Dell DM061 updated?

Hello

I am a newbie to Dell Community. I have an old DM061 Dell (Intel Core 2 4400 @ 2.00 GHz) with 2 GB of RAM. I wonder:

  • What is the maximum RAM that will accept this machine? (x 2)?
  • number of readers you can install? What are the physical limits? I want to reuse it as a home server.

I understand that some of this information is available on the fact sheets. But I've seen on these forums that what is actually possible sometimes surprises.

The search for wisdom of the Dell Community.

Thank you

The [Dimension E520] DM061 supports a maximum of 8 GB of DDR2 memory [4 x 2 GB modules], but use 8 GB you need a 64-bit operating system.

http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/dimension-E520

Maximum drives supported by the motherboard, are 4 x SATA drives, usually of hard drives 2 x 3.5 "[max 2 TB each] and 2 x 5.25" optical drives.

  • DELL, please update AMD video driver

    Hi, Dell.

My laptop is Dell 3537 with 8850 M graphics from AMD.

Update the driver for the windows of 8850M AMD 8.1, because the driver on the site is very old and gives a little FPS in games and AMD driver (13.12/13.11) causes problems with the mode 'sleep' and the screen turns off: the screen turns black and does not illuminate.

I found the solution in an older topic. I couldn't believe that it works. Now I know where is the problem.

!!! LATEST INTEL DRIVER (10.18.10.3308, A01) VIDEO DOES NOT WORK WITH THE LATEST DRIVER AMD (13.151.0.0, A00) - IT IS A PROBLEM FOR WHICH HD8850M DOES NOT WORK!

Here are my instructions changed to Perrygogas:

    1. upgrade the BIOS A06.

2 download (do not install again) drivers for Windows 8.1 DELL (not manufacturers) of the x 2 and x 2 Chipset site are displayed. The ones of the image as an attachment. All the drivers are the latest version expect for the Intel video driver - you have to download the PREVIOUS VERSION (10.18.10.3277, A00), that works perfectly.

3 uninstall the Intel video driver and all AMD Catalyst software. You can use "Display Driver Uninstaller" in safe MODE - it is really good, simple and free program.

    4 reboot the laptop.

    5. install all the drivers EXCEPT for VIDEO_AMD - the first condition in the picture above.

    6. restart the laptop.

    7. check if the device of AMD is still uninstalled (in programs and features), otherwise proceed to step 3.

    8. install the driver "Video_AMD"... ». This is the driver for AMD Radeon 8800 M and above the first condition in the image.

    9 restart the laptop.

    10. graphic AMD should now work.

After failing to install after "Run as Administrator", I extracted each download to a temporary directory and tried to install from there.

EACH time the extracted file, "miniunz.exe", could not have reported a "system error" with the message

"The program can't start because zlibwapi.dll is missing on your computer.  Try to reinstall

the program to fix this problem. "See the attached file.

There is obviously something very basic is happening here and I would be acknowledging the help of forums.

It appears that if you download and select "run" (as opposed to "save under" & then run the saved file) these applications / drivers will install.

This OK for a work-around. However, he is not answering the question of the execution of a saved file.

  • Reference Dell 5520, updated to Windows 8, lost control of Wi - Fi

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15R model 5520 with Windows 7.  Everything worked well and I had a Wi - Fi access.

I've updated to Windows 8, but now I have no wireless access.  I opened the PC settings and confirmed that airplane Mode is disabled and Blue-tooth is turned on.  I have no other settings on this screen.  I have used the Fn & F2 keys and confirmed that the Wi - Fi light on the front of the laptop is off, and then turn it back on.

A wired connection works fine.  When I ran for a new network troubleshooting, no router is listed, even though I know that there are several routers available to my other laptop and my eReader devices.  How to access my Wi - Fi controls?

    Thank you.

It worked!  Now, I have Wi - Fi connection controls and can connect wirelessly to the internet.

Thank you very much.  You are the best.

  • Dell XBS430 updated.

    Hello world

I recently received a Dell XPS 430 desktop computer. I know it's old, but read on.
There is no RAM installed and no HARD drive.

Everything else seems OK. I tried not to turn on again. I know what will happen if I did.
At present, it has an ATI/AMD HD4850 video card / 512Mb installed.

I want to get this up and run again, simply because I now hit a brick wall with updates to my existing computer. (An alumna of card mother ASUS A8V Socket 939 and AGP slot). Yes, it's true, there are cave paintings inside. Despite his age that I ran Skyrim, Fall Out 3 and Bioshock on V-high settings, not quite to the maximum but I was happy with it. I've now upgraded to Win 8.1 and the old AGP Radeon X 1950 doesn't like it a bit (using drivers Win 7 is almost ideal).

So, my request is mainly about the video card.
Is it possible to upgrade to a card later? Possibly with 1 GB of memory.

