I don't not like tabs, or use them.
The latest update or version of Firefox has changed this and now
Open the link in a new tab first, then
Open the link in a new window.
My question is, how can I change this back to the way it was.
    Thank you very much

My problem is the opposite of the OP, but the result is the same. Years of the use of previous versions of Firefox have conditioned me to open links in a new tab by selecting the second choice of right click menu without looking. After a week of trying to readjust in places reversed 'Open link in a new window' and "Open link in a new tab", I'm always unintentionally opening new windows instead of tabs every time after time. The point is, why should I have to adjust (or need a plugin external to solve your problem). YOU TEACHES ME HOW to DO THIS WAY, then why you changed it? Do you think that the reversal is most effective? A task force of new users select the new range? Do you have a taste of trial with Pepsi? Have you adopted Microsoft 'we know what you want better than you' policy? People in the drive of England on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right. Maybe it's actually a better way to do it. Maybe we should just rethink all cars new American model in this way and reverse all the signs from one day to the next without any warning - no ads, no choice, do it just because the engineers decided that it is better. While we're here, maybe you should adopt menu 'Ribbon' of MS then. I do sound a little angry or like if I have too much time on my hands? If so, it is because I am and I do not have enough to relearn the same tasks whenever you think of a better way to perform a basic operation. I'm sick of being 'improved' perfectly feasible programs to offers no improvement, only the need for a conversion.

  • I can't open links in google search using Firefox.

I can open the links when I search with Bing or Yahoo and Google looking for work when I use IE, so it's only when I use Google with Firefox. Also, if I try to open links in a new tab, I get error 404. For example, if I try to open bbc.co.uk/news from the search page it does not do anything, if I try to open it in a new tab I get Error 404 and this string in the address bar: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t & rct = j & q = & esrc = s & source = web & cd = 1 & cad = AJLN & uact = 8 & ved = 0CB4QFjAAahUKEwjEzpKmif3IAhUM9GMKHQZeClQ & url = http %3 has % 2F % www.bbc.com%2Fnews 2F, & usg = AFQjCNFZIG7IKy3foMCFY0dzRExKv9KjFQ

I tried refreshing Firefox and disabling add-ons; I don't know what else to do.

I have Windows 10, if this has something to do with the problem.

You can try to delete the files (extensions.json and extensions.ini) extensions.* and compatibility.ini in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created if necessary.

    See "extension corrupted files:

If you see disabled extensions or is not compatible in "Firefox button/Tools menu > Modules > Extensions ' and then click the Tools button at the left end of the search bar to check if there is an update available compatibility.

If that didn't help then also delete the addons.json file and the file prefs.js reset setting pref of the extension of the Protection of Kaspersky.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Outlook express does not open links on web pages e-mail

Is no longer, I can click on a link of e-mail on any web page and that my outlook express open (6) upwards to compose new e-mail messages. Does not open upward.  Copy and paste is a poor solution band-aid if e-mail link name is different e-mail real address (often).
I think that an update of firefox (firefox8) may have disabled this... only guess. Hyperlinks to other web page still work. Just impossible to open link in email that opens my outlook express 6 to create new message and puts in e-mail address in the 'To' line up.

These also work: www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx and www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx and www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

  • How to set up rss to open links in a browser, and not on thunderbird?

I use thunderbird to read RSS. So when I read the articles, it opens on thunderbird. I wish thunderbird opens links rss on a browser, so I can use his privacy and security configurations and Add-ons.

As Matt said, set the folder power to preview in the dialog box subscribe, as described in the guide. Then, set the pref rss.message.loadWebPageOnSelect 1. By choosing a feed message, the summary appears in the messages pane and its website link will be loaded in an external browser.

Note that Adblock Plus works well in TB by the related FAQ article.

  • 29.0.1 Firefox won't open links that require a new tab to be opened.

29.0.1 Firefox won't open links that require a new tab to be opened.

What type of links are those?

As far as I KNOW, there is HTML code specific opening in a new tab, as it is to open a new window. Please enlighten me if this is something new to HTML5 that I haven't read.

Now, Firefox has a preference in Options > tabs to open new windows in a new tab instead - you have this pref checked?

  • Cannot open links in Skype, WLM or saved HTML (Firefox will not answer)

"I can't open links in conversation Windows Skype in a Firefox session running in the background, it flashes only the window borders. If I close Firefox and click on the Firefox links automatically open the link, but not everything with a session running in the background. Strange thing while having clicked on the link and began a new session of Firefox, it opens the legs as usual while clicking on the following links several times but close Firefox and restart and then click on the links in the Skype window, it does not. I have to bring up the context menu, then choose Copy address. »

I see there is no answer to the problem that guy had and I have the same problem - links of Skype and Windows live mail will not open and there is more - FF does not open the html files that are saved on the pc, even you, I just saved 'em, but when I click on em nothing happens and when I right click and choose open with FF nothing happening.

He worked for two weeks without problem and suddenly today links just do Skype flash exactly as in christianhbergs description and in windows live mail, they become purple but firefox does not react.

as soon as I make IE as my default - links work, but not with firefox.

So I guess that the problem is in firefox (no Skype or WLM in Win8)

    (running Win8 and FF25.0)

And none of the solutions that you have given us in the work of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961242#answer-497345 .

    I found the problem you!

I don't usually turn off the pc, but I Hibernate it!

While I had this problem, I decided to restart my pc.

The problem disappeared after a reboot - so I suppose the FF problem was somehow linked with use of the memory to the hibernation.

    Thank you for your answers
    anyway.

  • "Open link in a new tab - switch to him immediately" cannot be disabled

When I left click on a link, FF 14.01 will switch to the new tab immediately. When I right click and "Open link in a new tab" to say, FF will immediately switch. I've done all the obvious things in tools/options and also restore the default FF State and turned off all the modules and extensions. Before I do a complete uninstall/reinstall to see if it works, any other ideas?
Is there an entry in the register of windows 7 that would force FF to always toggle the tab new left click on a link? I ask this because I suspect that the problem might be related to malware. The system is finished clean now, if this isn't the problem.

Maybe it's a Yahoo site setting.

Google has something similar in Google search that you open through the gear icon on the Google results page.
