Multiline areas drop-down list or list box bound to the text box

Hello

I hope someone can help me, I am creating a form in adobe acrobat 9 STD and I am eager to have a list of names followed by their relevant details.

To explain my situation, I have a form that is sent (by mail) to our entrepreneurs, what I would do is to select a name of entrepreneurs from a list and then the coordinates (address, for example) automatically entered into the allocated space 'to '. I am under the impression that combo boxes cannot produce multiple lines if it is true I thought that perhaps a way around would be to create a drop-down list with the names of the contractors, and once a name is selected an automatic text box would generate details of the desired address. My JavaScript skills are rather absent and I wonder 1. If this is possible and 2. How?

Thanks in advance!

  • Data from the drop-down list box database

    Hello

    I'm trying to understand how to add information from a database to a drop-down list box. I read two columns, the first is used as the element and the second for the value. There are several lines in the table, and I need an entry for each. Currently, he adds only a single entry. The vi is attached.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hi again,

    Attach a VI... Is that what you mean?

  • channels drop-down list box

    I'm trying to get some combo boxes to have their entries populated by a text file. I have read many entries of forum on 'string []' property, but he refuses to work for me. I want the combo box is editable by changing the entries in a text file.

    Does anyone can beat this code into submission? I get this error message on a controller GPIB needing to be in charge.

    I've included the vi, the text file, I want to fill the combo box 'Version number' and that it should be.

    Tay

    You have several issues General, but here are the ones affecting your drop-down list box:

    1. In general, if you make copies of OR provided files, use new names.
    2. The VI you changed to read strings from the worksheet is bad DEFAULT.  You have the number of lines, by default 4 and start playback offset set by default to 132.  You get the error is because the file is not 132 bytes of data.  Definition of those to-1 and 0, repsectively will remove the error.  You should do this by opening the VI, change the value, then right-click and select "Data management"-> "Make current default value" for each of the two controls.
    3. Now, the VI you properly load the values in the file.
    4. There is no reason to replay the file whenever the user changes the value of the drop-down list box.  Read once at the beginning of the program.
  • Properly handle output drop-down list box

    A drop-down list box will display one of the two types of data.  If it finds the value entered on the roll control on front panel in the column of the strings in the array [] strings and values, it will display the cell value.  Otherwise, it will display the string.  So, if my array strings and values looks like this:

    Red, 0

    Yellow, 1

    Green, 2

    I enter 'Orange', then the drop-down list box "Orange."  If I get "Yellow", then the combo box returns "1" rather than "yellow."

    Is there any method to determine the behavior that controls used?

    In fact, the data type is always a string. The 'value' should be interpreted as a numeric by you. On the top of my head, there are 2 ways you can do this:

    • Use the search D table 1 to find the Strings of [] property to see if the ComboBox Text.Text property is in the list of channels. If the output of the function is - 1, then you know he has simply removed the chain.
    • You can use the decimal digit? function to see if the value is numeric.

    I don't know that there are others.

    Hello

    I try to make a drop-down list box, where it should be possible to choose multiple values at the same time. The list contains a lot of historical evidence, and I want to make a graph showing only the elect. Is it is it possible to define a bool for every item, which is false by default and can be changed to true, then the plot is illustrated in the chart?

  • Using Wizard of the Action to change the font in the drop-down list box

    Acrobat Pro DC on a MAC under OS X 10.11.6

    I have a form that is mainly created in Indesign (it works for us - I know that others prefer to locate forms purely in Acrobat).

    I have a script I can run through the wizard of the Action (run a javascript script) to change the font in all fields in text form. But being a novice script that I can not understand how to create a similar script that will change the font used by drop-down list boxes (created in Indesign). Is it possible by a script?

    I know I can do it manually through the properties, but if someone can give me a pointer to find a way to do it with a script that would be amazing!

    Thank you

    The script can be changed to:

    for (var i = 0; i)< numfields;="" i++)="">

    var f = getField (getNthFieldName (i));

    If (f.type = 'text' | f.type = "combobox") {}

    f.textFont = "Arial";

    f.textSize = "10";

    }

    }

    But now I have to ask, what are your reasons to use Arial instead of Helvetica?

