A user name can be changed?

I ran in the event that a user needs to change the name as the screens thanks to their documents (for example, when a division name changes) while the email associated with the account remains the same.

I have found no way to disable an account of user and then create a new one using the same email but a name updated.

the user in question can log in and update their preferences which included their name.

as an administrator, you can do this via the user update feature in bulk and do so via a csv file:

  • In C:/users, I can't change the name

When I got to my PC I am entered the half of my name and clicked then accidentally enter if now my entire file 'Users' is only half of my name - how to change this (Windows 7)? Thank you

There is no direct way to change the name of your user account folder in C:\Users.

You can change the name of your user account in control Panel > everything in Control Panel > user accounts > change your account name .  This will change the name that appears on the start menu and the login screen, but not the name of the folder.

To change the user account name and the name of the folder, you can:

    1. create a new account with the desired name administrator user.
2 copy all the files (documents, pictures, Favorites, music, etc.) of the old user account in the new account.
    3. [optional] once you are sure that you have copied all the files, remove the old user account.

  • Jabber - user name cannot be changed on the first v11.5 for Windows installation

I am posting this because once again it becomes chronic as people get new laptops and install new versions of 11.5 Jabber

There was only 1 answering machine on my previous post, and didn't us get any where.  His response was to start the installation with the switch to NO search of WebEx service.  When I pointed out that we must seek to WebEx Messenger, but that our usernames for Messenger and WebEx meetings are separate, the thread is dead.

Is there anyone who can tell me how to install Jabber for Windows 11.5 so that the user is not EXCLUDED to change the username on a new install?

    ************************************************

We have installed just 11.5 Jabber on a couple of new corporate machines (Win7 using Skype as IM Corp)

We have a Jabber ongoing performance using WebEx Messenger driver, so we have no SSO or AD integration.

After a clean installed Jabber with no switch and no custom URL (we just downloaded CiscoJabberSetup.msi for v11.5 and ran in the download on the machine folder) the screen to connect comes but the user name is already filled so it is GREY you can change.  The format is our corporate email address.  We are also no "Reset Jabber" option in the file menu. Which is gray as well.

Then, we took another machine and installed from the command line with that for options:

    "msiexec.exe /i CiscoJabberSetup.msi CLEAR = 1 CLICK2X = DΘSACTIVER"

    Same question.

So, where is Jabber pulling these usersnames and why we can not change it?  Why does "Reset jabber" clothes outside too?

I have a feeling that it is because UPN_Discovery is automatically enabled (for autousername population). Can you try to install Jabber with disabled UPN_Discovery?

    MsiExec.exe /i CiscoJabberSetup.msi UPN_DISCOVERY_ENABLED = false CLICK2X = DISABLE

To run as an administrator, open the windows in administrator mode command prompt (right click on Start menu on windows 8) and browse (> cd) to this location for jabber Installer CiscoJabberSetup.msi and copy / paste this command.

Reset gray is indeed a bit odd.

  • Adobeconnect subdomain name can be changed?

    Hello world

Our society has chosen to use Adobe connect for the occasional Webinar. SHE bought a subscription for my colleague as a way to try it for a few months, so we are quite new to the game of connect.

Everything works fine, however, the name of the subdomain is defined on a generic http://meet73271184.adobeconnect.com . Is it possible to change / have this converted into a more friendly URL? I would like to give our users a friendlier subdomain.

    Kind regards

  • Unable to make a selection in the context of important updates. Grayed. Open as administrator and not user account can not change to receive automatic updates

Sign on the user account as an administrator, but cannot change the automatic updates.

Under updates important area is grayed out and cannot select to change

    Hello Bill,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As I understood it, you experience the problem, you cannot change the automatic updates even if you are logged on as an administrator user account. The option is grayed out on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if that helps.

    1. Open the editor of the register of the command RUN by typing "regedit" and click OK.
    2. In the tree on the left, open following files-online HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
    3. Remove the automatic "Update" folder This will remove all previous settings for automatic update.
    4. Open the automatic update of the control panel and option as usual.
    5. If automatic update is always gray, type the command "gpupdate/force" RUN and click OK or restart the operating system.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. This sounds like a permission problem.  When I came across a similar problem with Vista, I installed a registry patch that adds a' Take Ownership"option in the context menu to reset the permissions on the files."  Simply right click on a folder you are the difficulties to access to the, (IE C:\Users\YourUserName) and then click "Take Ownership" allows you to access these folders and all subfolders beneath it read/write. This is what solved my problems:

  • How can I change the name of my wireless network?

