iPhoto hangs constantly

iPhoto comes up, I click on the photos or people and it crashes. I click open again, and she does again, immediately, over and over.

iMac computer version 10.8.5.   iPhoto version 9.4.3

I read a few posts from 2013, but maybe it's a more recent problem? (Of course it gives me a fright that my pictures can disappear in the wild blue yonder.)

A lot of older versions of iPhoto 11 this meet right now:

Huxly647 discovered this fix

1 goto /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources

2 delete the files 'googlemap.html' and googlesearch.html

IPhoto no longer crashes, site does not work, but it doesn't bother me too much.

And if you're worried about your photos endangered make a backup now.

Save the simplest:

Drag the iPhoto library to your folder on another drive. This will make a copy on this disc.

A bit more complex: Use an app that will do the differential back ups. It is a very good way of working. The first time you run the backup application will make a complete copy of the library. Subsequently it will update the back upward with the changes you have made. What does subsequent back ups much more quickly. Many of these applications also have capacity planning: set up and he'll do it back up automatically.

Example of these apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

    Hi guys,.

I hope someone can help me with this problem.

I have a big problem with my iMac (21.5 inch) end 2012. It crashes constantly, I can't even watch video YouTube 360 more or look at picture with low preview 500 KB.

My iMac freezes, crashes, won't start after 3 - 4 times or more. I did a hardware test, test etc. software but it says there is no problem with my iMac at all, everything works fine, he said. I have also reset and re - install my iMac 3 times, nothing is. I also sent my iMac to an Apple for 3 times (Amac, Netherlands) dealer, they also said that we cannot find something and your iMac works fine. My Mac blocks, so that may be the problem?

I have 850 GB of free space on 1.2 TB and if I look for if there is no problem with the serial number, I can't find anything. I have always updated my Mac to the latest version, but it seems it hangs longer after updates each time.

I have this problem every hour, but I'm not this technique that I can understand it.

I suspect that your graphics card is a failure, a competent service provider should be able to diagnose the problem. Have you tried to boot mode safe? Everything will be slower and some things don't work at all, but Safe Mode disables advanced graphics, if the panic stops in the safe is another indicator that the GPU is maybe defective. Try safe mode if your Mac does not commissioning - Apple Support

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • iPhoto hangs when starting the

iPhoto ceased to work and crashing on commissioning a few weeks ago. I want to run an update but have need access the imported photos and move them to an external. Can someone tell me why it can break or if there is a way to copy the images in iphoto without opening it?

iPhoto on Mt. Lion recently crashes frequently, you used the places feature in iPhoto. iPhoto crashes when executing Javascript code, which may be used to access the server for maps and location data.  Give it a try:

Disable your network and disconnect the mac.  If iPhoto then works again, you experience the problem that iPhoto crashes, because he can no longer access the servers of Google for maps and location data.  Apple has not renewed the contract with Google.

See this tip for the user:

iPhoto 9.4 crashing during playback of the scene

There are several ways to deal with this:

    • Upgrading to iPhoto if possible 9.6.1.  iPhoto 9.5.1 and newer versions use different map servers.
    • Working offline. If powering down of the network is preventing accidents, a confirm that the accidents are caused by the functionality of the site.
    • Deleting the html of the iPhoto application files, running the java code that attempts to access the servers of Google as suggested by Huxly647':

    See the solution of Huxly647:

Re: iPhoto crashes after opening several times in reply to carvermon Useful

I found a solution that works for me...

    1 goto /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources

    2 delete the files 'googlemap.html' and googlesearch.html

IPhoto no longer crashes, site does not work, but it doesn't bother me too much.

Let me know if it works for you guys...

Deletes two files "googlemap.html" and the googlesearch.html of iPhoto application bundle prevents the JavaScript running inside and causing the accident.  Log of course do the same thing. So it's pretty clear that something happened at the end of Google.

To access the files inside the iPhoto application select it in the Finder and ctrl-click on it. Then use the command "Show Package Contents" from the menu.  Open the content subfolder and then resources.

Do not try this fix without making a copy of the iPhoto application before trying to delete the two files of the entire application.

If you want to make the places feature working again, take a look at the post of cotton-x:

Cotton-x user posted a clever to patch the iPhoto application solution, so that it uses a private key to access Google's servers. The same fix works well for Aperture 3.4.5, and probably earlier versions of opening as well.  See this link if you want to try it.

Re: iPhoto 11 - problems with Photo locations

I've tested this in Aperture 3.4.5 and could view maps of land once again, who have much more detail than the new cards in the latest version 3.6 of Aperture.

  • Windows 7 photo viewer hangs constantly

Windows 7 photo viewer seems to have a bug that causes constantly crash with a message 'COM surrogate has stopped working ". I saw the other posts on this, but none that really addresses the problem in Photo Viewer, which is obviously a bug in Miscrosoft since this is a new computer with a new operating system of Windows Professional, and none of these problems has occurred in Windows Vista. Is nothing done about it?

I have corrected it finally. I've updated the Intel HD Graphics driver 4000 a 2012 version to the latest version of 2013 that will install on Windows 7, and the problem disappeared.

    CS 6, being day.

Running on an iMac 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7, ram 16 g, tones of scratch disk.

I've updated the CS6 group and everything now works peachy. I've been a user of adobe to the Spiderbeam to adobe.  I have 5 working Mac right now with different versions of PSD and HAVE two PPC ones and three Intel Macs.

I just got the last 3.4 iMac dual core i7 and own versions of CS 5.5 and then days later got the CS6 upgrade. I panicked when it kept crashing, not during use, but when you work in other programs. If all is good, thanks for the comments of Ben, Curt & Kendall.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro - hangs constantly

I'm having a problem with Acrobat, which seems to get worse; whenever I try to scan something my computer crashes.  I have to turn off my computer and restart, disconnect my scanner, restart the parser and try to rescan.  Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to repeat the process.

Today, I opened an e-mail with an attachment, .pdf and my computer locked up again. had to shut down my computer, restart, etc.

Have you checked for virii and spybots? Given that the problem started with your scanner, you could see if there is a more recent driver twain.

  • IPhoto unexpectedly quits when downloading project

    Hello

I was wondering if someone might have any suggestions? I'm trying to download a large number of photographs of a project of iphoto from Apple in order to get their approval.

I managed to create a few folders and download successfully, each of them containing about 100-150 photos.

I have a folder but with slightly more than 300 photos that iphoto is constantly crashing when you try to download. Details of payment and delivery are taken, the stars of the upload, getting 20-25% how the program closes unexpectedly.

I can't stand having to create a new folder, because once the photos are assigned to a project you can not copy, cut and paste, or divide it into a new folder (at least not that I can find)...

    Any help would be great.

    With many thanks,.

    Mr. Remi.

Is what type of project?  A photo book?  a calendar?

If iPhoto crashes while downloading one of the photos is may be damaged.

You can create a PDF of your project overview? If so, carefully check if the items have not been returned correctly:

See this link: Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto or Aperture to avoid problems - Apple Support

If iPhoto crashes when rendering the preview, try to isolate the element that is the cause of the crash.  It may be a corrupt photo or markers on a map.

To isolate the duplicate element in your project. Remove half of the copy of the project pages and try again to preview it. If this attempt is successful, the culprit is somewhere on the pages that you just removed. Now copy back the project and test it with the pages you have previously deleted. Remove half of the first half of the pages and test again, until you are themselves with a small set of pages that will crash when previewing. Test the photos on these pages if they can be changed.  If this is not the case, replace these photos by differnet photos.
