5 - the misfortunes of Lightroom replacement drive

Recently, the hard drive with all my RAW files crashed and had to be replaced. It was OK because I had all my images stored on another drive. The reader who was lost contained images of holiday 14 days separated by the day. The drive that contains the backup data were separated by the card that contained them. When I used LR function to attach the catalogue with the raw data, two days have been lost. I can't find the images in the catalog anywhere. So, I try again with RAW images and import them into the catalog. LR greys them out (refuses to import), implying that they are in the catalog. Can anyone help me find these missing images? Thank you

Hi Divisiblesun,

Please, try the following steps in order to find the files:

1 Note the name of the file.

2. stand in Lightroom library module.

3. Select all photos in the left panel and select text from the menu filter, type the name of the file

4. When you have found your image just right-click on it and click on go to the folder in the library.

Please let us know if it helps.

  • Portege R100 install XP on the replacement drive

    Help, please

My hard drive in my R100 went bad and I replaced it and it became a nightmare to install XP.

I spent 2 days on this subject, and I can't break! I have the original Toshiba USB floppy drive that can be accessed by cell phone and a desktop USB external CD/DVD drive mounted in a USB chassis. It's the Sony DRU - 540A. I tried everything on this forum and it does not work.

I copied the I386 folder in the C: / once I'd fdisk and formatted it and when windows was running from the CD it came to try to find the asms file. When I run the Portege R100 Recovery Bootdisk V1.1.zip he can see my Cd/DVD drive however the virtual D: it creates, causing the PC to freeze when I run Windows NT.

Please help because it's pretty darn painful!

    Thanks Brendan

Why would you copy the files from the CD to your HARD drive? To install an operating system, in your case Windows XP just boot from the CD and follow the instructions given by the installation routine.

You can change the priority of booting into the BIOS settings, or by pressing the C key laptop start upward.

Hello world. I have a Satellite 1400-503 through the 2212 mixed sd - r drive that makes the problems on reading and writing of cd and dvd. I want to replace but freezes when I tried to boot the laptop with other devices. The same problem also came with the replacement of the hard disk. When I handed the former parts Notepad starts. I did a bios update without any results. The local representative in Greece (where I live) wants 400 euro to replace the drive. Any suggestions please?

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is easy not exactly to say why the laptop freezes. Maybe you used unsupported devices. You reinstall the Windows operating system after the replacement of the device?
If this is not the case, try it.

  • HP 14-r025tx: what is the maximum size of hard drive I can replace my default one? & other hard disk performance issue

My default hard disk is almost full and I plan to update. What is the maximum size that this model could overcome? Very well is 2-3 to?

    Another question.

I replaced my optical drive to a box with a 250 GB SSD HARD drive inside. I installed my new operating system here, and makes the default boot drive. The default value of HARD drive that comes with the laptop is my backup drive. This is configured by okay?

    or

Do I have to put my SSD on the default HARD drive space and put my 2 to/3 TB harddrive on the caddy for maximum performance?

    Hello

    1. in theory, you can get 2 TB or TB but 1 TB has better peformance.

    2. you cannot boot from the caddy. My suggestion: use for normal Bay and 2 TB SSDS in the caddy. You both what you want.

    3. as (2) above.

    Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

  • Install the operating system after replacing the corrupted hard drive Asus q500a

The hard drive on my Asus Q500a is bad (he had checked the repairman). They told me that I could replace it (it will just keep failing until at last it dies just) but I have to re - install the operating system. The laptop comes with Windows 7 and I upgraded to 8 when it came out (I think). I don't have a recovery disk.

How can I replace the corrupted hard drive and re-install the operating system?

Would it not easier that I left the repair shop handle it?

  • Restoration of the gross changes in the case of a hard drive failure

I use Syncback (not a disk imaging program) to save my image files and the LR catalog on external drives.

I don't have the problem, but failed to drive a friend got me thinking in detail about exactly how I could recover my images - in particular LR-edited raw files - if I lost the internal drive that stores my image files.  I always thought that I would just copy the folders of backup on the replacement of the failed drive.  Now I wonder if the LR catalog would then be able to find my images and apply all the changes I made to the raw files? Probably the replacement drive would be different from the original.  Is the hard drive brand, dimensions, partitions, etc., has something to do with the operation of the catalogue?

Not sure it's relevant, but I don't put my backup drives in my LR catalog.  Running LR 4.2 on Win 7.

I'm more concerned about the raws because I mostly shoot raw and did not convert many jpeg or tiff.  I tend to print directly from raw with LR files.   The thought of losing all changes in car disaster is daunting.  (It is perhaps a good reason to convert it into a format of the final image (Tiff or Jpeg) as soon as possible.

Can someone make sure that the copy of files from my backup on a disk new player (with the same letter as the old designation) is all I have to do to keep my precious changes?  If not, what else?

    Thank you.

If the new drive has the same drive and the same folder structure, then you should be absolutely perfect.  Obviously, you'll need a backup of the catalog too!  Brand, size, etc. will not matter in the slightest.

