internal hard drive for Inspiron 6000

Someone has any suggestions where to find a replacement 60 DH GB or more compatible HD?

The drive is parallel ATA - SATA not.  If you replace the drive with a larger than 120G, it MUST be parittioned and Windows must be installed UNDER the barrier of 120G.  If you install Windows on a partition that crosses or exceeds 120G barrier, you will one day put the chain on a disc read error and lose everything on the disc.

Is there a downside to the use of sata III? It is slower than sata II drives?

There are zero and no., lll SATA will work at speed he's SATA.

SATA I, is the first generation clocked at 1.5 Gbps SATA.

SATA II interface, is a second generation running at 3.0 GB/s SATA.

SATA III interface, a third generation of interface SATA 6.0 GB/s turns. The bandwidth rate, which is supported by the interface is up to 600 MB/s.

SATA II specifications provide backward compatibility of function on SATA channels.

SATA III Specifications provide backward compatibility to run on SATA I and SATA II ports.

However, the maximum speed of the disk will be slower because of lower speed limits of the port.

  • Adding 2nd hard drive for Inspiron 530

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 which has a Samsung 320 hard drive.  I would like to add a second hard drive to put photos, etc.  Green a Western Digital 2 TB 3.5 "SATA looks like a possibility.  However, images, like most of the internal drives I saw pictures, he has one open side showing the drive mechanism.  The Samsung already in the PC is covered.  The additional disc will not become covered with dust (my PC had a lot of cobwebs in it when I opened it to the top!)?  Any advice on which drive to choose and how to install it would also be appreciated.

    dellby

All computers must be inside the frame, cleaned all the dust on a regular basis.

I have two HD SATA and SSD installed in my Inspiron 530 mini tour and have never had a problem of "dust."

Keep the air intakes located on the façade behind the clean HD of any accumulation of dust, helps to cool the hard drives.

Will need you a SATA data cable, there should be a spare power connector SATA inside the case and four 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws to mount the drive.

Connect the SATA data cable to the SATA connector on the motherboard.

After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

For windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

Hard drives Western Digital and Seagate are good, my preference is for Western Digital.

Also check the length of the manufacturer's warranty, plus the best guarantee.

  • Add SimpleDrive external hard drive for Inspiron 9400

I use a drive external 250G hard SimpleTech SimpleDrive. I had plugged in a Dimension desktop computer and it works fine. I am abandoning the office and try to connect the external hard drive to my laptop Inspiron 9400. When I connect the drive via a usb cable, the disc sounds as if it's hunting and is never recognized by the laptop.  The external hard drive has its power supply on so I won't try to power it through the usb port. Thank you

Not in the way you probably do. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 50. Unlike the Envy 17 and Pavilion dv7, Pavilion 17 has that a single hard drive Bay. The only way to add a second hard drive is to remove the DVD (optical drive) and insert a DVD to the hard drive bay adapter. The manual shows how to remove the DVD player and you can buy the adapter at amazon.com or jacobsparts.com. Note that this is a 9.5 mm thick disc, not a 12.7 mm. Both types are available. I do not recommend the adapter DVD player solution because you lose the use of the optical drive, and also because the interface of optical drive is usually not as fast as the main hard drive interface. Always fast enough for simple storage and you can run a video of her, but you do not want to edit the video of this disc, for example.

If you decide to go the route of adapter DVD I would buy a large capacity 5400 RPM SATA 2.5 inches wide and drive hard thickness 9.5 mm. No sense in buying a reader more expensive high-performance.

There is room for an optical drive, which is totally alien to me, but nothing is said nowhere in the hardware in the user manual on the addition of second hard drive that seems to be a pretty normal material adding. No sense in this matter. First time forum thank you poster

Dell has not released the procedures to install an additional SATA hard drive, the Inspiron 3847 has a 3.5 Bay ", one for the second hard drive next to the main hard drive, there should be a set of rails located in the Bay, two 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws are required to secure the Rails.

Procedures on pages 26 to 28 of the owners manual should give you an idea of what is required for installation.

My main 320 HARD disk drive is approaching full and I want to add a second internal HDD.

My intention was to use the new drive as a secondary drive just to store and edit photos.

Can anyone recommend a compatible drive about 500 GB in size I can use.

Can you tell me if there a SATA drive that I need, recommended speed (RPM) and I'll need to get all the connectors etc.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice

Assuming you have the Inspiron 530 mini tour and not Slimline 530 s version.

You can install any SATA 3.5 "internal hard drive 7200 RPM up to 2 TB without problem.

Discover the brands Seagate and Western Digital, also check the length of the manufacturer's warranty, unfortunately hard drives prices are extremely high, due to the flooding of the Thailand, readers, I bought last September for $40 with a promo, now costs $108.

