Scope of the rule

Hi all

I'm new to Foglight and I would take aid from communities below:

While the scope of the rule, I followed the steps mentioned in the KB 40891 article that says

"Amend the beginning of the line so that it contains the 'WHERE IN' statement.
Due to the PR73395 5.2.2 bug you need to replace the beginning & ending opening and closing parentheses with braces.
Delete the individual uniqueID = for each hostname identifier and just let delimited by commas and remove the opening and closing brackets that wrap each host ID.  ' Only the beginning & ending braces are needed for your compound 'in' declaration '.

I would like to know if we need to follow this now too because I don't have error when I did a "check of the query" without using the statement WHEREIN.

Kind regards

Roshan

Thank you Roshan-

So the next question is: your custom rule works? Are you led alarm against the object extended as

can you wait? If yes then I think you're ok.

    Basically, I want to limit the scope for applications of telnet entering 192.168.1.0/24 subnet only IP addresses. Any other IP address should be removed by the firewall.  I can't find a way to change things by using the built-in options. I disable the integrated thing and try to make my own? Outgoing requests to telnet on port 23 must be unrestricted.

    I think he should focus on inbound and outbound rules rather than firewall traffic rules. There is a tab on the properties.

  • How to limit the rules (CPU usage) doesn't include a few servers (IP)

    Hello

    There are few servers who always raised processor and we do not generate alerts for servers, but we need to get the statistics of CPU in the FMS, is there a way I can limit the rules (i.e., the CPU utilization) to not stand for these servers.

    Thank you

    Shashank Soni.

    Hello

    You can change the definition of the rule to exclude certain hosts.

    In this example, we add a condition by saying that the does not apply to a specific host, or hosts.
    Note that you may need to replace the name of the property with the property that designates the host name.

    You can also check the host name in the status itself

    Another option you have is to find the variable being compared and it scope (give it a very high value for specific hosts.

    I hope this helps.

  • exclude alerts for DVD players on the rules available to the logical disk space

    Hello

    I created a new rule to monitor space available in megabytes using the topology of logical disk for my windows Hosts. The rule is also trigger alerts for CD/DVD players. I need exclusion has go them of monitoring/alert. Please guide if you have an idea of how it can be ruled out starting / ignored.

    Query scope I use: LogicalDisk: host.agents.type {'Active Directory', 'ExchangeAgent', 'WindowsAgent'} with the spaceAvailable property. Alert reader DVD are ignored if I use the property capacityavailable of logical disk. But it shows the free space available in % I need.

    Return to Administration-> tooling-> Console of Script and paste the following text in the search box:

    Logical disk: (host.agents.type {'Active Directory', 'ExchangeAgent', 'WindowsAgent'}) and (detail.writable! = false)

    "Do the motion" SELECT and let us know if this succeeds.

  • Wildcard in the rule Condition

    Hello

    I'm trying to code a condition in the rule ability to file alarm system for the particular file systems.  I will define a particular server in the definition of the rule for the rule brought to a server and I'll add code similar to the following:

    checkDiskName = scope.get ("name")

    subjectName = null

    Switch (checkDiskName) {}

    "F:\\ExchangeLog1" - case: subjectName = "high Disk Alert - invoke Standby."
    break;
    "F:\\ExchangeLog2" - case: subjectName = "high Disk Alert - invoke Standby."
    break;
    "F:\\ExchangeMaintLog" - case: subjectName = "high Disk Alert - invoke Standby."
    break;

    default: subjectName = "high Disk Alert.

    }

    subjectName return

    (The foregoing has been truncated.)

    In other words, if the particular drive space is part of the privileged few, issues have a reminder in the subject line that the person keep must be awake, but for other drives, let him sleep.

    As you can see, it would be better to have a wildcard to do this, similar to:

    "F:\\Exchange*" - case: subjectName = "high Disk Alert - invoke Standby."
    break;

    default: subjectName = "high Disk Alert.

    This will match all the varieties like F:\\ExchangeLog5 and F:\\ExchangeMaintLog.  (For your information, the file systems appear within Foglight like F:\ExchangeLog3 etc.).

    Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Brian

    Hello

    I would use a simple if-then-else here, but you can also use a regex in a switch

    Switch (checkDiskName) {}

    case ~ / F:\\Exchange.*/: 'high drive alert - call Standby' break;

    default: subjectName = "low"; break;

    }

  • Adding more of one type of topology in the rules

    Hello world

    Is it possible to add more than one type of topology and get properties combined on a single rule?

    If so, please help me as soon as possible.

    -Shiva

    I don't think it's a problem of multiple TopologyObjects in one rule. The way THIS particular gem is realized is using abstraction.

    The highest level, this can be done by doing something as affecting the scope:

    "TopologyObject where topologyTypeName = 'HostCPUs' or topologyTypeName = 'LogicalDisk' or......"