As a measure of precaution, just to make it really really easy, I would put the Panel files up as a hierarchy so that all folders appear under a single parent folder.  That, even if the drive letter changed, or the picture files ended up in a slightly different place, you very quickly link Lightroom to the new location.

If you are thinking of backups, just to make you your presets and other parameters saved too.  Losing these would not affect your existing fixtures, but they would be a pain to recreate.

  • I copied the photo library on external drive, and that one photo now shows despite the file being 70 GB.

I had a library in iPhoto on an external HARD drive, and it worked. This is a disc plu so I decided to replace it with a new one that doesn't take much space on my desk. I copied the library through an external DRIVE to another drive, and it seemed to work. However, it now shows that a single photo despite being listed in the file manager as containing more than 70 GB.

I explored a bit further in the file using finder and preview and found many files sorted by date. The photos seem to be all there, but they appear in iPhoto when I switched to this library. Always only one picture appears.

I decided to convert the copied pictures from iPhoto library and it took a lot of time to convert, but the converted library always display just a single photo in Photos when I switch to this library.

I could import all of them individually, but it's a big enough job, if there is a way to get libraries to work correctly.

    Any suggestions?

We need the details - what format is the drive? How is it connected? It serves a TM backup Volume? How you copied the library itself? The library still works fine on the old drive? anything else you can tell us which could help a total strange who don't see you help?

  • Satellite C850 - start from the number of DVD - replace Win8 by Win7U

Got a new C850-1JZ yesterday and I am trying to replace the pre-installed Win 8 with Windows 7. I created the recovery media (3 DVDs).

The laptop makes me 'crazy' because it seems to block any attempt to start anything else than Win8 preinstalled hard disk.

1.) Inserted Win 7 Ultimate DVD and tried to start, wouldn't boot from the disc.
Loaded 2), Advanced menu start and I tried to boot from ODD, wouldn't boot from the disc. (The options are LAN, USB, HDD and ODD (assuming that it's optical disc))
3.) regular Changed priority boot bios settings to boot from the BIZARRE first, then HARD drive, wouldn't boot disk.
4.) learned he is a 'bunch of security protection' mechanism activated by default in the bios. Turned it off. The machine starts to load ODD and says "Windows is loading files" and then hangs. It is a Win7 Ultimate original MS disk from the Microsoft store, no scratches. Makes no sense. In fact, we have 2 of them, so I tried another, same result.
5.) thought screw that, let's just put the hard drive of the other computer (T61) here then and clean again to set up another time. Replace hard drive with another hdd sata who has Win 7 ultimate installed and configured. When booting from the hard drive, it says 'No BONES' found and restarts. At the start of ODD, it starts with windows is again loading files and then freezes.

What kind of other settings of extra protection/virus blocker/stupid am I missing here? It's confusing to me. Thank you.

I managed to install Win7 on my U940 and everything I've done is actually described on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm

  • Can I put the 80 GB of HARD drive in an Apple MacBook A1181

    Hi people

I have the opportunity of buying one handed to nine computer 80 GB Apple MacBook A1181 laptop at a very good price (to replace a broken ASUS eee PC if someone asks why).

In the MacBook HARD drive is 80 GB.  It is (apparently) running Mac OS x 10.7 Lion

It's an easy task to do the following:

    (a) replace the 80 GB HARD drive with a larger - eg 500 GB

    (b) install Windows 7 (running under Bootcamp)?

    (c) install Microsoft Office 2010 (for Windows) - I have the installation discs

If so, can someone explain HOW (knowing that I'm a Windows user in the long run, but did not use the MacBook/Macs)

Also, if the battery does not charge, it's (relatively) easy to replace work or not?

Thanks in advance (and Happy New Year)

    RB

Yes, it's a relatively easy job to do, but it is worth to upgrade a macbook from 2007? It's a very old machine and it may not last that long. I would not recommend it.

    However.

It is easy to replace the hard drive. https://www.iFixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Core+Duo+hard+drive+replacement/282

Installation of bootcamp is also pretty simple before installation of Windows 7 and previous versions on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support (Please note that you will need a 32-bit version of windows 7)

Battery can be changed easy super. You only need a coin to do.

still more mac differs from windows because it is more pre-defined and settings are located a little differently. Also, everything you do with control is now in the order (so cmd + C and cmd + V).

Conclusion: Yes, you can use the macbook that you could buy, but you must consider the costs of the upgrade (you will most likely need more RAM to run any programs so our) and how long you plan to use this laptop.

Answer: IMO, cache ssd is no longer since you already have an equal or faster ssd drive.

Answer: You can deleted or you can format and use it as a data disc.

  • Could not restore Windows 7 for replacement drive

HP Pavilion 6267c running Windows 7 64 bit would not start.  Diagnostic said failed to find the startup disk.  Replace 750 GB drive with Seagate Barracuda 1 TB drive.  A ran disk original restoration and after initial installation, but I have the following message:

Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer.

Retries of installation with the same results.

    any help is appreciated.

    Hello

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE your PC came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA to demand and when the installation is complete use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load delivered normally with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.