  • Selection in the drop-down list box determines the text to display in another box - ideas?

    Hello, my name is Zac.  I spent a lot of time trying to figure this one out for myself, but I couldn't find what I needed.  A few threads looked promising, but I realized that they only apply to the LiveCycle.  Many other threads link to discussion 2006 Thom Parker on this subject, but it is very advanced and I feel that what I need is not as complex as the solution he proposes.  I've never used Adobe Acrobat until a few weeks ago, but with the help of Bernd Alheit and George Johnson I managed to create a document with fly-out help windows and scrolling lists and radio buttons which dictate the choice.  It's great and it works.  The last thing I have to do is to create a text box (or some kind of box) which will display a pre-written block of text based on the user choice in another area (a drop-down list box).  Like this:

    image for forums 2.PNG

    I wish, it is also easy to create because it draw a picture of him!  If the user selects "Algebra 1", for example, a specific description display below.  There are a lot of courses and descriptions, and the descriptions are long enough (as shown).  It is not necessary for the user to make changes to the description - in fact, which would be terrible.  But I would like to be able to copy text from it and paste the text in another area of text on the same page.

    Thank you very much, all those who have ideas please share them! Again wild guesses. I learn from all this.

    -Zac

    This involves using a script. If you want to write the code yourself read this tutorial:

    https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/change_another_field

    If you don't feel like messing around with the code, you can use this tool that I developed to easily set up with the help of an input file:

  • Forms - selection drop-down list box makes other fields appear

    I am building a form in InDesign that I export to PDF format with several fields (text, drop-down list, radio, checkboxes). Some fields are defined to trigger the visibility of other fields and that works very well. What I want to do and what I can barely reach, is to have a selection for a combo box, make 3 other visible fields. I'm just a beginner when it comes to buttons in InDesign and the forms of the suggestions would be appreciated.

    If it is easier to achieve in Acrobat I try too.

    In case someone sees this in the future, I found a site with a solution which works perfectly and it's so EASY!

    How can I make a visible field on a selection in the drop-down list box? (PDF Forms)

  • A drop-down list box, two text boxes

    Hi all, I feel a bit silly to ask what she should be very simple, right? I have the a combo, the solution box a text down pat. For example when the user select name of the staff member in the drop down menu, it fills the phone number of this person in Textbox1.

    I would like to add to this so that when a user selects (and here I use false details) "Bob," he filled before his phone number in Textbox1 and "[email protected]" in Textbox2 simultaneously. Simply impossible to find the solution of anywhere.

    So far, I have used the code next (on the net) in the scripts of strike of the custom from the drop-down list box, but how I lay on it?

    (function () {}

    Do nothing if it is committed
    If (event.willCommit) return;

    Set up a table to hold the various paragraphs of the text
    var aQuotes = [];

    Fill the table with the text of paragraph
    aQuotes [0] = "bob phone"
    aQuotes [1] = 'sarah phone'
    aQuotes [2] = "phone linda".
    aQuotes [3] = "phone jerry."
    aQuotes [4] = "phone of mary".
    aQuotes [5] = 'phone jessie. "

    Get the selected item, which is the value of exports of the selected drop-down list box item
    var point = event.changeEx

    Display the text corresponding to the selected item in the text field
    getField("ITC_Phone").value is aQuotes [point];.

    })();

    Bravo guys.

    Like this:

    Custom script from typo to the drop-down list box (dropdown)

    (function () {}

    Do nothing if it is committed

    If (event.willCommit) return;

    Set up a table to hold the various paragraphs of the text

    var aQuotes = [];

    Complete the tables table of telephone and e-mail addresses

    aQuotes [0] = ['phone of bob', "[email protected]" ""];

    aQuotes [1] = ["sarah phone", "[email protected]" ""];

    aQuotes [2] = ["phone linda", "[email protected]" ""];

    aQuotes [3] = ['phone jerry', "[email protected]" ""];

    aQuotes [4] = ['phone mary', "[email protected]" ""];

    aQuotes [5] = ["phone jessie", "[email protected]" ""];

    Get the selected item, which is the value of exports of the selected drop-down list box item

    var point = event.changeEx;

    Display the text corresponding to the selected item in the text field

    getField("ITC_Phone").value = aQuotes [item] [0];

    getField("ITC_Email").value = aQuotes [item] [1];

    })();

    This code assumes that the value of exports of the items in drop-down list box is 0, 1, 2, 3...

    If there is much more that the aQuotes table should really be defiined in a JavaScript file at the level of the document if you are concerned about performance and maintainability.

  • Show drop-down list field hide selection in another drop-down list box

    Hello I need to create two drop-down fields on a dynamic PDF in LiveCycle. The first field contains three choices. When a user selects an item in the drop-down list first I would like to a new field of drop-down list has been shown. For each item in the first drop-down list appears a new field drop-down list with unique values. If the user chooses blue drop-down list of blue shades indicate in this menu drop-down will be various shades of blue to choose for. If the Red is chosen, Shades of Red dropdown with appearance and if yellow is displayed the same occurs. Also if the user must go back and change their selection in the first drop-down list, they can do the same. Any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.

    There are 2 ways you could do this. The first is just to have the 3 drop-down lists for the second box to separate and do them all hidden. The output of the first dropdown event would then have the code that would make it the second box become visible, something like (in formcalc):

    If ($ == 1) then

    dropdownRed.presence = "visible".

    dropdownBlue.presence = "hidden".

    dropdownYellow.presence = "hidden".

    ElseIf ($ == 2) then

    dropdownRed.presence = "hidden".

    dropdownBlue.presence = "visible".

    dropdownYellow.presence = "hidden".

    ElseIf ($ == 3) then

    dropdownRed.presence = "hidden".

    dropdownBlue.presence = "hidden".

    dropdownYellow.presence = "visible".

    endif

    The other option is just to have a dropdown that dynamically changes its options based on the results of the first box. So in the second box preOpen event you might have something like (in formcalc):

    If (dropdown1 == 1) then

    $. clearItems()

    $.setItems ("light red, dark red")

    ElseIf (dropdown1 == 2) then

    $. clearItems()

    $.setItems ("sky blue, dark blue")

    ElseIf (dropdown1 == 3) then

    $. clearItems()

    $.setItems ("light yellow, dark yellow")

    endif

  • Have the drop-down list boxes become visible depending on the selection in a previous drop-down list box?

    Hi, im doing a form that only shows some options based on the previous selections.

    So far I have buttons which allow a user to select a specific product, and then by using the drop-down combo boxes select some optional features.

    I then have a simple javascript code that bears the name of a product at a price (i.e. the user selects product 'A', the review sections shows priced at $ 99).

    My problem is with additional customization options that depend on previous choices.

    Is it possible to have some drop-down list boxes become visible depending on the selection in a previous drop-down list box? If yes how could I impliment it?

    Currently my best idea is to have a button that could ask the user if he or she had previously chosen a certain selection and then reveal areas of correct drop-down list accordingly.

    Thank you

    Hello

    With a small change I think that the code works as expected. I changed your mainDD.value to event.value, as on the validate event the mainDD.value property cannot be updated as expected.

    script

    this.getField("Dropdown2").display = display.hidden;

    this.getField("Dropdown3").display = display.hidden;

    this.getField("Dropdown4").display = display.hidden;

    Switch (event.value)

    {

    case "a":

    this.getField("Dropdown2").display = display.visible;

    break;

    case "b":

    this.getField("Dropdown3").display = display.visible;

    break;

    case 'c ':

    this.getField("Dropdown4").display = display.visible;

    break;

    by default:

    break;

    }

    end of script

    Hope this helps

  • Several lines in a drop-down list box

    Hello

    I'm trying to create a PDF for the purposes of the information and then print it.  I have very limited skills with Acrobat 8, basically what I have gotten myself and I encountered a problem with my drop-down list boxes.  Some of the sentences that I put in the boxes are too long and I have not been able to figure out how to wrap the text, or use multiple lines.  I need all my data to display.  Can someone explain, in simple terms, if possible, how this can be accomplished, or provide an alternative.  I have read several posts but were not able to work where to start with it.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    I've implemented a small sample which should help you get started: https://acrobat.com/#d=R6J3Vsf4iJjsfE1tiNsVMg

    All the code is in the event of the button the mouse upwards. All you have to do is change the text for each item in the 'items' array to match the selections you want. Add as many items as you need. If you get stuck, post again.