I use OS X 10.11.4 and utility Airport 6.3.6. I would change the name of my network and I don't know how or where to do this. And once this is done, have what I would do with my extreme and Express to continue them to work?   Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Cheers, Peter

I use OS X 10.11.4 and utility Airport 6.3.6. I would change the name of my network and I don't know how or where to do this.

You can change the name of the network using AirPort Utility as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the AirPort base station and then, select change.
    • Select the wireless tab.
    • The network name can be changed in the field "name of the wireless network. Enter the desired name, and select update.
  • Can I change the names of the devices connected by Bluetooth to make them more recognizable?

I have a number of devices that can be connected by Bluetooth, for example, speakers, keyboards, etc. It is often difficult to remember the descriptive name that many of them are similar, for example "keyboard Bluetooth."

These names can be changed so that they are easily recognizable, for example of a number/letter combination to tell LG amplifier?

Right click on the device in the Bluetooth system preferences and select Rename.

  • My opening of user account and profile my c: drive user names do not match. Multiple user profiles.

RE: Vista Home Premium 32 bit W/sp2 installed. FYI - recently got a new hard drive and a new installation of the Vista operating system.

I'll try to keep this as simple as I can, so bear with me. I have my c: drive under users 4 ads, which contain the normal operating system files. My guest account is disabled. I am the admin on the admin account, which is the only active account running at the moment. I deleted an administrator account and a user account standard and kept my 1 active admin account. I wish that were the only account on this computer as I'm the only one to use it in the future. Profiles are always on my c: drive and I would like to delete and rename my admin account to show as such. I changed my admin account name and thought I would just remove all from drive c: under users.except my account. My account name is easy to change but the profile on the disc is the former name of admin account and there is no option to change. When I open windows Explorer to my documents folder the name changed to the new name. When searching in each profile, I find that the folders and files I added are all in the old profile folder and partially in the new profile. Some are just empty and they appear in the other. Its a dam mess! How, or can I combine all my folders and files under just the profile of a user that will be used? I thought I would copy everything from the old to the new admin account, but windows will recognize even these files under a new account name? I'm also afraid to change my password to prevent implementing locked out my own computer. I read all kinds of horror stories on the web about it. How can something seemingly so simple be such a Pandora's box. I have not deleted anything yet but profiles of user accounts. Now my system is stable and works very well. No problem to speak of, but as time go on and Add / Remove programs and move things around I'll never know where to find anything. I would like to put something in its place and be there when I need it. I think that there may be problems with the standard accounts and admin / permissions or something but I do not have the ability to copy or to move things and losing important data, until I hear something concrete. I hope someone can help and thank you.

As always - changing the user name does not change the name of the folder.  If you want to get the name of the folder and the user name corresponds to-creating a new user with the name that you want to name the user name and the folder and copy the data you want to keep the new user.  Then delete the old user and all files/folders via the user control panel.

Really - * you * is the realization of a complicated.

    (1) create the * new * user account from scratch with the username you want.  This will make the user name and the corresponding folder.  (Of course - you may need to change the username on a current user if t ever get the one you want first.)

    (2) copy the Documents, photos, etc. you want from the old account to the new.

    (3) via the user control panel, remove whatever you do not want users.  Don't do this manually.  You have no reason to go in the C:\USERS\ yourself.  If you do, * you * are causing you pain.

    (4) you do really want two administrative level accounts in case you lose access to the other.  It's just the wise thing to do.

Windows 7 is a multi-user system - even if you are the only physical user.

  • Colon of CHAP user name

One of our customers use the colon in CHAP user names to allow access on specific volumes. This is because they use the IQN name of the server as the CHAP user name

They have updated the firmware from one of their berries and PS since version 7, you can not enter more settlers. Is this a bug or is it normal?

    Hello

There was a change in the Firmware 7.0 that validates not only the length of the CHAP username, but also to check the invalid characters.   It's in the notes of 7.0 version:

By the Protocol CHAP spec a user name can be up to 63 ASCII characters (alphanumeric, dot, dash and underscore).

You would either need to change the IQN name on the server, or juice modify CHAP authentication information to remove the ': '.

  • How can I change HOW downloads are saved

I don't want to be saved as Firefox Adobe pdf download. How to change that?

Your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: open with) If you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.
