  • trying to update to safari without OSX update

I have a 2007 IMac and (10.6.8) running snow leopard and Safari (5.1.10). Many programs and applications that I try to tell me that my browser is obsolete. I'm maxed out on 3 GB of RAM and when I tried to upgrade to El Capitan, I've been invited could not be installed on my computer (maybe because I don't have enough RAM). Is it possible to update Safari without updating my operating system upgrade from GOLD to one other than El Capitan OSX?

It is not possible. Safari is updated only when you upgrade to OS X. I doubt that your model can run anything higher than the Lion, but see below:

    Upgrade to El Capitan

You can pass the Lion El Capitan or directly from Snow Leopard. El Capitan can be downloaded for FREE from the Mac App Store.

    Upgrade to El Capitan

To upgrade to El Capitan, you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or installed Lion. Download El Capitan from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple ID. El Capitan is free. The file is big enough, more than 5 GB, allow it some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Mac that can be upgraded to OS X El Capitan

1 iMac (mid-2007 or newer) - model identifier 7.1 or later

2 MacBook (late 2008 or early 2009 or newer aluminium) - model identifier 5.1 or later

    3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

4 MacBook Air (late 2008 or newer)- model identifier 2.1 or later

5 mac mini (early 2009 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

6 mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

7 Xserve (early 2009) - model identifier 3.1 or later version

To find the identifier of the model open system information in the Utilities folder. It is displayed in the Panel on the right.

    Upgrade to Lion

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install the Mavericks, it can still meet the specifications to install Lion.

You can buy Lion to the Apple store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus taxes.  It's a download. You will receive an email with a redemption code that you then use on the Mac App Store for download Lion. Save a copy of this installer to your download folder because Setup deletes itself at the end of the installation.

    Lion system requirements

1 mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,

    or Xeon processor

    2. 2 GB of memory

    3 OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.6.8) recommended

    4. 7 GB of available space

    5. certain features require an Apple ID; conditions apply.

  • Where to download Safari for OSX Yosemite?

I had trouble with Safari on my desktop Mac (OSX Yosemite) so I uninstalled.

Anyone know where I can download a new installation of Safari 9.0.2 without having to upgrade to El Capitan?

    Thank you

You will need to reinstall OS X. There is no standalone download for Safari.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive

HD recovery start: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.

Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left.  Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.

Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.

  • I last Safari and OSX on my computer but Adobe says that it does not support my system and I should upgrade to the latest version. But I already have this installed.

Try to get a trial of CC photoshop but Adobe say I need to update Safari.I am running Safari 9.0.1. It can't get more recent. I'm on OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 but it still won't let me download a trial version.

You can try to reset your browser, and try to install Adobe Creative Cloud and share the results.

  • update of Safari or osx upgrade

Hi, I use a macbook (2008) with the latest version of Snow Leopard installed, had problems with the various Web pages (amazon in particular) saying unsupported browser. No upgrade is available for my current browser as seems. So I'm now up to now obsolete with the OS that I can't catch up? There is updates available to Lion, Yosemite etc...? !!

You can switch to Lion, upgrade to Mountain Lion or more if your computer supports, or switch to a browser such as Firefox. Note that if your computer can not be upgraded past 10.7.5, you will likely spend even when browsers.

Download for Lion and Mountain Lion codes can be purchased from the Apple Store online. El Capitan is available in the Mac App Store.

  • Safari for Mac OS does not load certain pages

After upgrading to Mac OS on my Mac Mini (end of 2011), everything seems to work properly. I rebooted the Mini just to be on the safe side. Everything went well. It was Tuesday night.

Thursday morning, the first opportunity, I get to mess with it, I opened Safari, try to connect to my router Asus RT-N66U (with the latest firmware), but somehow Safari doesn't seem to like https, nor does it like .asp pages. Here is a screenshot of what's on my Mac Mini Safari:

I then decided to download Google Chrome. I installed (never had on this Mac Mini), but the page works perfectly and quickly.

I have reset everything I could on Safari, including clear them cache, clear history, tried the developer mode (no matter WHICH mode in there still gives the same results)... on the cable connections and wireless. Chrome works without a hitch, as Safari before Tuesday. Now, nothing...