    (add as much as you had like... but be warned: you'll have to do your own intelligence here to ensure that you do not use invalid property queries, because each of these extended types have different properties.)

    HOWEVER -

    I think that the real solution to your problem, it's that you must set your scope to something that you can use to associate all together. In this case, why not just set your scope to the FSMService itself, then use logic to find the children of type 'Host' and go from there? Even more, you can define your scope on the ' home' object and try to find the host for an object of type 'FSMService' parents - which gives you your HostCPUs information, (since HostCPUs is owned by 'cpu' of the ' host' object), as well as information on the application of the FSMService.

  • Need a few more details on the Options field, scope of the attribute, 'Global' vs 'form' when defining tags

    OK, I admit I am confused... I solved my problem but I do not understand the solution.

    I have a form that has a header that is reported as"overflow" and NO overflow and the multiplier of overflow is set to 0.  The trigger is manual and use a search mask counter instance flag and 0.  The header is repeated at the top of each page, everything as I want it, but the header tags (IE POLITICAL. NUMBER) are printed on the first occurrence of the header section and the second and the following tags is white/not filled.

    If I change the section that is used for the header and define the scope of the POLICY. Tag NUMBER 'form', it works correctly and prints the value of POLICY. NUMBER on each occurrence of the header.  If I set the scope of the POLICY. Tag NUMBER on 'GLOBAL' of POLITICS. Tag NUMBER is entered on the first occurrence (page 1) and white on all events (page 2, 3...) It makes no sense for me?

    My POLICY. NUMBER tag on the section uses the XDB, multiplier of overflow rule is set to 0 and overflow is the default.

    Can someone explain to me how it works?  The impression that the GLOBAL setting should fill all occurrences of the tag POLICY. NUMBER of all forms together.  Would have been logical for me if I changed it the chapter to the FORM but not global to FORM.

    Thanks in advance for helping me understand how it works!

    Documentation... I'd be surprised if this is not documented somewhere. It is perhaps not as important as it should be. As a guess, I would first look at the description of the PaginateAndPropagate rule or any place that talks about the paging / batch (Gendata) execution of overflow. If it is not described as a note somewhere in the DMStudio of the field properties, then it is a logical place where is should be. The problem is that this behavior is different in the lots it is for data entry where the global spread is managed dynamically, so it is noteworthy.

  • Functions in the rules of Foglight

    Hello

    I tried to find the definitions of the custom functions used in the rules, but have failed so far. Can someone guide me in the right direction?

    For example: DBO - redo wait Contention
    Function used: DBWC_SingleInstanceOnlyRuleFilter (scope, "DBO - Redo Wait argument", "3", status);

    I need to understand that, in order to take advantage of the features within my rules as well as to better understand the existing rules.

    P.S. I'm aware of the use of the functions with WCF dashboards.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ashley.

    These types of features used in the Foglight rules are said to be "named scripts. They are different from the functions used in the WCF dashboards. They are often deployed in Foglight via a cartridge, especially when a rule provided by this cartridge uses the script. Once a named script is within Foglight, other rules may use it.

    You can't see the source code of a script within the Foglight user interface.  If you want to see the source for such a script, the best approach is to understand what Foglight cartridge, it was deployed in, then make a copy of the file of the cartridge and crack open the copy with WinZip or WinRAR - you will probably be able to locate the source of the script here in a XML political oversight.

    I hope this helps.

  • Adding to the rule of file system capacity

    Hello

    The ability of current file system rule resembles the current % used and compared to a registry variable.   My team of storage request that I change the rule.  They wanted to be able to specify a more granuilar % as 99.5% for criticism or 99.2% for warnring (for specific disc) it's because these drives are very large.  However, it seems that the default metric is supported only integers... .such as 99%.

    That said my next idea was to change the alert rule that if the player was at 99% and had to say less than 1 GB of space... for example.  In this way, he would not be a problem for smaller and larger discs would have a second check.  However I don't know how to change the condition to achieve this result.  That's what brings me to yall.   Thanks for any help in advance

    Here is the current status for the warning

    test = true;

    for {(obj in scope.detail)

    If (obj.topologyTypeName.equals ("AccessInformation")) {}

    test = obj.writable;

    }

    }

    If {(test)

    return #capacityUsed # > = registry ("INF_FileSystemCapacityWarning");

    }

    Returns false;

    You can create your own registry variables and make double whole vs. and those who use instead.  With respect to the addition in the available space, you could manually set or use a registry variable.  There is space in MB.

    test = true;

    for {(obj in scope.detail)

    If (obj.topologyTypeName.equals ("AccessInformation")) {}

    test = obj.writable;

    }

    }

    If {(test)

    return #capacityUsed # > = registry ("INF_FileSystemCapacityWarning") & #spaceAvailable #.<=>

    }

    Returns false;

  • The rule of definition - shouldn't this work

    I'm crazy, please let me know if this should work, when I validate the condition that I continue to find the server. I don't want the ProcessorUtilization to draw on this server. This is the condition

    Windows_System_Processor_Table where monitoredHost.name! = ' xxxx*. XXXX.com'

    RegEx is a topic worthy of study, but if your condition is "configure the scope application of a rule so that the rule does not apply to a specific host", then you don't need RegEx.

