  There is no password required for the installation of Flash Player, at least not on the side of the things Adobe.  It's probably the security of your computer, forcing you to you connect allowing the installation to occur.  Only you would know what would be the connection for this information.

I have 11.4.402.265 and is 11.4.402.278.  somehow, though, I headed in install shockwave player 11.5.9.620 instead.  (I had other problems too, but they are quite different, so I'll fix it in a separate debate.)

  now I just need to know if I destroyed my computer, if I should try to undo what I have done, what have I made, need I or not if it matter if I have these two programs on my computer at the time, and other issues that people more knowledgeable can say I need to ask questions about but I am too tech -UNsavvy to know to include.

  The difference is:

  Flash Player - play content with extension SWF, often created with Adobe Flash Pro. There are other tools that can publish to swf format. Illustrator can even export to swf format.

  Shockwave Player - play content with the DCR extension - created with Adobe Director.

  The term Shockwave has confused people in the past. Flash was Shockwave Flash. Now, Flash and Shockwave are separate things. It shouldn't damage your computer to have both installed. They are the two plugins web trust. If you have installed the from the Adobe Web site, you should be fine.

  Download the package from this link.  Double-click to open it in your downloads folder.   From Windows 8, Microsoft integrates Flash Player in IE and Edge (WIn10).  The ActiveX EXE or installers MSI DO NOT work on these operating systems.

  Given that Microsoft integrates Flash Player, all updates are published by Microsoft via Windows Update.  Make sure you have the latest update installed.  Microsoft security bulletins lists the various security updates.  I don't see a separate item of Flash Player, as they have for July August update.  Most likely, it is included in the cumulative update for IE/Edge.
