  There is a difference of playing files on USB or streaming files using NAS.
  I recommend the page 106 in the user manual:

  Using NAS you should check the details and notes for the DMS (digital media server)

  For example: video files with the file extension mp4 and M4V are supported using video/audio codec H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC).

Their status blog says there is a problem with the RSS, although with the audio file rather than the power supply is probably all part of the same problem.

  No, the purpose of iCloud photo library is to have exactly the same pictures on all your devices.

  You can turn on 'Optimize storage' on your devices, so the photos they need less storage.

  Or move the photos on your Mac to a second photo library, which does not synchronize with iCloud.  Single library can be synchronized with iCloud. If you transfer pictures to a second library, before you remove them from your iOS devices, copies in different library will remain.
