2. customers - both Windows 7 and Windows XP

3. created a domain and all clients are part of the domain.

4. we shared a number of folders on the server for clients to use.

The problem is

1. very slow access to the shared folder in client systems.

2. sometimes all shared folders showes upward and sometimes not.

3. sometimes very little, I mean 1 or 2 folder appear, despite 10 or more is shared.

4. access is extremely slow.

5. several once be the Member of the domain while accessing the share he asks credentials, even if the user connects using the domain credentials.

Troubleshooting of the measures taken:

  • Windows 2008 Server boots very slow

My sweet model of Windows 2008 Server starts in 30 seconds (4vCPUs [I know these are many vCPUs and recommended is to use as little as possible, but our needs of applications of this amount of vCPUs]) and 768 MB of memory)

If I give the 3072 MB model there 1 minute and 40 seconds to start, which is a normal value? What are your values? why it takes so long if I add a bunch of memory?

good point!, you should not normally need to start.

    Hello

  • Access denied error when the output directly in a shared folder in Windows 7

I have two workstations, the first working (PC1) of Windows Server 2008 R2 and the other work (PC2) of Windows 7 Professional.

I work on PC1 using the app called "MetaDimention" dealing with PDF files and generates output files as a separation of colors (CMYK color separation) TIFF files. The problem arises when I intend to exit that TIFF files generated by "MetaDimention" directly in the shared folder on the PC2 via the network "workgroup."

The 'MetaDimention' gives me the error message: JobTicketMerger: the data output destination '\\EQCENTER1\TiffOut' is not valid (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED).

where "\\EQCENTER1\TiffOut" is the path to the folder shared network on PC2.

I noticed this problem when I using Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, 2012 as an output destination, but there is no problem when the destination using windows server 2003 path.

I tried to Google the error message generated by the Application of MetaDimention and I found this thread on the other forum:

    MetaDimension output error - problem

I have the same problem exactly as mentioned, it has, after several positions the person who asked about the problem, he said that he had found the solution by changing some services started as LocalAccount user! but I do not understand what it does exactly. and here's the quote from his original message: "solved!" some services started as LocalAccount, replaced by the user and all ok.

Please tell me what can I do to solve this problem in some detail.

  • Shared folder of Windows XP Media Center number...

I recently installed a new router on my small network.  I have a main desktop pc that I use as a 'server '.  But just by regard saving the files shared on this topic.  The PC is running XP Media Center.  Well since I installed the new modem/router I can not access the actions of another pc on the network.

When I installed the new router I have not any changes on the pc.  I rechecked the records to make sure they were always shared and they were.

I also checked to make sure they were on the same workgroup.  I can ping each computer on the other, so I know that they can communicate over the network.  Don't know what to do next.  IM at a loss.  Any help would be appreciated.

    DS

It has all the symptoms of a problem of firewall on the server computer.  If you only use Windows Firewall, make sure you that there is an exception "file sharing and printer". Instead of the ping command, try the following command from a window (start-> Run-> "cmd") of each machine control to another:

    nbtstat-a 192.168.1.5

Where '192.168.1.5' is replaced with the IP address of another machine.

From the same command prompt window, try to connect manually using the command:

    NET use * \\computer\share

Where 'computer' is replaced by a computer name or IP address, and "Share" is a shared folder on this computer. Error messages from the command prompt are sometimes more revealing.

  • Number of simultaneous connections that I have in a shared folder on Windows 7 Professional?

I just need to confirm something.

Is there a limit the number of users who can access a shared folder on a Windows 7-based computer at the same time?

As far as I can see the limit seems to be 20 users... the reason why I say that it is when you share a folder, you cannot increase the limit to users who access the folder above 20?

The solution would be to install the server operating system instead of a workstation OS.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The limit is 20 concurrent connections. Remember, however, that one device can do multiple connections.

In any case you would be much better at this sort of level with an operating system server in any case. Office of the OS are not intended to be used for sharing files on this scale.

  • Windows 2008 r2 installation extremy slow

    I have the following configuration:

ESXi 5 with a centos (Linux) VM and OSless windows server VM put in service.

    My equipment is:

    1 x AMD Phenom II X 4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4 GHz Socket AM3 125W processor image HDZ965FBGMBOX

    x 4 GB ram

    hard drive WD 500 GB 1 x 7500 RPM

logbook each time I install windows server 2008 r2, it is extremely slow, it dismantles all the same the VM Linux server, even if I attributed only core 2 / 4 and 2 GB to 4 GB of Ram to the virtual Windows machine. I left the facility occur during the night and it was only 66% made on enlargement, almost 8 hours!

It made my useless server, that no one can access my Linux server where residence my Web sites.

Question 1: what would be the cause of this?

Question 2: How can a virtual machine that is limited to only half of resources consume all resources?

the image has been uploaded on the server, is this good or bad?

It's bad - ISO is read from the same disk where the OS is installed. If you have optical installation media, that give a try. Disk IO is almost certainly the problem here.

  • my windows media player is VERY slow to start, sometimes stops working, will not play some videos

When I run the program it opens but will not play a song sometimes longer than 15 minutes. Stops working and the screen will sometimes foggy transparent white - I can still see the player, but he has a white on fog. Today, that happen when you try to copy a cd. -just a regular old cdr.

Show first frame of video and play a sound but video does not move. Windows vista-home premium-toshiba.

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this file, rename the old Media Player like Media Player folder. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.

  • Windows 7 Media Center very slow to load the program guide

I run a Fujitsu Esprimo E3521 Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz with 2 GB of Ram. I use a dual DVB - T2 tuner card black gold. The PC works as expected with all other tasks (Netflix, iPlayer, MyMovies for Media Center), but when I first load the program guide, it takes more than 30 seconds before the system displays the guide and becomes sensitive (later loading times are a little faster, unless the PC is in "standby", in which case I face the same deadline when you enter the program guide). There is no other applications running on the system (the PC directly in the MC boots). Once the guide is loaded, it works at normal speed (sometimes channel tuning may take longer than expected, but usually he settles in a few seconds).

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. Recently, I reinstalled the operating system and for a few days the PC seems to be running OK, but he soon return to be incredibly slow, loading guide. (I also started to notice that it takes longer time to start playback of recorded assets).

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    (Moved to programs)

    Hi Richard,

Welcome to Microsoft Community forum.  Let me help you with your concern.

The information in the Guide is periodically downloaded from the Internet from your Guide list service provider. You are notified that "no data is available" in the Guide in the case either of the following things:

    • Windows Media Center cannot connect to the Internet and download the new Guide information for a long period of time, and the Guide information that was previously downloaded is corrupt or has expired. For more information, see solving problems with an Internet connection. (Applicable for Windows 7 alos article)
    • Guide information is not available for your location from the lists Guide service provider. For more information, see download updated Guide listings. (Applicable for Windows 7 alos article)

You can see this Microsoft article and check if it helps:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows/use-guide-Media-Center#1TC=Windows-7

If the Guide appears blank and manually download the latest announcements of Guide doesn't seem to work, you may need to set up your TV signal again. To learn how, see set up a signal TV in Windows Media Center.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.