    Also, it is worth noting that any copy-and-customize you made to the rules of inheritance cartridge OS will need to be redone when you migrate to the cartridge of the Infrastructure. If you have FMS 5.6 or more, you may be able to save time and effort of host migration ' exclude from the scope ' agent Windows Infrastructure rather sooner than later.

  • Access rule to the rule-driven event Variables

    Hello!

    Background:

    Here's what I'm trying to do: I was hoping someone might be able to help me with this.

    I created an event rule without a scope that will be sent, if the name of the event contains a prefix set, as follows;

    {if(@event_name.) Contains ("MYFILTER_")}

    Returns true;

    } else {}

    Returns false;

    }

    The action is a command line action that activates a special probe in SNMP before that we have installed on the server.

    The problem:

    I want to access a variable in the variable filter rule. Essentially, EACH rule containing MYFILTER_ as a prefix has a variable defined as a variable of @callGroup RULE. This variable considers the specified parent service and tire part of the name of the service that we have designed to be always the band guard for this alarm/event.

    The solution that I'm looking should look like this:

    On the event rule:

    Variable: callGroup

    Type: Expression

    Value of the expression: @event.get ("callGroup");

    On the MYFILTER_ rule:

    Variable: callGroup

    Type: Expression

    Value of the expression:

    def foundParent = false;

    targetService def = 'unknown ';

    i = 0;

    While (i< scope.parents.size()="" &&="">

    obj = scope.parents def;

    {if (obj.topologyTypeName.Equals ("FSMService"))}

    If (obj. Name.Contains(":") & obj.name.contains("-")) { //This is the regular expression to our designated 'parents services' }

    targetService = obj.name;

    foundParent = true;

    }

    }

    i ++ ;

    }

    {if(!foundParent)}

    for (x = 0; x

    for (y = 0; y)

    obj = Scope.parents [x] .parents;

    {if (obj.topologyTypeName.Equals ("FSMService"))}

    If (obj. Name.Contains(":") & obj.name.contains("-")) { //This is the regular expression to our designated 'parents services' }

    targetService = obj.name;

    foundParent = true;

    }

    }

    }

    }

    }

    originService = targetService.split(":");

    parentService = originService [0];

    Return parentService.split ("-") [0];

    Bottom Line: How can I access this other value or a variable existing rule from the interface of event action rule?

    access to the content of the rule Variables is unfortunately not possible by using the generated alarm or event driven rule.

    But I think you can use the same rule of expression led to the event. The only problem is that your event driven rule is not you need to replace worn with

    Server. TopologyService.getObject(@event.topologyObjectID)

    Like this

    def scopedObject = server.TopologyService.getObject(@event.topologyObjectID) // use the @event to find the alarm scope !!!

    def foundParent = false;def targetService = "unknown";

    i=0;while(i < scopedObject.parents.size() && !foundParent){  def obj=scopedObject.parents;  if(obj.topologyTypeName.equals("FSMService")){    if(obj.name.contains(":") && obj.name.contains("-")){ //This is the regex of our designated "parent services"        targetService = obj.name;        foundParent = true;    }   }  i++;}

    if(!foundParent){  for(x=0;x;       if(obj.topologyTypeName.equals("FSMService")){                  if(obj.name.contains(":") && obj.name.contains("-")){  //This is the regex of our designated "parent services"           targetService = obj.name;           foundParent = true;         }       }     }  }}

    originService = targetService.split(":");parentService = originService[0];

    return parentService.split(" - ")[0];

  • Application of the rules of mail on only some accounts

    I have 4 accounts IMAP entering Mail - one is, of course, iCloud.  Two are not, they come from my own URL and one is an Exchange Server.  I would like to have a set of rules that apply only to NON Exchange accounts = I don't want to filter e-mail Exchange, only the others.  I know you can make the choice of 'everything', but not how to set up to apply the rules to accounts 1-3 and not #4.

    I have Mail Act-on and hub mail, but have not seen how those who can do what I want.  Otherwise I am so far happy with Mail and apps and Yosemite, and the only question is to cease to apply the rules on the Exchange account.

    Thank you very much.

    Mail, view the headers of the messages that you are interested in differentiating, next to a single SMTP header since the servers in question and (the list of headers using change... in the selector to add rules) adds that the list of things that can be selected and sorted and then base your rules out this header entry.   You can sort - of make a general sequencing in the respect of the rules by placing a rule of 'catch-all' somewhere in the middle of the list, with a "stop evaluating rules" to prevent a future regulation to take effect.   As establishing a rule that simply detects a header only associated with Exchange Server and stops to assess all of the following rules.   Or something like.