And what about the memory. What I have to buy Dell memory or generic memory would be OK as long as it is put in matching pairs?

    Thanks in advance.

    Post-its Mick

With regard to the memory modules, you can install any compatible memory XPS430 and no, you don't have to buy RAM from Dell, but it is better to buy from a vendor who certifies the compatibility it is like, www.crucial.com

Most PCIe x 16 graphics card should fine, providing the default POWER supply allows, it not then you will need to supply to meet the needs of the new graphics card, also check the physical space required by the new card, against what is available in the package.

Note: The XPS 430 has a default 425w PSU

Alienware TactX KG900 & MG900 drivers and utilities update?

I'm looking everywhere for a software update for the Alienware TactX keyboard and mouse KG900 & MG900.   Later I see available online at Dell is the same as the original disk I have since September 2009 v1.0.51.0.

Looks like Dell would provide software updated with more features or capacity with profiles more preloaded for games today or simply able to to make it more user-friendly.  Its now 2011, and windows 7 64-bit is the norm these days.

We need a software update please.

No need to change the date, that's how long I had been looking for the new drivers/software update. Just because your 3 years later for a response and a response I've had for two years already. Find something else to do, your useless in that Department.

  • Has no updated BIOS - Dell XPS 8500

I went to the product page Dell for my computer - Dell XPS 8500 and ran the scan to check the updates.  3 updates, one of them for the BIOS.  I ran the update and launched the update of the BIOS.  To halfway through she seemed to have hung up and my machine froze.  I left for an hour, came back and no still no luck.

So I rebooted the machine, and of course now it does not start upward.  I have power and can hear the fan but no lights on the box and no input screen.

Looking in the manual and on this forum, I tried to reset the BIOS jumpers and remove the CMOS battery.  When I rebooted I saw lights on the box this time, but it stops after 30 seconds and now back to the same problem.

From what I've read on this forum I'm SOL unless I have buy a new motherboard.

Just thought I would check to see if anyone has any other suggestions.  If not, where can I get a new motherboard for this?  The product page for my model it does not list as an option...

    Thanks for your help!

    Jason

When your warranty has expired? If it has expired less than 6 months ago, you pourriez able to get Dell to solve this problem, assuming they can get the Board of Directors. They had a policy to replace a Board - only once - if she does not have a Dell BIOS update within 6 months after the end of the warranty. I don't know if this policy still exists.

Those are all different revisions of the same motherboard. I don't know what the differences are. They could be as simple as a different provider for one of the components on the card all the way to a change in the circuit layout.

Maybe Dell spare parts can talk you about the differences among the 3 or at least tell you which is the most recent revision, even if they do not have boards the...?

All three supports H77 chipset which is a key issue.

Look at your motherboard for the thumbnail see what version you have now. If you don't know the specific differences, you can get one that is the same version, assuming that it is one of the possible choices.

You should look elsewhere if the Impact is not the revision you want and/or for price comparisons. And always ask if the Board is new, used, refurbished and warranty.

Well, you can use a flash drive, if you have the OTG adapter for the Dell printer.

Or, more fun, you could consider installing Microsoft labs "Mouse without Borders" on your PC and on the Dell. This neat little program allows you to control the mouse and keyboard on another computer using your WiFi network, including dragging files from one device to the other.

  • Update the BIOS of powerage dell 2950 through an ESXi installation

I'm not sure of the best way to update the bios of a Dell 2950 powerage on which I have a facilities of ESXi 3.5 u2.

I have two virtual machines running.

Dell has a "Update Package for Microsoft® Windows®" (PE2900_BIOS_WIN_2.1.0.EXE) which, in my opinion, can update the bios from a windows OS.

I had to do some research, but I posted instructions on how to upgrade your Dell server running ESXi through records of SUU. Here are the instructions... I do before putting all servers in production, and after the shooting of any old material off the rack before stopping their production, never had a problem.

Here's my process to update ESXi (dell of course hardware) servers.

1 Download DVD Dell Software Update Utilitly, its 1.9 GB disc. (if you have a dvd player on your server, you can directly boot from this drive but if you had a CD player in your continuous server, or if you want to store the files of rep on a USB drive below eye).

    2. extract the contents of the iso (winrar), so a lot of my servers arrived with

just for the readers of CD so I take a USB stick and loading JUST the 'repository '.

folder from the disk update utility, which is about 1.2 GB of update

    files.

    3. then download the CD version of Dell Software Update Utility, it

will have all the updates for the DVD and dell does not have up-to-date

but that's fine, boot from that disk.

4 start the CD, to the start screen select Update utility, wait 15-20

"mins for linux to load, display, select Update ' updates are

Located on a usb drive ", put your USB key with the storage folder"

on it, then hit, which makes search updates, show what is necessary and

    You can update.

    5. install and start.
