failed.
You can avoid that by giving the flag - L sqlplus.

Yours,
Laurenz Albe

PS: If you want "to completely non-interactive" you must add a password, as
sqlplus savantdb/password@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl
"In this case, you don't need to add the------."

    Hello
    I'm working on an application of VB in which I use the ORAOLEDB. Driver Oracle to connect to my Oracle 10 g R2 server. My Oracle database connect in turn to a DB2 database via a database link. When I try to run stored procedures that contain simple PL/SQL queries, the connection works very well and recovers all data. However, when I try to run a CEP stored containing a reference cursor in it, I start to meet the following in the application error message:

    Hello

    I can miss the obvious here, but could you please post the code that creates a local transaction suggests? I'm not very familiar with the use of interop with VB ADO, but I guess there should be a con. BeginTrans in there somewhere as there is in VB6.

    Try something like this (can not compile, just coding top-of-my-head here)

    mcnnOBBT.BeginTrans
    Set rstTBK = cmdStoredProc.Execute

    If rstTBK.Fields("Book_Num").Value <= 1 Then

  • sqlplus to connect to remote oracle database server

    Hello

    I have the server database oracle 10g on solaris 10 and I usually connect using my account to solaris and run sqlplus on the server itself. This works!

    I downloaded and installed the client instant oracle for solaris 64 and I can launch sqlplus command but I'm confused on what should be the syntax of the command to connect to remote oracle and solaris 10 database server where I have the system account.

    I tried sqlplus help but still I could not correct syntax that may be used to authenticate to the oracle server.

    I tried

    sqlplus user@hostname:1512/SID

    then he asked for password, but when I typed the password and you press on enter, it gave some error

    but he still asked as username so I type user@SID and then prompt password - typed password and it works!

    so I do not understand what should be the correct syntax for that in the first attempt, I'm able to connect.

    If possible, please give the exact command with realworld examples, (I tried with sqlplus - help already)

    Thanks in advance.

    wonder what if I didn't tnsnames.ora on the client machine, how will be the syntax?

    You generally need (or at least strongly want) a file tnsnames.ora on the client machine.

    -You could configure Oracle Internet Directory and allow this product provide TNS alias resolution for the Organization (similar to the DNS configuration for a LAN).
    -Many tools (I have not personally tried SQL * more and it can be dependent on version) allow you to specify the whole TNS alias in the tnsnames.ora file (i.e. everything that follows the abcd.domain.com = entry) but which is extremely heavy for type
    -According to the version of the Oracle file sqlnet.ora, the complexity of your configuration client (that is, if you try to use the more advanced features such as failover), you may be able to use the syntax EZConnect

    sqlplus username/password@host:port:SID/service_name

    Where host is the server that the database is running, the port is the port the listener (i.e. 1521 default) listening and SID/service_name is the SID or service name, you are trying to connect to.

  • Connect to the Oracle database fails when you use Microsoft ODBC or OLE DB Driver

    There was a problem when you apply the KB3126587 hotfix where connections to an Oracle database using the Microsoft ODBC driver fails if run from automated processes. Running the same process manually would succeed. The update issued KB3147071 solved the problem successfully.

    Yesterday, several patched have been applied and the problem came back. The patches are: KB2862152, KB2868626, KB3163244, KB3168965, KB3170455, KB3163251.

    I saw yet no acknowledgement or difficulty of Microsoft. I prefer not to uninstall security patches, but it is a problem of production.

    Any ideas what specific patch maybe breaking it again?

    Thank you

  • To connect to an Oracle database using oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver: error

    Hello

    I am trying to connect to an Oracle database so that we can extract information on tables, views, and packages.

    Using the Data Modeler (transformation script) API, we will add these notes to the corresponding objects in the Data Modeler.

    I'll start with this:

    importPackage (java.lang);

    importPackage (java.awt);

    importPackage (java.sql);

    java.lang.Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");

    An error occurs when I run this code:

    test.png

    It must be something of Java...

    Someone at - it a suggestion?

    Problem solved! A colleague of mine referred to in this post: import def properties from Oracle Designer

    More in detail: it's this couple of lines:

    Copy the file ojdbc6.jar for... Directory of \datamodeler-home\jlib

    Add this line to datamodeler.conf

    AddJavaLibFile... /... /jlib/ojdbc6.jar

    I changed my file datamodeler.conf, DM rebooted and now is no longer an error when I try to use the Oracle JDBC drive.

  • How to connect to an Oracle database using acrobat form field java script actions

    I have a PDF template with buttons and form fields. One requirement is that when a key is pressed, I want to connect to an Oracle database to change the data of the table inside the DB.

