Core service stopped without explanation or warning

We are on 5.4.2.228 - kernel running on a Windows 2008 64 bit server.

I logged on the server that is running the Basic Service this morning to find that the Basic Console would not upward.

I checked the services and the core service had ceased, several days ago...

The only explanation in the windows application event viewer was a .NET Framework unhandled exception that occurred one second before the core service stopped.

I opened a support ticket, but also hoped that someone in the community might be able to give advice on what we should do to make sure that we have warned when something like this happens.  We're not big enough to have a full time server administrator who knows all the tricks of the trade to monitor services that fail and create alerts.

I guess that's a little too expect AppAssure to have some kind of alert out when license servers stop get basic arrivals.

Hi Swbic,

The explanation above, I can assume that Dell-AppAssure core service crashed and no dump file of crash of the service that it is very difficult to determine what caused it.

As Dell-AppAssure main finished unexpectedly, he could not send any notification. The only way I see is to monitor the status of 'service' to the BONE. You can use scripts or software to monitor the status of the service and sent notification in case he is not in a State of "Running".

Thank you

Anton Kolomiiets.

    Hello

Yes, that sounds like an overheating problem.
If the internal temperature at a critical level then arises an internal sensor would stop the laptop to prevent material damage.

Please follow the advice and recommendations posted by blakcPox to prevent these overheating!

On the other hand, it may be a software problem, maybe the problem is related to the infection by the virus at the beginning
That is why a new operating system installation can be useful too

  • VMware Tools Core Service has stopped working

Until I installed Mavericks one a few days ago, my MacBook Pro OS x 10.6.8 and was very happy merger 3.x.x running with a guest of Windows 7 Professional.

After installation of Mavericks, I downloaded and installed the 6.01 merger. He "upgraded" my existing comments.

Since then, he threw several times the error message "VMware Tools Core Service has stopped working".

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times VMware tools. I ticked the box "prevent the NAP app." I have restored the old guest VM from a backup and it opens again.

I can restart the service (using Windows 7 services Manager), but it runs for awhile then throws the same error.

I've included dumpsters of screen of the info box - he appoints MSVCR90.dll as module faults. Out of curiosity, I looked at the control panel / uninstall programs screen and saw that that day, I installed Fusion 6.01, an instance of the 2008 C++ Runtime Redistributable x 64 has been installed (there are several other flavors of the VC ++ redistributable installed too: 2005/2008/2010, some x 86 and some x 64.)

Thank you for any advice on how I can solve this problem.

Try this one, bar menu of Fusion--> virtual machine > settings > default applications uncheck just the first option 'open files your Mac and links using Windows web applications '.

Then restart the virtual machine, I got rid of vmware tools crashing this way! This was suggested by the vmware technical support team.

TIP: Read the Symptoms section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973688.

Note that KB973688 is NOT a security update.

    (1) do you have an installed application that "uses Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) to process XHTML files" and (2) that "generates a lot of requests when it tries to retrieve well known from the definition of the Type of Document (DTD) from a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web server files" and (3) to "these redundant retrieval requests cause the W3C Server block requests DTD?

If you can't answer YES to all three of these conditions, you do not need to install KB973688 and you can "hide"

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator >
    (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

3 start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update: Select the installed updates: right click on the Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) | Click hide update | Confirm the prompt UAC (User Account Control), if any, & OK your way out.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

    =====================================
To restore/show updates in Win7: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install. Click restore. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.

  • KB931125 - update certificate root & update KB973685 - XML Core Services.

    Hello

Is could someone please tell me if I need to install KB931125 - update root certificates. I'm confused you see.

Looking at information I can find about this implementation updated seems to suggest that it could be applied to people who run IE7. I am running Win XP Pro SP3 and IE8 and so not sure I need it or not.

    Another question:
I found an update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 SP3 (KB973685) but have also heard that it can cause problems with the synchronization of time after installation. It seems ZA Security Suite with firewall havoc. Could someone please tell me if:

    (a) the update causing problems in some cases.
    and, if any
    (b) has a different version that corrects the problem that is deployed or is there a workaround?

Answers would be appreciated - particularly on the issue of XML as seems to be important for the security.

    Thanks in advance...

    Cliff. Cliff Rigg

A1. Yes, you should always install an update of the available root certificates to enjoy enhanced security of IE8.

Updates of root certificates come out every 2-3 months. While the updates of root certificates are installed automatically in Vista and Win7, Windows XP users must install manually via the Windows Update (CUSTOM scan) Web site.

A2. KB973685 is not a security update. If you (1) do NOT have an installed application that uses Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) to treat the XHTML files and (2) that generates a lot of requests when it attempts to retrieve the definition files of Type of Document (DTD) well known to a Server Web World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and (3) these redundant retrieval requests cause the W3C Server block requests DTD you do NOT need to install KB973685 (IMHO).

Is Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64 (KB973688) and the Net Framework the same systems? I'm unable to install 973688 KB.  The answer that I got mentions not this particular update or anything referring to XML? As the indications I got very involved, I want to make sure that I get the correct repair info, so I do not inadvertently make worse it.
    Thank you