... However some pages such as Google.com or Apple.com loading properly. I haven't checked if there are applets missing in the back or a dark rendering problem.

Any ideas how to solve this problem? (I'll use Chrome until it is.)

  • Safari works slow / Slack does not load

    Hello, community!

I have trouble with Safari because it takes longer to open a link comparing Chrom, which I use now. Also, I can't open an app from Slack (CAT of the company). As a soft support girn says that the app relies very strong on features of safari so I think this is a reason why it does not work.

    Software part:
    El Capitan 10.11.5 (15F34)

Does anyone know how can I solve the problem? I already deleted the cache and browser history deleted and reinstalled the app is soft, but it did not help.

    Best regards

  • Safari not at all times of loading web pages

I am running OS X and Safari on an iMac.  Since the last version of OS X (10.11.5) may 16, Safari loads only partially certain web pages.  I also use Chrome on the iMac, and Chrome loads pages correctly.  I tried to remove the Extensions I have installed in Safari, delete all cookies and delete my browsing history.  No luck.  Any suggestions?

Delete the Caches of Safari and com.apple.Safari.plist

1 delete the Caches and test them.

Close all windows and close all applications.

Hold down the 'option' key, then click on the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select 'Library' in the menu dropdown.

    Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari

The com.apple.Safari file right-click and select "move to the trash.

Shut down windows and restart Safari.

2 remove the test and com.apple.Safari.plist file.

    Empty the trash.

    Quit all applications.

Hold down the option key and click on the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select 'Library' in the menu dropdown.

    Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right-click on it and select "place it in the trash.

Turn it back on.    Restart Safari.

If this does not help, "put back" the com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on the trash icon in the Dock, then select 'open '.

Right-click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select 'Put Back'.

  • Safari closes

Safari unexpectedly quits on Web sites randomly. There is no model. Most of the sites loading as usual, but once a day, minimum, Safari said there was a problem loading this page. Once in a site in my favorites folder that was never a problem, now, this morning, Travelocity. I chose the departure etc and clicked on find flights, and there it was again. Safari closes unexpectedly flashes for a second then a blank page and it says reload the page and the same thing happens. I've been playing with it for a few days.

OS X Yosemite / Safari 9.1.2 / day. I have deleted all unnecessary cookies, delete cache.db and Safari p.list. Repaired disk permissions and do not have the extensions 3rd party or Adware.

This happened about a week but do not know what has changed.

I had problems with QuickTime 2 weeks thanks to * up to my mac. LINC Davis was helpful, but I always found myself using Time Machine backup difficulty QuickTime Pro. In fact, I restored everything in a restoration of 6 hours. Now, everything is perfect except Safari.  Maybe it's an idea to someone.

Not good to use Terminal app like some of the messages, I read, but am willing to try if there is no other way. Here, I might just re - install Safari, but I read is not an option without wipe everything clean. I have rather just go ahead and make the leap to El Capitan, if I do these things. Thank you

    Hi there, Mark Dorval!

Apparently your iMac on OSX 10.10.3 is having a few problems. This time, it's Safari. I use Safari almost exclusively and would be looking for a solution to this also. I'll be happy to help you. I am also keeping in mind the problem you had 2 weeks ago. Skip the steps that you have already tried.

If Safari is slow, unresponsive, which closes unexpectedly or has other issues over the years, I found it is usually extension causing me problems, but there are other things that can do the same thing as you explained. Try the following steps to see if you can isolate and resolve the issue.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not start -even if your iMac, safe mode startup make sure it starts successfully.

How to test a question in an another user account on your Mac - this process will determine if the problem is in your user account or systemic.

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - if it seems systemic, I always recommend a fresh backup to ensure the security of your personal information. It is always preferable to 'having' a backup 'need' to a backup.

On OS X Recovery - more often than otherwise, if the problem is systemic, just reinstall the OS X you are currently on.

I hope this helps and thank you for using communities of support from Apple!

  • Safari hangs on the Quit command

Last summer, I had the public beta version of El Capitan on my MacBook Pro. When the production version was released, I went to this version. Since then, I installed updates as they were freed. Currently, the MacBook is 9.0.2 Safari in OSX 10.11.2.