    I wrote "Mouse Up" event and set a Java script to run on this event. Java script I am trying to connect to the DB and Transact on the DB.

    Any ideas how to achieve this.

    Thank you.

    Assuming you are using Acrobat (or reader) XI or newer, it is no longer possible.

    There used to be a way to connect to a PDF file using a script and ADBC, a DB defined locally, but Adobe removed in favour of this option progressively and now it is completely obsolete.

    The only type of PDF files that can still do are those created using LiveCycle Designer.

    The try section runs very well but only partially because you get the exception "ClassNotFoundException", which means that it is impossible to load the Oracle driver class (so it does not reach the line where it says):

    Class.forName(driverName);

    You intercept this exception and then simply print a line "could not find the database connection: null". Then you let the code continue, obviously without you still initialize your variables.

    I would recommend rewriting those catch blocks throw new RuntimeException so that the code will not continue any further when an error is detected in the try or don't catch not all of them if you donot want to manage them appropriately.

    As for your problem, you probably have not added the ojdbc14.jar is to your project, and this is why it cannot find the class OracleDriver.

    Finally, try adding {noformat}

    {noformat} around your code when you post code. It makes it a lot more readable.

  • Invalid connection for the Oracle 10 g Server

    Hello

    I installed Oracle 10 g server on my pc.

    I checked the Option to use the same user name and password for all accounts and used the password as an administrator

    But when I try to connect as sysdba or sysopera with admin as password it's displaying as connection not valid.

    Please tell me how I can connect to the Oracle database

    User for login names are SYS or SYSTEM. Try to connect as administrator system or admin/sys as sysdba.

    Which tool you use to connect? dbconsole, sqlplus? You should be able to connect with the authentication of the OS "/ as sysdba".

  • Test the connection to My Oracle Support fails

    Hello

    I am fairly new to cloud OEM control but can't seem to find the journal to solve this.  It seems that CC cannot talk about MOS of my server, even if I can wget and curl it directly from the server very well.  I am Setup-> Proxy Settings-> My Oracle Support.  I do not have a proxy between this server and the web, so I choose "Not of Proxy" and then click on the Test button.  It fails with:

    Unable to connect to My Oracle Support, using the URL "https://support.oracle.com". Check the proxy settings. Try using your web browser and has the same proxy settings, to test the URL "https://support.oracle.com". "" If you are still unable to connect, check the logs of WHO for more details about the failure.

    Can someone explain why this is happening, or give me a clue where the log would be?  I can't find all the newspapers recently under my location of $OMS_HOME.

    In addition, anyone know how CC manages the agents on different subnets?  In other words, my server will be connected to a network VLAN for Tomcat monitoring mechanism and also multihomed on a DB VLAN to monitor Oracle database instances.  If the server can communicate on these subnets OK, is there something I need to do in CC so that it recognizes these networks?

    Thank you!

    Thanks for the links of the document, which have been a great help.  It turns out that the issue was related to SSL and fixed by the workaround below:

  • connection to the oracle application express using java and jdbc

    Hello!

    I am trying to build a java application using jbcd to connect to my Oracle Application Express DB but unable to connect actually using the following syntax:

    Private final static String DB = "myworkspacename";

    Private final static String RUTA public = "@apex.oracle.com:1521";

    private public static final String URL = "jdbc: Slim:" + RUTA + "/" + DB;

    private static final String DRIVER = "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver";

    a USER private final static string = " " [email protected] "; "

    private final static String PASS = "MonMotpasse";

    and then I start the connection via:

    CONEX = DriverManager.getConnection(URL,USER,PASS);

    but finally I get the following error:

    IO error: the network adapter could not establish the connection

    any ideas on what goes wrong will be appreciated...

    Simple answer... YOU can't connect externally to the hosted instance of Oracle with a jdbc connection or sql developer/Toad.  Not allowed...

    If you need this capability, I would suggest downloading of Oracle 11 g XE and building you own database...

    Please describe in more detail what you are doing. You run scripts 2 or is it in a script? If you set the variables of Oracle in a separate script, you need to run the script.

    Source to run a script, the commands in the script are executed as if you type to the current command prompt. A script that is not executed source will lose the variables that you define in the script when the script stops. You can source run a script using the '. '. " script" or "source" (bash). The export command adds variables to the environment of the executed orders later.

    See the following examples:

    cat > shelltest <

    Test1:
    $ a=a
    $ ./shelltest

    $ echo $a

    Test2:
    $ export a=a

    Test3:
