Open a new window when linking between PDF docs (link originates in a Word doc)

Hello

I saw this discussed historically general topic, but couldn't find any resolution.  I have a Word doc (let's call it A.doc) linking to a PDF doc (let's call it b.pdf). Once I have convert Word doc to PDF (A.pdf creation), I want the link en.pdf to open b.pdf in a new window.

I've seen a number of suggestions that indicate that I can set up the link in Word to do this, use her change the hyperlink > target frame > frame target > 'new window '.  While this works if I click on the link in Word, it does seem to "reporter" once I converted A.doc to A.pdf.  When I click the link en.pdf then B.pdf opens in the same window in time.

I know how to add manually link in Acrobat.pdf to do this, but I don't want you add manually the link every time I create A.pdf.  I want to create the link once in A.doc and did delay in time, and then open the b.pdf link in a new window.

I've seen suggestions on adding some HTML somewhere.  Unfortunately, they are not, that I'm viewing the PDF files in a browser.

I saw suggestions for using the CTRL key at the same time click on the link en.pdf.  Would not be practical, because I have no way to make sure that my users will know it.

I've seen suggestions on the use of JavaScript, but it would mean (I know) I have to add the JavaScript whenever I convert A.doc A.pdf.  Still, I won't have to do any post-processing of A.pdf after I got it to create.  I want the link in 'just work' A.doc after A.pdf is created, i.e. open b.pdf in a new window.

This * seems * like a simple thing to do, I hope there is a simple solution.

BTW, I'm using Word 2007 and Acrobat X.

Thanks for your help!

Dave

I use Word 2003 and Acrobat 10 and links created as you describe defaults to 'new window '.

You have the 'Open links in the same interdocument window' unchecked in Edit > Preferences > Documents?

.. sounds too easy... (and your users will probably have to make the change even if they need this behavior, unless you have a very techno IT department that can deploy configuration files large company).

  • How to open a new window when you open a file from a slide on Captivate 9

    I am almost at the end of my first e-learning project on Captivate 9 and I have a small question: when I open a PDF file to a slide via a hyperlink or a button (via an ' action'), it's just switching page in the web browser instead of opening a new window.

    So I need to press return to return to the project, but it is up to the start screen.

    Is it possible to open a second window instead of 'project closing' when opening a file?

    You must select 'new' in the dropdown menu next to the link entry field.

  • Is it possible to close Firefox after have closed all the windows (and also to open a new window when starting another process of Firefox)?

    Yes, Yes, I know, it's not good to keep open applications when they are not designed to be. I'm sure Firefox has some memory leaks and this does more harm than good, but...
    My computer is not the biggest out there, and to increase the ease of use of my Firefox browser, it would be nice to keep the firefox.exe process opened, even after you close all windows. I know that Firefox is not totally close if there is at least a Firefox-related window opens, but having to open popup window X seems a little extreme to achieve this effect.
    In addition, to allow another window to open, it would be cool for guests 'OH No. FIREFOX IS STILL OPEN' should be replaced by just trying to open a new window, if this feature is enabled.
    So, if it exists, is there a variable config for it, and if it does not exist, it is possible to somehow? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if it comes to him; I really want to get what's going on.
    I am running Windows 7 family, if it's important. (I would rather run a different OS, but this is neither the time nor the place...)

    This addon should close all tabs and open a blank tab and stay in the tray like this. or at least have an option like that. So what I have and what you want is met.

  • Open a new window when the user presses the button

    Hello

    I have a button (BUTTON HTML) that opens a URL... but it opens URL in the same window...

    is there a way to open a new window (popup) when the user presses the button...

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    Just change the button to the target URL.

    Specify the URL like: javascript:popupURL('__');

    popupURL is a function of popup. You can use the pop-up popUp2 (these are functions in the library of the apex with slightly different implementations), window.open, etc.

    popupURL
    function popupURL(a){html_PopUp(a,"winLov",800,600)}

    popUp
    function popUp(URL) {
     day = new Date();
     id = day.getTime();
     eval("page" + id + " = window.open(URL, '" + id + "', 'toolbar=0,scrollbars=1,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=1,width=600,height=600');");
     }

    popUp2
    function popUp2(b,a,c){day=new Date();pName=day.getTime();html_PopUp(b,pName,a,c)}

  • Why Firefox sometimes opens a new window when I browse to an existing tab?

    I often have 7 or 8 tabs open in Firefox. Sometimes, when I click on a tab, Firefox opens in a new window instead of going to this tab. I did not understand a boss when it does.

    A will (usually at lower) very light movement causes the tab to "tear" / "snatch" in a new window. You can drag the tab to the window of the new window origin.

    You can install this add-on to stop the behavior "tear off" / "tear off":

    This affects all sites? If it affects only certain sites, could you give some examples?

    Note: for Google, you can disable this on and off in the search parameters. Click on the "gear" (Options) icon, then the search parameters, and then uncheck the box for "open each result selected in a new browser window."

  • Opening page in a new window when clicking on a link in the section of Global button bar

    I created a custom and global link to appear alongside the House, disconnected links. The requirement is to open a page in a new window when I click the custom global link. Please let me know how to get this functionality.

    Thank you

    VG,

    I think you should be able to open a new window using javascript in the function definition,
    Please check out the http://mukx.blogspot.com/2007/07/javascript-in-oa-framework.html blog and try it.
    Let me know if you are not able to achieve the same thing.

    With respect,

  • When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried to change that in all: config; Browser.newtab.URL, but it will not

    When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried several times to change that through words: config; Browser.newtab.URL. I put in the site I want and it won't change. I tried to put in: blank and it don't work. I'm obviously something wrong - can you help please?

    Thank you

    If Firefox is ignorant preference browser.newtab.url, the usual culprit is an extension.

    You can open the page in Firefox Add-ons using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
    • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
      firefox.exe "about:addons"

    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. Do not forget that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox, and you can learn more about them by checking their reviews on the site of the Add - ons.

    Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

  • Why when I click on a bookmark it opens a new window, it supports a window I'm working on that

    Why when I click on a bookmark it opens a new window, it supports a window I'm working on that

    The easiest way to open a link in a new tab (and which contains bookmarks) is Middle - click on the link (bookmark) with the mouse scroll button.

  • JavaScript windows do not appear after you click a link that opens a new window

    When I try to click on a link that opens a new window (like to put an image in a Tumblr post or use an article on Neopets (don't judge me)), it will not. In the lower left corner of the page, it says "javascript:; ' or ' JavaScript: void ' or something like that.

    In this regard (I think), Firefox only opens a new window, even if I press ctrl + N or manually, click on 'New window' in the menu.

    Safe mode disables Extensions and themes (appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) installed > Add ons. Hardware acceleration is also disabled (the manual setting is in tools > Options > Advanced > general > use hardware acceleration where possible). You can try to isolate the cause of deactivation/activation of suspicious modules or try in groups.

  • Is there a way to open a new window with a site when the House on Firefox setting has several Web sites?

    When you work in Firefox, is there a way to open a new window with a site when the House on Firefox setting has several Web sites?

    Firefox always opens a new window with the home page (s), you must use shift + left click on a link (bookmark) to open a page in a new window or just rip an existing tab by dragging the tab slightly downwards to open the tab in a new window.
