  You probably have the trial installed creative Cloud version (this version cannot be activated with the perpetual license key). Uninstall the one currently on your computer this will not affect your existing catalog, preferences and other personal files. Then download LR 5.6 from the link below, install that insert your serial number and it should work fine.

  After you have started your lr 5 installation you will be asked for the serial number lr 5.  After entering it (and not to find an eligible upgrade installed), you will be asked to select the upgrade of qualification (IE, version previous lr) in the menu dropdown.

  After selecting this version, you will be asked for his (the previous version) serial number.