From the update to the production version, Safari starts and works normally. It's when I try to stop what it crashes. No difference that I use the menu or enter a command q. way either, the result is the dreaded beach of rotation ball. I look at forcing them to leave the dialog box indicates that it has stopped responding. The day.1 updates et.2 survived this behavior. And that's just on the MacBook. I have an iMac 27 "and a mini on the same versions with zero problems.

The only apparent difference is that the MacBook ran the beta version, while the other two have not. I have ideas to solve this problem. (P.S. I deleted Safari as well as its files pref, etc, once or twice; the problem that survived.)

    I deleted the Safari

You couldn't do that without the substitution of system integrity. Have you deleted or changed any other system files?

  • Safari does not open a window on el capitan 10.11.3 on iMac mid 2011

What to do to 9.0.3 Safari that doesn't open new window not and loads slowly on el capitan 10.11.3 on an iMac 21.5 inch mid 2011?

The problem is probably due to outdated software to OS X and Safari. The latest version of Safari available is 9.1. The last OS X for El Capitan is 10.4.11.

Click on your Apple  menu at the top left of your screen.

In the drop-down list, click: App Store

When you load the App Store, select updates at the top of the window menu.

Your Mac may restart several times during the update. That's ok.

    When it's done, try Safari.

  • Safari now closes when you click on the address bar

Hey all, recently I went to a Web site with a pop - up I accidentally clicked while trying to scroll down around him. After clicking on the pop-up a new tab tried opening that I immediately closed, as well as the 1st original tab open. I have then double click the home button on the iPhone and crept up to close the application currently open safari. But then when I restarted safari, whenever I click on the URL address bar to type something, it immediately closes on my safari. Now, I'm not completely clueless when it comes to try to empty the pop ups, I have delt with the "FBI warning all ' on my and several other phones... so I tried the history of obvious and this compensation that not, but still my safari stops if I touch the address at the top of the page bar.

    So far I have tried:

    1. Double-click on the House, by sweeping up app close
    2. "Restart iPhone' holding the home button and top 10 seconds
    3. ' 'Parameters '; Safari. " 'Clear the history data and the Web site '.
    4. DIssbling JavaScript in 'advanced configuration' for safari
    5. Entered into airplane mode / click on the address bar - still farm safari down
    6. Loading of several empty tabs and clicking on their URL

And just to be more specific, if I copy and paste a link I am able to visit a Web site... but again if I go to a website and immediately click on the address bar it will close and restart safari.

OR if I load up Safari in 'Private' I'm finally able to click on the address bar and type websites like Google.com and it works perfectly fine, but if I get out of private and try to type in Google.com, it closes...

    Any ideas?

  • Safari does not not after move

I have a 2 years, Macbook Pro, which worked perfectly well to our apartment with internet AT & T Gigapower. On December 6, we moved into a new House and AT & T install internet Gigapower here. We brought on the gateway wireless from AT & T that we used at the apartment and the technology used, so everything should be the same. However, since then, Safari on my laptop does not load some web pages. He does very well with Facebook or Google. But when I try to go to weather.com, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond, one of my credit card connection sites, blogs, etc., it will load only half of the page and it will not let my click on the buttons. When I try to click, Safari freezes and I get the circle of rainbow-colored like a mouse pointer.

Our iPhones and iPad work very well to our new home. I really don't think that my Macbook was damaged during its move, but AT & T is what appears as if it was a problem with the Macbook, since other devices are fine on WiFi. We did a speed test and he was always running about 90 + Mbps. Speedtest.net actually does not now for me to test it again.

Help, please! We go to my in-laws next week so I'll be able to determine then if it works very well on their wireless network. However, I would be able to use my laptop at home in the meantime.

  • [FIXED] Safari: FABridge.flash.root () translates the value Undefined

I see two errors in my Safari Web Inspector once my page load:

    * [The HTML code that caused this error was generated by a script]. Unmatched < / embed > met. Ignoring the tag.
This is probably due to the Flash embed code animation

So I see that this is the time that my JavaScript is trying to remind in Flex:
    * Undefined value. What is happening on the line where I FABridge.flash.root ()

    Anyone else seen this happen?

I solved the problem with FABridge by updating my FABridge.js of the swfobject Project Web site: SWFObject Wiki
