• OSX Server caching does not work after update

Any length of characters, because they were not specified during the installation of OSX Server cached the required DNS records.

  No firewall is between the server and clients on the local network (only a L3 switch), but obviously, if the customer traffic leaves our network, it passes through a firewall. No change to the rule group since it worked finally.

  The Mac Mini has an interface (with IP address and corresponding DNS record) in each subnet of the client (using virtual LANs), but it seems to register with the Apple servers using its main wired LAN IP (which can reach customers) with the Apple servers.

  Mac Mini connects via gigabit ethernet.

  Wireless connectivity is through a mix of HP MSM and Ubiquiti access points; no system seems to result in customer traffic.

  My understanding of the protocols involved are something along these lines.

  -OSX server registers with Apple, using its normal connection; transmits the local LAN IP address for the cache clients to use; can pass TXT DNS records to help "seed" of customers, or can use the parameter entry in the cache server configuration.

  -Customers use the TXT DNS record to inform the global servers of Apple that they need the IP address of the server cache.

  -Apple returns the local LAN IP address.

  -The customer is for the server cache.

  -Profit.

  I certainly see the first happening party - the Debug.log show apparently successful registration; the cache in the applet Server service is green - but no client request seems to happen.

• 10.11.5 OSX creates problem safari @ blogger

  Since the recent update OSX 10.11.5, I am unable to use Safari 9.1.1 to create or modify messages on my blog on Blogger. The cursor does not appear or there is a lag in time when you use controls - small issues that nevertheless make the impossible experience blogging. However, if I use Chrome, I have no problem whatsoever. I do understand that Blogger and chromium are products of Google, but Safari is my default browser and these problems are new for me since the recent update of the OSX software. I just think that Apple should know.

  Apple is not regularly monitor the discussions. These are mostly a user in discussions.

  Send feedback to Apple. They will not respond, but at least know that there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it can become the problem solved as soon as possible.

• Use WD - NAS (MyCloud) with OSX Server Time Machine

  Mounted a my WD-MyCloud-SIN AFP share to the TM server on OSX Server (latest version). Unfortunately, the disc shows up with no KB for backup and even if I choose this server/sharing, backup TM does end with mistake almost immediately. OSX used on the server and the Client is 10.11 (El Capitan) with the latest patches/updates.

  Someone at - it an idea if this combo is supposed to work (if so, how)?

• OSX Server: invisible folder

  For several days I have a strange problem: my shared folder is invisible, but the content is accessible from my network. This folder is located on the main hard drive and does not appear in the FINDER, at the same time, I can find content by using the search tool.   A few things that can make the hidden folder include starting with one. and by setting the hidden flag.  If you started with one, then rename it.  If it is marked as hidden, you can use the command chflags to removed the hidden flag.

  Someone has an idea, how I can use Kerberos to authenticate with the TimeMachine service hosted by a server OSX?

  We use Mac clients in an Active Directory environment. Rules of procedure requires users to change their password after a few weeks. The problem: advertising knows the password, so the OSX Server knows the password, but the customers still have the old password stored in the keychain. So they try to connect to the service time machine with the old and evil, and that powers won't work. With Kerberos, this could be resolved.

  How to set up Time Machine?  System preferences or via a Configuration profile?  I'm guessing the system preferences.

  Try this command on one of your customers:

  tmutil destinationinfo

  If the value of the URL looks like this:

  AFP://user@host._afpovertcp._tcp.local./TM_Staff/

  Then you connect using Hello and so you're outside the Kerberos realm.  You can try to change the destination of a fully qualified host name or use configuration profiles.  What is the server bound to AD?

  I had this problem too. Here is how I fixed it in about 3 seconds.

  1.) by scanning in the right and type "WSReset.exe" (without the quotes) in the search bar.

  2.) click on the application that appears. It will look like a Windows Store icon.
