  • Why do I get the word is not responsible for the messages every time I try to open a word document

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

If you use the product key on your machie isn't only good for Vista - Office.  Chances are Office was installed as a free trial, and the trial has expired and to activate office (or get a real version of Office to replace the trial with) then you must buy the product and get a product key for Office to purchase.  If the trial has expired, this fact might explain all the problems you encounter - produced Office are more fully functional (only functional to the point of being able to turn them on).  If this is the case, you will need to decide whether to buy Office and which version to get the programs you want to use.  This decision is yours.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Two points:

    1. the easiest way is to define a right-click on association any
example of a file with this extension. Choose open with and define the
Association, making sure to check the box "always use...". ».

    2. you say ' * sometimes * when I try to open a Word document "and that
'sometimes' suggests that you can open .doc files, but not files .docx.
If so, you have a version of Word prior to 2007; install the
    Compatibility Pack to

  • I can't open Word documents as it freezes.

When opening WORD blank document hangs and I have to close it. It then sends an error report. When I try to open a WORD document, the page is just blank. still, when I go to close, it sends an error report.

You should ask questions related to the word in the appropriate forum Word.  Do not forget to mention the version of Word that you have (click Help > subject).

While you are waiting for a reply in a forum of Word, you could see if deletion (see paragraph 4 of the article linked) the NORMAL template fixed things.  See http://www.pcdon.com/word-unstable-corrupted-normal-dot.html

I have a problem with the Windows Explorer and the preview pane.  When I activate the pane at the bottom and try to view a Word Document it blocks Word even if Word is not open.  What happens on Windows 7 x 64 systems, we have many systems with the same question.   Does anyone have a solution?

  • Do not correctly convert Visio drawings into Word documents

    Hello

Windows XP, with all available patches.

Word 2007, with all available patches.

Visio 2002 with all available patches.

Acrobat X pro (trial at this stage) with all available patches.

I have some long Word documents that have incorporated in their breast visio drawings.  When I try and convert the word document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat, which is installed in Word tab, I find that the document is converted without errors, but when I go to the document, some of the Visio drawings are not displayed correctly.  In particular, the arrows at the ends of a large number of connectors are missing.

Is this a known issue?  Is there a reasonable solution?

I tried severl other creators PDF and they function without problem - the Adobe Acrobat is the only converter that I tried that exhibits this behavior, and right now it stop me from buying the full version.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, this was specifically addressed in 10.1.4. Thanks for raising the issue and the collatoral test mode.

  • Try to restore an older version of a word document.

I accidentally replaced a Word document existing "save under" I would like try to restore a more early saved version of the file.  Is this possible?

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky.  They have so-called saves shadow copies, which are deleted or modified files that can be recovered in case changes/deletions made by mistake.  http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx more information about how to use this feature to: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/howdoi/?p=145.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, shadow copies is not available; However, there is an alternative that is free and the shadow copies feature called Shadow Explorer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/.  Although it will not help you this time, it could very well save you in case this happens again.

In case this does not work (not all files are available through shadow - it occurs periodically), here are some additional free recovery programs that might help:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html (first try Recuva)

http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/DiskDigger.html (try this second - if it does not help then the chances of recovery are very slim - but you can try the other options if you want to)

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/easusdfr.html

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/restoration.html

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/downloads/Recuva/dlrecuva.html

    http://www.SoftPerfect.com/products/FileRecovery/

    http://techpaul.WordPress.com/2008/06/23/how-to-recover-your-lost-files/

The files are not really deleted until they are crushed (although they are no longer available through conventional methods).  If you decide to try these recovery programs, you should stop using your drive hard immediately in order not to replace the data that you are trying to recover.  He slave on another PC and launch the recovery of this PC.  Even now you have definitely lost some of them if you use the same PC.  If you can not do this (slave on another PC), you run the risk of overwriting the data with every action you do on the PC (but you may still be able to recover some or most or even all files - it's a matter of luck).

Only you can decide if the data is important enough to take the PC to an expert data recovery to recover files (they will have better programs and hardware to do that none of us do, and I've provided above).  Do NOT go to the Geek Squad or one of these centers of store-, they generally don't know what they are doing - it take for expert data recovery.  It will cost you a little and they generally offer no guarantees.  The decision is yours.

For any other questions about the word, please post to the Discussion of the Office group at: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.word.docmanagement&lang=en&cr=US where the word experts will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

    I hope this helps.