  • Question about the use of the feature drop-down list box!

    I have a form that I am creating for our company that will allow our field nurses choose what they need and print more effieciently.  The problem is that some parts are too long and I can't get the Combo box feature to allow them to be printed on several lines:

    Region Capture.jpg

    I talked to my supervisor to remake the shape to look like this:

    Region Capture3.jpg

    But so that we can meet the State's guidelines, it must be formatted like the first, because it is the form of the State given to us.  I want to be able to be:

    (A) that the automatic multi-line text of combo box size so it will get all the information in each box

    OR

    (B) create text boxes at the end of the automatic enteries selected data of the second picture form in boxes that look like the first photo.

    Is it possible to make one of these?

    (A) No.

    (B) Yes. Create a text box with the following code as the custom calculation

    script (assuming that the name of the drop-down list is "Combo Box1"):

    Event.Value = this.getField("Combo_Box1").value;

    For example, when the user makes a selection in the drop-down list box, the value will be

    also appear in the text box. Make sure to set the read-only text box

    and set the drop-down list box to apply the selection immediately.

  • fill a list based on a value from the drop-down list box

    Well, I know a way around it but its quite long with what I know. I worked on a better solution for a day now. So maybe (or likely) someone knows better. I'm trying to fill a drop drop down based on a user selection figure in a list of check boxes. I know I could create several drop-down lists and hide away them until the user changes the value of binding. But the dropdowns would consume a lot of space in my form design in liveCycle. So is there another way or I'm stuck he made a long journey. I also need to assign values to these elements, since they change because the values are used as item numbers later that fill a text/number field later in form as a list of materials.

    Tell me if I'm wrong, please (I'm new to all this)

    in the box in the click event

    If (this.) RawValue == 1)

    {

    dropDownList1.addItem ("item # 1", "value1111");

    dropDownList1.addItem ("item # 2", "value2222");

    }

    on the other

    {

    dropDownList1.rawValue = "null";

    }

    I'm sure that null is not good and I don't know that I have to set the drop-down menu to clear items on preOpen. Or maybe not. And there is a way to add items without the addition of a new right of the line? I'm on the right track?

    Hello

    Rather than having the script in each of the boxes, you can have the script in the event preOpen the drop-down list that leans on the boxes.

    I downloaded an example here: https://acrobat.com/#d=VwREjsMgvqXpVqPu54kSNw

    Take a look at the preOpen the dropdown event.

    // clear the dropdown displayed value and items
    this.rawValue = null;
    this.clearItems();

    // repopulate the items based on the checkboxes
    if(fruit.rawValue == 1)
    {
         this.addItem("Apples", "fruit_001");
         this.addItem("Pears", "fruit_002");
         this.addItem("Oranges", "fruit_003");
         this.addItem("Bananas", "fruit_004");
         this.addItem("Grapes", "fruit_005");
    }

    if(cars.rawValue == 1)
    {
         this.addItem("Volvo", "car_001");
         this.addItem("Ford", "car_002");
         this.addItem("Opel", "car_003");
         this.addItem("Toyota", "car_004");
         this.addItem("Nissan", "car_005");
    }

    if(counties.rawValue == 1)
    {
         this.addItem("Co. Tipperary", "county_001");
         this.addItem("Co. Cork", "county_002");
         this.addItem("Co. Dublin", "county_003");
         this.addItem("Co. Clare", "county_004");
         this.addItem("Co. Kerry", "county_005");
    }

    Hope that helps,

    Niall