  • Inspiron 1545 - hard drive replacement, new drive SATA not found 'internal hard drive not found ".

    Hi all

I'm trying to install Win7 in an Inspiron 1545 with a new SATA hard drive that has been purchased. When I insert the disc, I get "Internal hard drive not found." I checked the drive does not appear in the BIOS, I already tried to reinstall the drive several times. In addition, I tried to load the chipset drivers, drivers SATA, etc. of the Dells, the Reader site still does not appear in the installation of the OS when starting on a DVD or in the bios.

I do not think that there is a problem with the new drive, I plugged the new drive in another Dell laptop model and it recognizes the drive in the BIOS, also I can always start on the previous in this laptop without problem hard drive when I plug it in.

Is there a specific driver, etc. should I use for the drive to be recognized or have other thoughts?

It's strange - either the new HDD has a rare compatibility with your embedded controller problem (I use a 500Gbyte in my 1545 no probs)) or it is a mechanical problem. I look at the physical dimensions and compare your original hdd by the new. Watch the video (even if it's on a 1525 (similar to a 1545) and a SSD hard drive)-go to 02:20

I installed a new hard drive for my dell Inspiron 1525 and try to install windows 7. He asks me to install the driver. How to do it

Using the Dell recovery disks to reinstall?

    The origonal drive failed?

If you are using a real MS win dvd during the first part of the installation it can not find a drive or ask a driver, then the driver is obtained from Dell, specific to your model, its likely the driver sata, you need to download to say a USB and then point to this file when the installation application the third-party driver.

  • iMac G5 won't internal hard drive boot

    Hello

I am a student at a vocational school student IST. The faculty member sent us old iMac G5 17 inch to set ourselves. After the repair of the motherboard, we had to install OS X 10.5 installation DVD, because the customer had erased his record for security purposes. However, the internal disk drive would not work, so we had to set the Open Firmware mode and start from a normal PC hard drive connected via a SATA-USB adapter cable. We got the OS installed and restart clicked on Setup, but the splash screen always appears as a folder missing OS. We tried to go into Open Firmware and setting the device on the hard disk, but it wouldn't boot. Other things we tried:

-Hold the "D" key on startup to force it to boot from the internal hard drive, but it could not start

-Optionally now to go to the menu boot device menu boot device froze after a few seconds

-Insert the 10.5 installation disc in our external DVD drive (as mentioned above) and launch the disk utility > startup disk to restart the iMac and the start of the internal player, but same result as previously (missing the OS icon)

At this point, both students that the instructor are almost of ideas, and I thought that post on the forums to see if there is anything else we can try before you buy another drive and charge the customer.

    Thank you in advance!

Disk utility to partition and format the drive.

    Boot from the installation disc:

Booting from an OS X install disc

    1. Insert the OS X installation disc into the optical drive.

    2 restart the computer.

    3. immediately after the ring, press and hold the C"" key.

4 release the button when the spinning gear under the Apple grey dark

    logo appears.

    5. wait for the installer to finish loading.

Once the installation program is loaded, select the country and click on the continue button. Wait for the menu bar of the screen to appear. Select utility drive in the Utilities menu. On the left should be a list of mounted drives. Select the entry of out-bumpy drive to the HARD disk (usually, watch mfgr. name and size or model number.) Click the Partition tab in the main window. Select 1 partition from the menu drop-down Partition scheme. Set the type of Format for Mac OS Extended journaled. Click on the apply button and wait for it to finish.

At the end of player preparation, you can quit disk utility and return to the installer. Proceed with the installation of Mac OS X by following the instructions.

If any of these categories can be completed due to HARD drive problems, then most likely the drive is dead. G5 models use standard 3.5 "SATA drives, I recall.

  • You are looking for an internal DVD drive for a Satellite Pro A40

    Hello

I'm looking for an internal DVD burner for a model Satellite Pro A40 2.88 Celeron with a currently installed CD-RW/DVD-Rom. My mother is the owner of this laptop and I want to upgrade the drive for her.

Does anyone here know of any number of model of the DVD-RW/CD-RW/DVD-Rom that is compatible with this model.

I want the drive to function as a DVD-Rom/CD-RW also because I do not want to lose these features. Swap the bezel above if necessary isn't a problem for me.

    Thank you

    Hello
For this particular model, I could not find another A40 Pro which has a DVD - RW, only DVD ROM. I also suggest to buy an external DVD - RW writer because an internal hard drive will cost much more. Probably triple what external there. External, you can find for about 50 but internal will cost at least about 90 more taxes. I'm sure it is internal that correspond to this machine, but at the moment I don't have the time to research each compatible model search of the car, it's why I suggest an external drive. I hope this helps.
