This books is already in your library error

I have a manual I want to have available for my students, but it is too big to keep as an iBook. I have created as two iBooks, two-piece exported two files of ida. When I try to add the second book in iBooks to I get the error message "this book is already in your library. You want to replace it with one you are adding? "These books have content and different titles. They each created from a blank template in iBooks author.

Any thoughts on what is happening and a solution?

Thank you, David

Nobody answered, so I'll try because no answer is probably worse in this case than a wave.  I saw and responded to this question even in the recent past.  I don't know enough about iba and ibooks or the missing info from your messages to explain exactly why this happens, but I suspect that I know how to help you around with her.  If I had more time, I know exactly what tests I would focus on the problem.

first of all, it is always useful to specify your version of iba and ibooks and likely extension of your operating system.  Here are the steps I'd do to convince me that it is something else.

1. I go to ibooks and watch to see if each copy is there.  If this is the case, remove it from the shelf of the ibook.

2. check that the title on the cover of each book is different.  You can find that in the left pane: display thumbnails of the page.  the title is associated with the first icon, the cover of the book.  It would be useful to know your titles.  I guess I guess they differ only by the volume 1 and volume 2.

3. look at the Inspector, the document window.  Title field.  Make sure that they are not the same.  mine is empty, so I don't know how important that is, but neither do I know not if you get a problem if they are identical.  is not likely.  I just want to eliminate what I do not understand.

4 trash all your .ibooks files associated with these two books.  trash not your files of iba.

5. you say two ida file, I assume you mean two files of iba.  later, when you want to create a copy of each book, use Preview for mac instead of export.  This will place each book in the Bookshelf, where you will be able to watch any editing that you could still do.  It will control also beyond control of multiple copies on your desktop, which may or may not contribute to your problem.

at some point, you need to determine the best way to distribute your book several volumes to your students.  It is a different matter.

If I had more time, I would try to recreate this problem to know exactly the cause.  but I think that it will prevent the process described above.  hope I'm not mistaken.  otherwise, one of the experts may move to help you.
